Great Matto location near the New York Public Library and Bryant Park. During nice weather days I know I can grab a bite that's inexpensive before I head to an exhibit at the library. Sometimes I get something to take home. Matto Espresso is a chain coffee and pastry shop popping up on every block. I know what I'm going to get and order through the app on my phone. If you don't use the app each item is a dollar more. In nice weather it's not hard to find a public space to sit outside. The coffee has never disappointed me and I enjoy the Cheddar Chive Biscuit and the Cinnamon Scone the most. I've tried other options but keep going back to my two favorite pastries. My morning meal is inexpensive and quick when I'm out and about. I recommend Matto wherever they're located. Be sure to get the app on your phone and use your credit card to add money in increments of $10. When you're near a Matto you will be ready to order and pick up. As my one Yelp friend Paula pointed out recently, it is unfortunate for those that are not astute about technology or don't have a credit card. They have to use cash inside the store and pay more!

This place is literally 4 mins walk from my work place and couldn't have been more convenient. Not only is it convenient, but it's great value for the price. $2 excluding tax, which is extremely a rare find around the city. They had their famous banana bread and brownie samples which were great tasting. I got their chai latte which was super tasty. Great and timely service. For those of you wondering if they have place to sit dowthey do have 4 bar stools. Keep coming back for their chai latte and the exceptionally courteous - Anna! Thank you for great service always!

This place is going to become a staple for me - I just know it! If you order through their app, everything $2.18 including tax! We used the app and it was great :) you'll also get a $5 reward when you register in the app, and the app offers $5 rewards for every $50 spent. The deals are so good here!!! If you order in store, it's all $2.72 including tax. Still great value, and I have no idea how they do it, because the food still tastes amazinggg :) Also, I saw that the header said "yelpers report that this place has closed", but disregard that! I went today (7/9/21) and I'm so glad that I did. Service (5/5) super fast and kind! Taste (4.8/5) I'll elaborate on this in the item by item reviews below Price (5/5) of course Item by item reviews: For drinks we got the Cappuccino (4/5): Very bitter at first because they don't sweeten the drinks much, but there is syrup for drinks at the bar, so you can add more yourself :) after adding more sugar this was great, and I loved that it was customizable for people w different sugar preferences. Also, this place allows any milk substitutes and any flavor shot for no extra charge!! Matcha Latte (5/5): Loved the matcha taste! Loved that I could go for oat milk without an extra charge! Loved the amount of ice (like filled to 1/4 of the cup)! Loved the sweetness level (probably about half as sweet as the average matcha latte) which allowed the matcha to really shine. Quiche (4.5/5): This was delicious :) I loved the ratio of spinach to egg. I also liked the cheesy aspect to the quiche as well. I just wish it was slightly larger is all, but for its size it was surprisingly filling Choco Almond Croissant (5/5): Literal perfection! Best chocolate almond croissant I've ever had. So much almond paste, so much chocolate - all the ratios were spot on. Please get this - it's a must Multigrain croissant sandwich (4.5/5) I was impressed at how good the croissant was even though it was multigrain, which i'd never heard of before. So nice to have the carbs and the egg and the cheese all together. A very good sandwich that I will be getting again.

I really like Matto! Everything is $2.50 which is unheard of in nyc, and the quality is pretty good too! They have a potato pastry that's really yummy, would recommend!

Their coffee drives me MATTA! I'm so happy for this new addition. For those of you who don't know by now. Everything is $2.18 (with tax). Coffee is excellent and food is decent. I grabbed an almondy and checked in for a free iced coffee. The almondy was rich, chocolately, sweet, slightly salted and topped with crunchy almonds. I'm eyeing that Nutella shell. Will be back tomorrow!

Matto is a hidden gem and now I get my regular latte fix here. It tastes just as good as the surrounding $4-5 ones. Foam is on point(if you like foamy lattes)! I haven't tried the baked goods yet but it's on my list. This location on 38th is standing room only/grab and go. *Tip: cash only for purchases under $5.

Yo, the bottom line is $2 for every item. This is not a gimmick! And the food is actually good! Today I ordered a cafe latte and an almond croissant for breakfast. The latte, tasted great, but is small in size but yeah its $2. I really liked the almond croissant after I heated up in the office and added one of those tiny containers with jelly. The entire pastry was sweet, flaky, and buttery with deliciously sweet with my fillings on the inside. The place is stand up or go like many of the Mattos I been seeing. I am not sure how they keep their prices so low but the service is amazing and I hope they put one near Lexington or 3rd Avenue near 50th Street, (hint, hint) cause I am beginning to love Matto , hey is that a guy or girl on the sign ?

How can you go wrong w $2+ tax set pricing for anything in the shop in NYC? Just saying, I love that I'm not paying extra just for having oatmilk in my latte instead of regular milk. Their coffee is good, their food options plenty too! Like come on....an egg croissant for $2 is a steal! They also have a variety of pastries offered like banana bread, cookies, etc. In the fridge there are 1L Evian bottles of water, kombucha and oatmeal that you can also buy for guess what.... $2!! Oh also their service is quick, nyc style you're pretty much in and out even if there is a line. The staff is nice too. Tip: purchase the gift card to use and load $20- you get a free cup of coffee for every $20 load up

Overall, it's good! Just sometimes they mess up the coffee on online orders, so make sure to double-check before you leave the store.

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
