I accompanied my 88 year old father to Mattress Firm in Brattleboro this week to purchase a new mattress. My father had told me before we arrived that, against my advice, he was NOT going to buy an adjustable bed frame or an extra-long mattress. We were waited on by Jordan, who listened to my father, had him test different mattresses, then gave him the remote control and talked him through different settings that could help him get a better night's sleep. Overall, I've had good experiences. Mattress salesman don't exactly have the best reputation, but I've generally been impressed by the character of local Sleepys employees. I've purchased 2 mattresses in my life, and after thorough research, got both of them from Sleepys. Most recently, I spent about $1000 and got a full mattress set that I'm still happy with. The salesman was a decent guy, and saved me tax by pointing out that I could pay in Brattleboro, and pick up the same thing in Keene. Another salesman was not very helpful when I needed to replace the box spring, but a Sleepy's employee from a different location went the extra mile to take care of me in that instance. All three times I picked up bedding, the salesman stayed after hours and sympathized with a young, inexperienced bedding consumer (me), going out of their way to help me get everything tied down safely. I'd recommend doing your research before you buy, and comparing prices on all parts of the bed, at both local stores, and online retailers like Amazon. At the very least, it can help you bargain for a better price if you decide to buy locally. If you need a bed, I would recommend giving Sleepys a look if you have one nearby. read more

My fiance and I went in to get a mattress. Jim, the salesman was very nice but not overbearing. He had us try out multiple mattresses varying in softness and firmness, seeing as I prefer a soft mattress and my fiance prefers a firm one. After presenting us with a few to get a feel for how our needs matched up he let us freely explore mattresses in our price range and firmness preferences without any pressure. He was super clear and open about pricing and financing options and worked with us to get us the best pricing possible in a way that felt very honest and straightforward. He even pointed out a box spring with storage underneath to add to our bed as opposed to the one that came with it when I expressed interest in a bed frame with storage. At first the sales lady was very helpful. She told us she would "throw in" a blanket and turns out we were charged for it - ok that's fine. Delivery day comes and 3 men come and only 1 speaks English. They spoke in Spanish the entire time while they were putting the bed together. After they were done (which was pretty quick) the only guy who speaks English hands me the papers to sign - never ONCE EXPECTING the bed. Leaves quickly and them I see why - the back of the headboard was damaged. Call the store - oh we can't help you, you have to call the 800#. They gave me no problem - we will replace it on Saturday for you. Saturday they were supposed to be here from 10-12. At 12:45 they show up. And this time they speak English. BUT THEY DAMAGED OUR CEILING GETTING THE HEADBOARD OUT OF THE BOX. read more

The guy was super slick with a very rehearsed routine. Reminded me of a used car salesman. He was over-the-top friendly, UNTIL I told him that I wasn't necessarily buying anything "today". MAN, did his persona change. Suddenly, he was like, "Oh, ok, good luck, have a nice day." Certainly does not make me want to rush back. Prices seemed high, plus they are notorious for all the "add-ons" at the end, PLUS delivery is $99 extra. No thanks, Sleepy's. read more

The 4 stars is due to the services received when I went in to the store inquiring about an exchange. The mattress was purchase less than a month ago and had a sag in it due to the box spring that was recommended when I made my initial purchase. Rachel assisted me with the exchange and it was knowledgeable and very helpful. The new mattress and box spring will be delivered tomorrow. I didn't have a positive view of the company when I walked into the door, but after the assistance from Rachel that has changed. I'd recommend this store and Rachel to anyone looking for a new mattress. read more
