We bought latex foam, extra firm mattress in January 2019. There were indentations in the mattress in September 2019, then my husband usually woke up with neck and shoulder pains, but after a few minutes stretching, he would be fine. We returned to Mattress Planet and explained the problems. The lady in the store explained to us that our mattress is still under 10-year warrantee (manufacturing defects), and the owner (Vincent) will give us a call on a possible exchange or not. We was disappointed at the time, but after talking to Vincent on the phone and texting him the mattress pictures, we received our replacement less than a week. Initially, I was just browsing and checking out my options, but Vivian did an awesome job at speaking to me about the differences of the mattresses, and which one would be best suitable for my back since I have chronic back pain. The delivery guys were really nice as well and delivery is free too! I noticed that one of the bar stools was damaged and contacted the store immediately. All my years reading and writing reviews on Yelp, I have never come across a business where by all the reviews were 5 stars. I am not talking single digits reviews here. They had at least 35 reviews on Yelp. All were 5 stars. So it was a must for me to check this business. My conclusion is that all 35 reviews were not wrong with their write-up. This gem of a store is located in a strip mall on the corner of Brookhurst and Chapman. They don't advertise much cause they don't have too. The best kind of advertisement is "word of mouth". Tram (Vivian) assisted us with a mattress for our parents. She answered all of our questions very professionally and never did she pressure us in making a decision. She gave us our space and even suggest to have our dad come by the showroom and see if he likes the mattress. She offered us the best mattress we can get within our budget. We left the showroom very happy with our purchase and commit to refer others to her business. In my short time here on this Earth, I have equated mattress sales people and used car sales people as of the same ilk. While they befriend you and make you think they are helping you get a good deal, their motivation is all about getting you to buy and pay as much as possible so that they earn more money. Thus, I always dreaded having to go to either. Luckily, we don't have to visit either places often, replacing our cars every 5 to 8 years and mattress every 10. Unfortunately, the time has come for us to replace our mattress. Now that we have Yelp to the rescue, I started looking at various stores around me. I visited them, and yes, still the same. Unable to make direct price comparisons since no one carries the exact same models, and not knowing if a mattress that feels nice on the showroom floor will actually be nice over the next decade of use. And then I stumbled upon Mattress Planet. If you've used Yelp for a while, you probably already know that you have to read reviews with a filter in mind. Between the shills and the owners who create fake accounts, to the other end of the spectrum where someone gives 1 star for unreasonable and ridiculous reasons, you need a careful eye to get an accurate rating on the business in question. Most mattress stores have raving reviews from people who only have one review - who does that? Who makes their one and only Yelp review about a mattress store? And most mattress stores have their detractors as well, those who felt that because the store didn't budget on a $50 delivery charge, that the store is only worthy of one star. But Mattress Planet has all 5 star reviews. Clearly they must have deleted bad reviews and inserted their own, right? Nope, reading the reviews I could see that they were legit reviews, telling tales of good experiences with this company. So we decided to give them a try. Came in on a Saturday afternoon. Located near the corner of Brookhurst and Chapman, near the auto parts store and down a bit from the Korean BBQ place. Wifey and I met our salesperson, Kim. Kim is so nice and patient, she greeted us with a fantastic smile and talked to us about what we were looking for in a mattress. She patiently walked us around the store, until we had tried out almost every mattress in their showroom. My wife and I are like hot and cold, in and out, yes and no. We are the epitome of how opposites attract. I am comfortable in a soft soft bed, Wifey can't manage unless it's a firm bed. After trying our every mattress, we found one that was a good compromise for us - a nice euro-top mattress with an amazingly low price tag but seemingly good quality, and completed the sale. Kim also explained that they want you to test the mattress out for 30 days, and if you wish to go up or down a firmness level within that model, it could be done one time at no charge. But Kim took it one step further and said that if it makes us happy, she would also allow us to substitute out for a split king (two twin XL's) so that I can get one firmness and Wifey can have the other firmness. Can't lose with an offer like that. A bit later, Vincent and team delivered the mattress to our house. When he left, we noticed that the mattress looks different on our platform bed. Since it was a euro-top, it was so high! Wifey couldn't even get into bed unless she took a running start and jumped. I was worried because even going to a split King (two Twin XL's pushed together) would mean the bed would still be too high. If we were to exchange, it would have to be for a different brand/model, and that wasn't part of our agreement. When we called Kim back up, she said she had to check to see what solutions she could offer us. A week later she called back and said that if we wish, we can come back to the store and pick out any other mattress, pay the price difference, and be happy. It seems like all they wanted was for us to be satisfied with the purchase. But in that week, we got used to having the high bed; I put a bench at the foot of the bed so Wifey didn't have to perform a high jump to get sleep. And it was so comfortable, I didn't want to chance switching it out with another mattress. Oh, and the price was so good, I wasn't ready to take a chance on getting a different one that might be hundreds or thousands more, and not have it be any better. Too long, didn't read? Go to this store. They know mattresses and they know customer service. They are reasonable people, selling mattresses at reasonable prices, and care about the customer's satisfaction. Vincent was very helpful and knowledgeable when we were selecting our mattress, not to mention he is a genuinely nice guy. Third time coming back to this wonderful place. I was looking around for a medium firm queen size bed for my dad, and after checking other places we came back here again to find the best price. Vincent took his time to find a bed that was right for my dad. We ended up getting the Aloe Vera mattress which came with the box and the metal frame for more than half the price of other places that only offered a mattress alone. There is honestly no other place that is willing to negotiate the price to your budget, and give you things for free to go with the bed.
