First time visit to this shop. Went at opening 10 am as walk in (one Barber present) and told 1 pm first appt. Shop is small but very clean with great atmosphere and cool wall coverings. Returned at 1 pm and was seen by Kayla. She was friendly and professional as was other stylist/barber present (Orange hair, sorry didn't get name). Hate getting a cut by anyone but my normal person, BUT Kayla did an awesome job and cut it perfectly. Would absolutely go back to this location. Came in for a haircut, mainly because I had no time working Summer Camp in San Diego to get lined up and I needed to look cute for all my Hawaii vacation pictures on Instagram. Barron was one of the few Black barbers on the Island, and my friend who's a local recommended him, so I decided to book an appointment with him. He did a great job on my box fade, and he was really friendly while cutting my hair. I felt just like I was sitting with my regular barber that go to in VA. Nothing beats the vibe of a Black-Owned barbershop! It does say on the booking website that Barron doesn't cut beards, so be mindful of that if you plan to make a visit, but other than that I highly recommend Barron to anyone looking for a Black barber on the island. While visiting Kihei I realized it had been way too long between cuts (even thought there is not much to work with) and found this place right down the street from where I was staying. Super easy to book, given a warm welcome when I arrived(no shock it is Maui after all). No wait right in the chair and given one of the best haircuts I have ever gotten. That says lots since I am 65. I thought I'd try a new place for a change. I was a walk in and they happily took me since it was a slow morning. They are very friendly and have a great sense of customer service. I told them my basic haircut parameters: #5 on the sides, inch off the top and straight cuts over ears and the back (block cut) after a nice moisture heat treatment on my neck I was all done. $40.00 (seems a bit steep) but they look and feel like a high end barber shop with their decor and treatment. I wish I caught the name of my barber. Online the name was Sarah, but my barber was a bearded man with slick hair. I have never had such a meticulous, thorough haircut. Being someone of mixed race, my hair is a bit difficult to work with. Regardless, I walked out of the shop with what my girlfriend said was "the best haircut I've ever gotten." If that doesn't speak for itself, I too loved my haircut (a fade to skin, with a trim on top) and I was bangin for the rest of my vacation. Shoutouts to MBS, this place rocks. read more
