Beautiful restaurant at the Outrigger - came here to celebrate my dad's birthday and it was a nice time! The service was a bit slow, but our waiter was nice, and the views and live music were so lovely that I didn't mind too much. The chips + dip and calamari fries were great appetizers - good to share for our party of 6. The queso was warm and savory, really good! I had the Kabayaki Butterfish and it was delicious. Fish was very soft and sauce was sticky and sweet. The rice was a little clumpy but not bad. The Macadamia Nut Crusted Mahi Mahi was really tasty, and the Guava BBQ Ribs were sweet and tender! Early morning walk and noticed few people sitting inside. Went around the corner to the reception, inquired of there hours and checked out their menu. Had different protein choices, few unique items. Hostess sat us at the edge of the main area overlooking the Black Rock. Very nice. Banana bread was very good. Surprised to see slices of banana on top with drizzle of their caramel sauce. Cool spot to hang out! We made reservations and it had a cool vibe, however our toddler was throwing a massive tantrum and ruined it for us, so we made the executive decision to leave while my husband stayed to have a beer and order our food to go. I got their burger, came with some fries. The burger was a huge patty and actually pretty good. The cheese melted over the patty. I ate it on my hotel balcony. The fries were big and good too. I do like the new location of this brewery. No longer in a strip mall, instead on the beach of Ka'anapali, it seems to be way busier than the last location which has to be a good thing, I would think. OMG HAZY was also good but I didn't like the Maui lite. It tasted like water to me but I am not a light beer person so I feel that is unfair for me to claim. Generous tartar sauce portion though but did not fix the blandness. When I notified our server, she didn't care and didn't offer to bring me something else or have it remade. I asked for salt and Tabasco which she took forever to bring so I asked a different server. I asked for a diet soda and she said they had their own soda version but wouldn't tell me the name. Strange. She was going around it and Felt like I was pulling teeth with her to tell me the name of the soda brand. Water Refills took a while. She was very attentive with her other tables except us. We walked down the beach and back, checked in, and found out the rude hostess had put us down as waitlist for the bar not the general seating or both. We would have completely missed happy hour. We were seated quickly after that. The hostess stand is a hot mess express! The service was very similarly disheveled. Waiters and food runners would run to many different tables looking for where they were supposed to drop off food, beers, plates, utensils, etc. It was comical how badly organized it all was. That said, our waiter was friendly and got us our food. The beers were tasty! The food was good. The truffle fries were fantastic, flavorful, and just the right size portion. The pork bao buns were not buns but tacos and the pork was so tiny in there they should have at least added some more veggies or something - it was mostly bread and would not have been worth it at full price. Well the rain earlier in the day shut down their outside tables though it was dry out. So our quickest walk in dining option was the bar which we usually don't mind.... After seating it took a long time to get service. Even though he was right there. So in a restaurant run by and named after the big local brewer ran out of two of their beers, one of which was the only one I would drink. I'm not a huge beer consumer but when I do drink it I know what I like and they don't serve any other brand options. Wasn't in the mood for hard drinks so I just went water. He gave me a sampler of something and I asked if it was ipa even though I told him I don't care for that style. It was ipa.... So I got water and the wife got a Maui mile which she liked. Menu was mostly bar food, burgers and fish also not my style so much. So eventually we got to order and just opted for some fries and a pork belly bao sliders to share. Food was ok but not exciting. The only good part of the sliders was the pork belly snd completed with pickle slices and the ubiquitous sriracha aioli that every restaurant around here seems to drizzle on everything! Yuk. Not a fan and I avoided the dishes at lunch with the same thing smothered with it. I would suggest a mildly spicy house made kimchee or pickled anything that is grown on the islands but that wouldn't pass with the haole tourists I guess. I had to wave down the bartender to help the young lady standing behind me waiting a while too to order a drink while she waited for a table. We were planning on taking family members arriving tomorrow there for dinner but I'm not even going to consider that. After one cocktail, water, and a couple apps it was almost $60 out the door and I went home still hungrier than when I went in. I can't understand why people gravitate to these brewery based restaurants when so many other good choices are around?? read more

Excited to visit for dinner again, but still only 4 star worthy. Mainly because of the Ocean Kung Pao cocktail...I loved it last couple of visits and was looking forward to toasting sunset with it again. When I ordered it the server warned me it was spicy. Unfortunately it was undrinkable, so spicy it made you cough and meant you couldn't taste any of your meal. Don't know why they changed the recipe, BIG let down. Unfortunately the Mai Tai had a chemical tasting vanilla foam which was a bit icky too. Stick to the wine. Mind you don't expect good cocktails in a brewery where everything is about the beer. The menu is limited, and could be widened but we picked the following: Fish and chips - 2 big pieces of nicely battered fish, very crunchy moreish fries and a rainbow slaw for freshness. Nice sized serving accompanied by tartar sauce Butterfish - melt in the mouth with a nice tangy sauce, yummy mushrooms and green beans with a crunch, and I subbed sweet potato mash instead of rice. Small sized serving but delish Steak and fries - Cooked perfectly medium as asked and tasty and very garlicky fries which were crunchy and very pungent Overall it was a good meal, just a huge let down in the cocktail department. There was live music by a singer with an electric guitar which was too loud so it was hard to talk over, plus the music was the usual 70s outdated stuff. Located on the property of the Outrigger hotel, you really have to seek this place out if you want to come here. Parking is validated if you park inside the hotel's parking structure. We came for dinner and the ocean views are terrific during sunset. The restaurant is spacious and there's ton of natural sunlight and airflow. We've been to the location in Kihei where there's live music and we expected the same here, only to be told that they don't have live music at this location. Food wise, I thought it was ok. We got the pork belly baos, fish and chips, and braised short rib. I really enjoyed the pork belly baos - it was super fatty and basically melted in your mouth. The fish and chips were whatever - your run of the mill staple while the short rib was decent. The carrots and zucchini were not cooked at all. However, the reason why you're coming here is probably for the beer and with that, it's a great spot to grab a drink and soak in the ambiance and vibes. read more

Came here the other night with my husband being hopeful that they would be open with the storm. Thankfully for us, they were! Honestly, 5 stars for how they handled the storms. They were short staff due to worker's homes getting flooded but everybody that was present was truly genuine and kind. It was amazing to see such friendly faces amidst a difficult time. The wait was 2 hours but they sectioned off a side of the restaurant to wait. You could get to go food and order drinks from the bar. We opted to do this because we had been holed up in our hotel so why not sit and have a front row seat to the storm? The music was bumping, the drinks were flowing, and the thunder was rumbling. It was definitely a unique Maui experience! When our table was ready we were lucky to be served by Claudia. She was so kind, attentive, and personable. She made great conversation and had a wonderful attitude. You couldn't even tell the restaurant was so short with how everyone worked together! Finally, the food was great and for a solid price. We shared the fish and chips and burger and were pleasantly surprised with both! The tartar sauce was so yummy! My husband and I found ourselves saying we enjoyed ourselves more here than at some of the expensive restaurants that we dined at on our trip. Would 100% come back! If you are not staying at the resort, finding the restaurant can be an adventure, please read below for more. If you have time on Kaanapali, it might be easier to walk. The parking garage you need to park at is to the left of the main building. Don't let your GPS fool you. TAKE YOUR TICKET WITH YOU and have it validated at the restaurant. Walk out of the parking garage toward the rooms and to the right. You will find the lobby. Walk out the back door of the lobby past the front desk (to the left as you're facing the desk) and GO TO THE LEFT IN FRONT OF THE POOL. If you go straight, you will walk all the way around the restaurant before you find the entrance. Again, don't forget to have your ticket validated before you leave. Hopefully this saves you some time! We came after sunset at 8:30 and there was no wait. We got a flight and I found a beer that I liked, the Big Swell IPA. Service was pretty good, although waters went empty for longer than I would have liked. We ordered the kale salad for an appetizer. It hit the spot and can easily be split between 2 people. I ordered the butterfish for dinner, which tasty! The sauces and seasoning made the dish taste like sushi. Would order again! We've been twice for happy hour (3pm to 5pm). You get a view of the ocean, birds flitting in and out, the breeze off the water keeping you cool. The beers are pretty good (so my hubs says), the mango slushy is great after being in the sun and the house made cola is nice with a cinnamon note. If you are looking for some good bar food with an awesome view, look no further! Maui Brewing is for you! We stopped here on our way back to our hotel after doing the Road to Hana. We were hungry and looking for something quick and easy. We decided to split some apps and we are so glad we did! The nachos were my favorite because each bite was absolutely loaded with toppings (exactly how I like it). The $28 price tag scared us a little but the amount of nachos and steak you get on it made the steep price worth it. Plus we are in Maui, so everything is insanely priced. The pretzels were delicious as well. Soft and chewy with just the right amount of salt. They also did not cheap out on the beer cheese! Now I'm not a huge fan of beer cheese, as I like nacho cheese with pretzels, but it was still good nonetheless. Would definitely come back next time we visit Maui! read more

Staying at the Outrigger made this place a win from the jump, since it's literally steps from the rooms and has a great view. The restaurant feels pricey like most of Maui, but the food hangs with the rest of the island and felt worth it. Dinner first: the cheeseburgers slapped. Super flavorful with that perfect balance of meat, veggies, and bun, plus really crispy fries that were done right. We liked it enough to come back for breakfast, which turned into the highlight. The loco moco was beautiful and delicious, with soft brisket, a pretty plate, and real oyster mushrooms you could actually taste instead of tiny bits lost in the sauce. The ube pancakes were a mountain, topped with amazing ice cream, and the portion was huge for the price. Star of the whole visit was the ube cheesecake -- ultra creamy with garnish, dragon fruit pieces, and whipped cream that all worked together so well. Practical notes: if you're at the Outrigger, you get 15% off for dine-in, not for takeout. There's a shop inside if you want to bring some Maui Brewing Co goodies home. Maui Brewing Company brewed up some truly terrible customer service. From the get-go the service started off badly and stayed that way throughout the entire meal. When we first arrived, our waiter was disinterested and seemed like he just didn't care. Food and drinks took a long time to come out, especially since the restaurant wasn't busy at all. One of our plates was completely missing, and it turned out the waiter never even put the order in. So one of our party didn't get to eat dinner with us and had to wait an additional 20 minutes for his food. I even noticed the table next to us leave unhappy for the same exact reasons.
