After an unsuccessful attempt at short-selling our condo with one Realtor, we decided to seek out someone who was more experienced with the short-sale process once our contract ended. We had received a cold call from Maureen O'Keefe from right as the contract ended (which quickly indicated to us that she was on-the-ball and working hard to research when contracts were ending and market herself!) and her message motivated us to contact her. That was the smartest call we could have returned! After 15 months, 6 buyers (several which were ALL cash), and numerous documents, signatures, faxes, scanning, phone calls, and decisions, we finally were successful in completing a short-sale and closing escrow on our condominium! While we had every intention of unloading the property, it was Maureen's determination, tenacious nature, knowledgeable approach, business acumen and go-get-'em mentality that made the difference! She is bright, hardworking, honest, strategic, and was very creative in making sure that our property was heavily marketed and that interested buyers recognized that this short-sale was a great deal! We live in San Francisco and just closed on a vacation house in Truckee where Maureen represented us as the buyers. We are big fans of hers and highly recommend her. We only knew a little about the Lake Tahoe area when we got connected with her. She sent us a bunch of information through email and based on our responses she planned two days together during one of our weekend trips. Her plan was spot-on in terms of educating us about the area and showing us the price-points for houses in different areas with different trade-offs. Plain and simple, Maureen was amazing to work with. My wife and I went up over Memorial Day weekend last year, and were just 'browsing' for a vacation home in Tahoe (with no real intent of buying anytime soon...it was on the 5-10 year plan) - we were up-front with Maureen about this and she was still happy to show us around several properties that we were looking to head up for winter and summer weekends. We met her at Tahoe House (best coffee ever), and she had a conversation with us about what we were looking for, what was important to us in terms of location/size/etc., our timeline, and what we enjoyed about Tahoe. After that, she whipped out a folder of about 20 properties that she came prepared with, we then narrowed that down to about 10, and off we went with Maureen to go house shopping (still with no premise that we were going to pull the trigger any time soon.) We looked at a lot of places, and as we went along Maureen got a better idea of what we were looking for as we toured the West shore, and she adjusted our tour as we went along. (Side note: we had a blast with Maureen during our touring, she's hilarious and knows lots of little details about the region.) As we worked our way down the lake, she showed us a place that was too good to be true. The property was bank-owned which meant there were a ton of little details that went in to making an offer (which we had no idea about.) After thinking about it that night (and my wife and I having a lot of wine), we decided to go for it and make an offer. This is where Maureen really shined. Since this was a holiday weekend and there was an offer put in on the house the day before, we had to put in an offer within 2 days for it to be considered. We never thought we'd be able to put together an offer and get financing on a holiday weekend. Maureen set us up with a mortgage broker (Andrew @ OMG Lender - also incredible to work with), who qualified us over a quick conversation and we had our offer written up with our pre-approval all set and ready to go with the bank on Tuesday morning. She was also extremely helpful on helping us with the offer price. We wanted to go in at just the right price, while having our offer accepted and not offering too much. We were dead on with our offer and it was accepted a few days later. The process was extremely smooth, and we attribute this all to Maureen. So...our relationship with Maureen didn't end there. As we were now 'new' homeowners in Tahoe, we had a bit of work that we needed to have completed with the house, from BMP's, to a deck extension, to random little things, we needed some help. Maureen has a never-ending rolodex of who she could suggest to do the work, and she's always honest and up front about who would be the most expensive, who would do the best work, etc. In a nutshell, she is really dialed-in to all things about Tahoe real estate. We would highly recommend working with Maureen (and already have!), and we would definitely work with her again, although i think we're set for the foreseeable future. read more
