    Floyd's Lumberjack
    Vicky B.

Enjoyed an absolutely delicious breakfast here! I ordered the Floyd's Lumberjack so I could try a little bit of everything. It included eggs (any way), protein (I chose bacon), a biscuit, gravy, and grits. Everything was delicious but omg the biscuit was the best I've ever had! Service was great too, and I'd love to come again the next time I'm in town.

They won't be around long. There's nothing good to say. Service was so so. The inside was ok. But the food was terrible. I don't trust what's happening in the kitchen

What a great find in Greenville! We ordered the Cowboy Bene and the Jazzy Omelet, and both were excellent. The Cowboy Bene had perfectly poached eggs and the hollandaise sauce was absolutely delicious, rich but not overpowering. The Jazzy Omelet was also great. We asked for the gravy on the side since we're usually not huge gravy people... but honestly, after tasting it, we probably could have had it right on top! The best way I can describe Maverick is that it's like if Biscuit Head and Maple Street Biscuit Company had a baby and if you know those places, you know that's a high compliment. They also have a really cool jam and butter bar, which was a fun touch and gave us a chance to try a few different flavors with the biscuits. From the outside it's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall spot, and you could honestly drive right past it without realizing what you're missing. But in my experience, those are often the best places--and this one definitely proves that point. The staff was friendly, the service was prompt, and the whole experience felt relaxed and welcoming. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

The food was amazing, the service was great and communicated with us the entire time. The atmosphere was modern and posh not quite what I was expecting from the outside but was pleasantly surprised! Highly recommend!

We came as a big party of 22 for family brunch and we had an incredible brunch! They were great at accommodating us so that we could sit together and enjoy each others company and the food was spectacular! The biscuits are the most softest buttery biscuits you'll ever eat! They can be a bit dry but not in a bad way, just more like flakey. We are from FL so we aren't local but we will for sure return when we come back to SC!

The Hangover fried chicken biscuit sandwich

This is one of the few places (other than fast food) in Mauldin for breakfast. There's a huge selection of breakfast sandwiches. You order at the counter, serve yourself drinks and grab a seat in the dining room. We had the Hangover- a fried chicken biscuit with egg, jalapeño and gravy- and an omelet. Both were delicious. The coffee is from West End Roasters and the juice is fresh squeezed. The food was great. My only complaint is price - we spent $50 with tip for breakfast.

Well, this was an interesting experience. Upon entering its appearance is almost exactly the same as the previous business, Luna Rosa, and there is nothing wrong with that but I was expecting something different. As you walk through the entrance towards the register to order, you will notice a huge menu to your left with multiple items listed. There are not many options for vegetarian's, and I had to ask if I could have a biscuit with egg and cheese, as that is not listed as an option. The young lady at the register was extremely friendly and helpful. If you have never been to this location, it is very much self-service, which is not a problem, but the flow of how they have things set up just doesn't feel right in my opinion. I ordered a coffee, biscuit with egg and cheese, and home fries... all were delicious. I truly hope this establishment finds its groove and becomes a staple within Mauldin. The food was delicious and the employee taking my order was very friendly and helpful. I believe some of the other employees may need coaching. Pros: Delicious food Cons: Not a good flow for ordering, getting your coffee, and then back to your seat, and the jelly station off in the dark corner. A young man working there, venting to another employee about somebody named Rico and dropping the F word multiple times. Dirty seat and table top (as shown in picture).

New, second, location of this restaurant has opened and we visited during lunch. I had heard about this in the Upstate Business Journal and on a local social media site. This is a casual restaurant with an open seating area, including some outdoor seating. Also they have applied for a liquor license. Which makes it interesting. Casual, open, several televisions and a planned full bar makes one think "sports bar." But here, they make scratch made biscuits every day and the goal is to serve them as "heaping comfort food." So they are loaded. An example is the "Maverick Biscuit Sandwich": Tillamook sharp cheddar, scrambled egg and choice of fried chicken, bacon, ham, sausage or fried bologna. Or the "Whistle Stop BLT Biscuit": Buttermilk biscuit, fried green tomatoes, house made pimento cheese, bacon, artisan greens and lemon vinaigrette. We both had the "Hangover": Buttermilk biscuit, fried chicken, bacon, scrambled eggs* and candied jalapeños, topped with homemade gravy. Which is $13.00. I chose to have the gluten free biscuit option, which is nice that they have it, and no gravy, in an attempt to reduce the gluten. There are other items than biscuits, like fried green tomatoes, burgers, french toast, grits, etc. Definitely a heavy meal place. My egg was overcooked, bacon was tough, not crispy tough, just tough. The chicken was bland and under-seasoned, and a little bit dry - you know that chicken breast dry texture, yeah, that one. Overall, it "could have been better" (2 stars) but since they make a good attempt at gluten free it is upgraded to the 3 star, Okay. I think this has a lot of potential and will find its crowd, but it is in a off beat space. I am not sure if they are shooting for breakfast, brunch and/or lunch as the thing here, or maybe all of the above? It seems to be popular at the other location and hopefully, they find the niche at this location.

Rather it's savory or sweet, this place has your biscuit desires covered. I have been here four times and always left happy. Their biscuits are crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Only complaint is that they are slightly dry. Probably just need a bit more butter right? Lol. Though the biscuits are not the best I have had, the overall experience is very good. Though no longer on the menu, you can still order the Biscuit w/ Gravy Flight, which is one of my favorite things here. They're all pretty delicious, but that sausage gravy really enhances the biscuit since it takes away some of that dryness. Of the sandwiches, I love the Fried Bologna Benedict the most. My least favorite is the extra salty Country Ham Biscuit. The Mimosa Fried Chicken Sandwich is not bad either, but order it without that sweet sauce on top. And if you like simple, just get a biscuit with some sausage and eggs. Don't forget, they have a whole jams and spreads station. Make sure to take advantage of that for a sweet finish. I personally enjoy the Peach Rosemary, Strawberry, and Sweet Potato Chai. Btw, extremely sweet and kind service. I had a cappuccino that was a bit too light. I offered to pay for an extra espresso shot. Instead of charging me, the server sent me back with a brand new cup of cappuccino with the extra shot. Then she stopped by to ask if it was made properly three minutes later. Every time I have been to Greenville, I have made a pitstop here. This factory of biscuits may not be the best around, but I just appreciate the atmosphere and friendly service. By no means am I saying their biscuits are not good because I would be extremely ecstatic if we had something similar in NYC.

Such a fantastic location, on the corner of McBee Ave. The building and setting is gorgeous inside and outside seating. Both very large areas that would be awesome for evenings out. I always feel cold inside restaurants and didn't have a sweater.. so I chose one of the long marble top tables outside. There is also a big tv for game viewing in a fully covered corner area. The bar opens up so it's accessible whether seated inside or out (photos). The menu has great choices. I had done my research beforehand since I was on a time crunch and ordered the roast beef melt.. which came with fries and au jus that was amazing!! I added a side of steamed oysters.. perfection!! These came with horseradish, cocktail sauce, red wine vinegar and oil for dipping. I ended my meal with creme brûlée that was better than one's I've had in Paris. It was topped with a perfect layer of flamed sugar, fresh assortment of fruit in whipped creme + a tiny crown of mint. The creme brûlée had a hint of lemon, making it over the top delicious. The chicken was a had an odd mushy/spongy texture -- a couple of tenders unceremoniously dropped on the plate and nothing like in any of the marketing photos -- and the gravy was not very flavorful at all. Someone else in my party got the chicken and waffles -- their chicken was better than mine, but still completely unimpressive. I also have to say, unfortunately, that the staff is not on their game. We had communication problems with the person taking our order, and the self-bussing area was overflowing with dirty forks and plates. This is a corporate slop establishment, and Greenville has at least a dozen breakfast spots, especially locally-owned ones, that are miles better than this. I regret not looking a bit harder for a better local spot.
