I usually book with Marianne when I get my hair cut here (one of the senior stylists) and she is a great laugh and good at what she does. You may have to wait sometimes if they are finishing off with their last client, but although this could be frustrating if you were on a deadline, it does show that they take their time with every customer and don't just rush you out of the chair for the next booking. They will always leave you with a proper coffee of your choice (I usually go for a latte) and there are your expected hair magazines to flick through - I tend to bring a book just in case. They have a separate area out back to get your hair washed and their seats recline and have the option of a massage (although I wasn't overly struck on this feature). I believe that they also offer a range of scalp treatments from here. Marianne has always been very helpful in discussing the style I wanted and provides just the right amount of chatter without becoming too much. Prices are what you would expect from a salon and I usually get set back £25. She will always offer me a free fringe cut in the interim before my next appointment and they do sometimes have vouchers or incentives to come back. All in all a pleasant salon where you will get a professional service.

The girls in there were all lovely and most welcoming! When I walked in I was greeted with the sight of these 'more mature' ladies who were all sat in a row under the hooded driers reading their magazines. I thought was really cute and very retro. I loved my haircut - it was done exactly how I asked! Also the service, gossip, chatter and tea was brilliant but best of all...it was cheap! Would gladly go back again! Since I have been they have done a refurb and I understand it is much larger now. Would go back in a heartbeat and have absolutely no complaints.

I asked for a nice neutral makeup look too not make me look hot but they gave me a neon pink eyeshadow look but to be honest it was sexyyyyyy. I will 100% come back. (I will let you know if I get my freak on with a young fella (and hopefully my back brace doesn't fall off while doing it) )

I have been going to Trevor Sorbie for years and always had a lovely experience…read more However, I booked in my most recent appointment weeks ago, turned up this morning and they had booked me in for the wrong day and time which is a huge inconvenience when you've gone all the way into town! The next available appointment I could do was weeks away and I wasn't offered any discount or money off due to the inconvenience caused to me so unfortunately they have now lost a valued customer. I called up another salon who was able to book me in straight away. Very disappointed in Trevor Sorbie and won't be returning.

The service is of the 'the customer is right' variety, the stylists and juniors alike are all very friendly, polite and keen to make the appointment a pampering experience. Apparently it's more than just a salon, as it offers botox, laser hair removal, facials, tanning and even has its own tattoo parlour downstairs. Like any place offering such a wide range of professional services, prices vary incredibly but due to convenience it has become somewhat of a one-stop shop for everything beauty related. It still sickens me to know how much people are willing to spend on their looks but compared to places like Toni & Guy the price and quality of Usual Suspects is far superior. I'd recommend it for someone wanting a total, aesthetic overhaul.

But even if you've been before, you can still get a colour, cut and blow dry at the skillful hands of Gemma, who really listens to what you want and makes sure you get it. There are a number of very creative colourists, make up artists and senior stylists though if you've got the money to burn and if you really want to push the boat out, heck, go for the botox, fillers and permanent make up whilst you're at it.
