Went to get my inspection and an oil change with an appointment and was called before the appointment that they were already behind (mind you they hadn't even opened yet). Once I went to pick up my vehicle, I had immediate issues with my car because they did not put my wheels back on correctly, causing a horrible sound. I went back and was talked down to like this was no big deal. A week later my heat shield came undone from the bottom of my car, causing again horrible noise and damage to my vehicle. Come to find it had been zip tied to my vehicle, rather than secured correctly. I am appalled at the quality of service and decency I was shown. Personally, I'd rather take my business to a 5 year old who plays with plastic cars than ever come to this business again. read more

I had an appointment for 2:00 to have four new tires put on, everything was set up in advance. I asked for mid-grade tires. When I arrived, the kid behind the counter said he didn't know what I was talking about. I had to go into a big explanation before he found my appointment. He told me I was going to have to wait a long time because my appointment was for 1:30 and I was late and they only had 2 mechanics working. I showed him the copy of my receipt online showing the appt. time of 2:00 and he didn't say anything. After an hour I went to the counter to confirm which tires they were going to put on. I told him how much the tires were that were quoted and he said "We don't have anything that cheap" so I again showed him my receipt. He then said I've never heard of those tires before". I then looked up the stated tires myself and saw they were advertised on Mavis' website and were the cheapest entry level tires. I told him that and also said "Why would you make an appointment if you knew you only had two mechanics working and didn't have time?". He gave no answer. He was the rudest most clueless person I've ever dealt with. There was no manager on site. I canceled my appointment and left, never to return. read more

Stopped in to see if they could put new wiper blades on my car. They weren't too busy so the assistant manager changed them right in the parking lot. I was more than happy that it was done so fast. My tire had a leak in it, and I called 1st thing in the morning, they got me in right away. Within 20 mins I was on the road again, which was great as I on my way to work. Everyone I dealt with was friendly and professional. They actually found a nail in another tire while I was there and fixed them both. Went to Mavis in Baldwinsville just today after making an appointment for inspection. I don't quite understand why they take appointments if they're just going to let people jump ahead of you anyway. But that's besides the point. I do most of my own work on my vehicles and know if they need servicing or not. My car was 110% ready to pass this annual inspection. After waiting in the lobby area for over an hour the employee working the desk calls me up and asks if I have any tint on my windows. I reply with "factory tint I believe" (which a lot of cars have). Also this tint may be the lightest I've ever possibly seen. He goes and tells me right then and there that it will not pass. Mind you I took this same exact car in for inspection this time last year with absolutely no issues. I asked him if he took a tint meter to it? He evaded the question and told me it's NYS law not ours. Then he proceeds to ask if he wants me to continue with the inspection. I asked him why would I continue on with it if you saying it's going to fail? I asked for my keys and left. They did not even take the car in to test the "tint", they made me wait for well over an hour for nothing, they came up with excuses and disregarded my questions, they didn't even apologize for wasting my time. I typically never write reviews but for this shop I had to. The fact that this same car passed last year and now fails this year because of "window tint" and the law not changing makes this shop an absolute joke. DO NOT GO HERE....EVER read more

DONT go here! These guys are scammers and don't know how to do their job. Long long story but short story.. my husband needed breaks done, after first time, they squeaked. Brought back, oh other breaks need to be done, still squeaked. Brought back oh you need new breaks and callipers. STILL squeak, 3 tries later. They never fixed it, didn't offer to do it again for free everything was a charge. I had new tires put on my car (in between break fiasco.. that my husband never told me about). I Drove home. The Next day my car shook like it was going to break. They didn't balance them right! WTH! As I was at my Subaru dealer last week, I overheard their mechanics talking about a "Ray Charles" working at a mavis doing tire balances. He said they've had tons of repairs for mavis shoddy work. I brought in my car for a flat tire. Normally we go to Nobels because they do a great job and are professional. Mavis tire? Not so much. Upon parking my car I went to the front desk to check in. I do not know if the manager is always rude or was having a bad day. When I did not have my license plate memorized, he snapped at me and went out side to check. He was so rude. At one point in our coversation I actually said "I am sorry you are having a bad day but you don't have to take it out on me". He ignored this comment. The manager took one look at my tire and.declared I needed 3 new tires and possibly tire sensors. I had a bad feeling about it but went ahead with the recommendations. When I called to check on my car, I was told I needed the tires and 4 new sensors. In addition he claimed I needed new back brakes. Nobles serviced my car just two weeks.prior and did not say anything about my brakes so I declined that service. The manager continued to be rude and straight up hostile. At this point I referred him to my spouse because I was tired of being mistreated. We spent around $800 on 4 new tires, stems and an alingment. When I picked up my car, I noticed my low tire pressure.light was on. I called the shop but I was brushed off, saying "oh it will go off on its own" Fast foward one week later, my light was still on. I stopped in for help and was assisted by a polite employee. He checked my tire pressure and said it was low on all 4 tires. He pumped up my tires (they were at 30 and needee to be at 36) and assured me the light would go off. Why was my tire pressure so low after I spent $800 the week before? Again my light remained on. We brought it in for a 3rd time and were just flat out told that there was nothing they could do. My husband and I went into to speal to the manager together. The manager did not look up at me even once during the conversation. Not even any eye contact. I believe this guy is still sexist and I think he took advantage with my naivete with auto repairs. I called Nobles to ask them about my brakes and repairs. The agreed that Midas was crooked with their customers. Beware ladies; be prepaird for being talked down to and sniped at. God forbid you ask any questons. Midas is overpriced, scammy, and the general manager is flat out rude and codensating to women. Stay clear and stick with local mechanic shops. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I've done business with Mavis three times in the past six months. I found extra charges on each bill. They corrected each time but I find it funny that the same thing happens every time. Here is what they do: I bought 4 new tires and find an oil change in the bill. I did not order an oil change. I tell the manager and he fixes the bill and explains that he is dumb and made a mistake. This scenario happened three times with the same I'm a dummy explanation with two different managers. I won't go back but if you do business with them check the bill and don't buy into the I'm a dummy stuff. If you don't know about car service billing don't go because you won't catch the extra "I'm a dummy" charges. These guys are the best! My dealer told me I needed front brakes and rotor work and quoted me around $300. Since I was unhappy with my last service, I called around for a quote. John from Cole/Mavis (this is very confusing) gave me a quote $50 cheaper with NEW rotors and a warranty on the brakes. I brought it in and what a great surprise I received when I picked it up...they said the brakes still had around 60% pads and rotors were good. My review will be short, since I have not used any of the services here. I made an appointment for a vehicle inspection today. When I arrived, I was told they were swamped, and I was asked if I could leave my vehicle. I asked when they thought they could complete the inspection, and after long consideration, I was told "the end of the day" (approximately 5 hours later). If they were simply running behind, and had asked me to wait for 20-30 minutes, I would have understood. After all, things often take more time than we expect them to. Definitely don't take you car here, after having issues with them they told me to take a different mavis down the road to take a look at it because I didn't feel safe going back to that one, the reason they failed me the first time was because the brake pads were under 2/32 witch is not how breaks pass or fail inspection, they pass or fail if they are metal to metal. The manager showed me that I had one pad that was close to metal to metal and agreed that it was not metal to metal but he said it failed because he didn't feel it was safe Which doesn't matter if it passes it passes, he was just trying To cover up there mistakes. I trying letting them right there wrong doing bit they didn't so I had to pay another garage to get it inspected and it passed no problems. Manager claimed a manager for about 20 years was so inaccurate with his assessments. With a solid capability to work on my own cars and do in summer, he took me out for the big pitch in the disgusting shop area. I went in for new pads and an oil change.. Knowing my rotors were still waaaaay within limits, I change pads myself often as these are the easy things to keep the system efficient... Suddenly the job was 4 sets of pads, 4 rotors, and get this 4 calipers... OMG I was embarrassed for this guy as he wanted me to spend $1500+ to waste money. But boy he said he'd work with me and was getting a great deal making his suppliers " bid" against each other for selling him parts.. I just went got my car inspected there and they failed me. I asked the reason he failed me and the guys response was because the tire were at the wear bar, that is not a valid reason to fail a car, the rules is less then 2/32 and I went with a gauge and tire with the most ware is 3/32. He also said I fail because my brakes are less then 2/32 which is one not how you measure brakes you measure in mm. Second the rule is they can't be metal to metal and they are not. So I had to pay $21 for a fail inspection that didn't pass and I have to go get it inspected somewhere else all because they were trying to sell me new brakes and tires read more

Was back twice in the last few months, stellar service each time. Right now the manager is John, he's my favorite from all these years of service. Just the best. About two months ago came in for an inspection, didn't know my tie rod was going bad. At first I was disappointed, but when I actually checked it out myself, THANK GOD these guys noticed it. It was so shaky. They replaced it for the best price. Even though they were closing, they still did the repair. I didn't even realize how bad the tie rod was until driving out... the steering wheel had become so loose I didn't even notice. After these guys repaired it, the steering wheel is tight and the car drives awesome. These guys feel like family each time I'm there. Was back just last week, had a weird problem. Steering wheel shook when going over bumps on the highway. The symptom couldn't be recreated, but John and his team still NAILED it. Fixed it right at closing time, even though they were totally swamped that day. I was crazy impressed, they fixed it just going off the symptom I had described. THAT is a fantastic mechanic, rather team of mechanics. Plus they went above and beyond, filled my leaky fluids up as well. I could go on and on about how much I love these guys. I don't take my car anywhere else. There is one reason that my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with almost 220k miles still runs clean and strong -- it's these guys!!! I trust them 10000%. You'll read negative reviews with long waiting times -- true, it's better to drop your car off, BUT it's because so many people come to them. They're always swamped, especially on Fridays and the weekend. They don't really work on an appointment basis, it's more like first come first served. I recommend either dropping off (ideal), or call ahead to see how busy it is. I bet weekday mornings are the best. Anyways... this is long, because I can't express enough how good these guys are. Excellent customer service all around. You can tell they truly care for the customer. When my car was recently making a weird sound and something was shaking underneath, I stopped in after 6 o clock not expecting to get anything done that night, just hoping to have my car checked to make sure it was okay to drive and see how much it was going to cost me. The shop seemed fairly busy but as soon as I walked in the manager greeted me and right away had one of his guys take my car out for a test drive. After driving it around and putting it up on the lift to tighten a loose part and change a small piece keeping something together he came back in less than 10 minutes, handed me my keys and told me all fixed I was good to go. Took our Jeep to Mavis for inspection and breaks that they said we need upon inspection. Next day driving on 481 with my 3 month old the vehicle began to shake and pull to the right. I went home and my fiancée checked the tires. The front driver side tire the lug nuts were so loose he could spin them with his fingers. Also the rear drivers side tire the lug nuts were very loose. When I went in to tell them the tire fell off after having driven the car with it violently shaking, they told me they weren't responsible after the car has been driven for 25 miles. I showed up 10 minutes early and waited for about 20 minutes before assistance that informed me that they did not have the tires and that maybe they would be there tomorrow. Had oil change done in fall at Mavis BAldwinsville,NY on HOnda Pilot. Took for next old change at Pep Boys- . They found the oil pan threads stripped and actually came out upon removal of the drain plug (they gave me the plug plus the metal threads hanging off it). Took car to JOhn Case - mgr - he refused to believe they had anything to do with it - full denial- "this could never happen in 1 oil change, maybe Pep BOys did this... n and on". I do feel he was tlaking down to me- as anyone can figure it out- they over torqued it and didthe damage. MAny years ago Valvoline did this- but they accepted responsibility and replaced the pan. Apparently MAvis just denies. Spoke to his boss Steve Koch- same bull. Called corporate- I asked who STeve;s boss was - CHris Schjorring- but get this - I was told " it's not in his job description to talk w/ customers". Over $400 will be needed to replace the oil plan at some point, as the plug they use is only temporary. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! read more

I had it looked at by another mechanic. They tried to pull a fast one. They couldn't even turn the air pressure light off on my car. The guy asked me what car mine was after I told him specifically what kind of car I had. I said the red one. He laughed at me, making me feel stupid, and said there are a few red ones out there. And I told him well I just told you I had a Mazda a second ago and it is the only one out there. They think they are funny but they are offensive. I took my car in because the exhaust was noisy. They said I needed everything replaced from the converter back. They had my car for three days Sat thru Mon. Two days later I take my car to Evans Chevy for an unrelated matter and they pointed out that the muffler was dinged up pretty good and the exhaust was leaking soot from a gap in the pipes. I took it back and asked for warranty info (it was not on my receipt). They couldn't provide me with anything in writing and said it would be three days until they could look at it. I said you did a terrible job and showed him pics but I still had to wait until Sunday. I called late Sunday and they agreed that the muffler was damaged and their was a gap in the pipes. They called me 10 minutes before close on Monday to say it was ready which meant another day without a car. I picked the car up on Tuesday. They never once apologized for the poor job or my inconvenience and they never offered me any type of courtesy discount or anything. I never signed anything for the rework so there's no documentation of any kind. I will never go back and I will never recommend this shop to anyone. read more
