Repeatedly was given wrong information. First they told me wrong information about tires they had in stock. Then they put the wrong tires on and didn't tell me. If you have all the time in the world and trust auto mechanics unconditionally, then this is the right place for you. I called 2 days in advance to schedule an appointment. 3 hours for 4 tires and an alignment. The place was not busy at all, you could actually watch the mechanics (all around 20 years old) chit chat and goof around through the large viewing glass in the waiting room. In the end, apologized for the wait and gave me a whopping 20.00 off the "overpriced" alignment. My first and last time at this place. When there over the weekend to get tires. They quoted $700 for 4 tires. But then they didn't have them there. They had one. They would have to get them in 3 different places. We went elsewhere and got good tires, balance and wipers for less then $500. I have heard not so good things about mavis and now I know why. read more

What a rip off. My daughter went in there to have her snow tires removed and have her all seasons put back on. She was told by representative that she needed new brakes, at $400.00 and that if she drove off the lot she was endangering her life. I went in there to find out exactly what she needed. We took the car to 2 other places to get estimates, all the car needed was brake pads. Never again!! read more

After having my vehicle successfully pass inspection at a local authorized inspection location I stopped at the nearby Mavis Tire on Dolson Avenue for my complimentary wheel rotation as I had purchased my tires from them. A couple of weeks earlier I had my mechanic check over the entire vehicle headlights to tail lights as the vehicle's inspection would be due shortly. After a very long wait the tires were finally rotated at no charge and I was told, not shown, that my vehicle needed immediate front end work or grease was going to start pouring out of the boots! The next day I drove my vehicle to my mechanic and they checked it over again advising there is absolutely nothing wrong with any components in the front end and while the rubber boots do show signs of wear, nothing is going to happen to make my vehicle unsafe to drive and no grease or oil is going to be gushing out of the front end components. It is unfortunate that a business whose strength is in tire sales has to fabricate problems with their customer's vehicles in order to generate more revenue. After many years of purchasing tires from Mavis after this experience I will be purchasing quality brand name tires in the future from another local tire reseller who is honest. read more

I brought my daughter's car in because I heard something snap up by the front passenger side wheel. They told me I needed new struts and control arm. Mechanic also said the brake and transmission fluids were low. Total estimate to fix car was $707. When I showed up to pay the bill, the new total was $825! When I said that wasn't what I was told, the mechanic said the asst. mgr was new and that he must have done something to the bill. They adjusted it "down" to $743. I wasn't happy but paid the bill. The next few days I noticed a green fluid on the ground under the car. I brought it back to them and they said the strut was leaking. They told me they would replace it. They replaced both struts in case they came from a "bad batch". They also said in order to make amends for the billing discrepancy, they installed new struts that cost about $100 more than the original ones. I also mentioned that I did not ask to have the brake or transmission fluids replaced. I thought they were going to top-off the brake and transmission fluids. He said "I told you we were going to replace them because the company has me use the same pitch every time." Apparently, this is a common practice?! All of this happened 5 months after I had brought the same car to the Mavis in Florida, NY to get 2 snow tires. They said the rear struts were bad and needed to be replaced. They also said replacing the rear struts would require an alignment. That visit also cost $750! On top of all that, I did not receive an itemized invoice. They could only show me the pricing on the screen because of a supposed "software issue." The actual receipt only shows the services provided with no pricing for each item - just the total at the bottom of the invoice. When I asked the Middletown Mavis if I needed an alignment because new struts were installed he said new struts would not have any effect on the alignment. The Florida Mavis said that to install the new struts an alignment would be a necessity. Who do you believe?! I am sending a copy of this letter to the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General. We entrust these people to make our cars safe and instead we end up paying an excessive amount of money for inferior parts and services that were not requested or necessary. Unfortunately I'm the owner of a Mercedes-Benz after going to Wappinger's Falls which I had an appointment at 8:30 I arrived at 8:10 gave my keys in sat in the waiting room till 9:45 AM only to be told they couldn't get to my car to change one flat tire it was already in my trunk all I needed was a tire mounted and placed on the car, however I was compensated with a new tire but now I have to be across town at Middletown by 10:15 am with the donut on my car and now my left tire was leaking air originally I started the morning with three tires at 34 psi by 11:57 AM I had one tire at 34 psi ,one at 33psi and One donut on the right rear and the left rear Leaking now at 25 psi after going to various tire places in Middletown MAVIS TIRES was the only one to not only have the extra tire that I needed for this particular model but they even mounted my new tire on the rim which most places told me I would have to purchase a tire from them in order to have it mounted even Sams Club which I've been a member for over 20 years needless to say if I have any difficulties with tires on any of my vehicles I will be coming back to Mavis the young men there were efficient courteous and responsive to my needs they were able to pull out a nail from the other tire and repair it also the waiting room was clean they even have a children's area ,I had one car in front of me I was exasperated by the ordeal the young man manage to get me in and out in less than 25 minutes it's nice to know some company still believe in customer service and diligence thank you Mavis from Middletown . read more

I find it really hard to find managers and workers that stand wholeheartedly by what a company is about. I stopped by because a tire of mine was about to give out and I inquired about a fix I had gotten ata different location. After speaking to Luis the manager, he explained to me what the car needed and explained to me the importance of the maintenance, he didn't have to up sell me anything, he was simply honest and clear. I think mavis needs to enforce this type of attitude across its different locations because i came here out of necessity and hadn't planned on coming back. I wish there was an option for no stars...I have been to this mavis on 211 many times, you would've thought I'd learn from my mistakes. Today I brought in my daughter's car for 4 tires and an inspection. They tried to up sell an alignment which I declined. After starting the work they called my husband and told him 2 of the studs were broken when they took the tires off and would need to be replaced with an additional $250 price tag. They weren't broken before we brought the car in because my husband just recently did brakes on the car. Then when I told them I no longer wanted the inspection, they told me I couldn't cancel it, it had already been completed. I wondered how is it possible in the 15 minutes since they called my husband, they changed 4 tires and did an inspection, they must have a NASCAR pit crew working for them! They have lost my business and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. They should be ashamed of themselves, scamming the people that keep them in business. read more

They do not have tires on hand. Have to be shuttled to store the next day. Inventory system is a mess. They ordered me a tire from their warehouse which showed 5 tires, told me it would be here the next day at 2:30. The tire never showed because, the tire didn't exist. No phone Call, & attitude from manager when i showed up at store to question what was going on and if the tire was coming. Argued with me about their price match policy, telling me He's not selling me a tire at less than cost. ( advertised $6 cheaper at walmart. lol) Just Horrible service all around. Went down the street to Discount Tire and they had the tire ON HAND, matched Mavis tires price and balanced & installed for free!! $14 @ Mavis. Don't waste your time going to Mavis Tire unless you can afford to wait for service and like an attitude for your business at this new location. read more

Very dissatified. I am a whosale customer and businessman that is in business for over 4 decades here in Middletown. I tried to purchase a replacement tire for one of my customers who had recently purchased his new tires there as we were doing repairs to his vehicle. Our regular supplier Tire Discount Center right up the street didn't sell that off brand. It was nothing but a dog and pony show right from start. They acted like this was a favor to me and kept calling me for an OK to order same. I didnt really care what the tire cost me I only said I needed it for my customer. So next they insisted on holding my credit card number and info as "security" even though I said just charge the card now or that I'd come right over with our business check as we are nearby them but not to keep my CC info around. Nope...they wanted my credit card infor to be held until the tire showed up in a week or so or for whatever. I said it was improper to keep my CC info laying around but they didn't care and just argued with me telling me what they think I should know as a businessman blah blah blah....all the while being disrespectful! It's interesting to note that we have to re-certify each year as a credit card merchant that we propect our customers info and that we don't store their CC iinfo. Apparently they could care less about their customers or their credit card security. So I cancelled the order right a way, even though I gave them my CC info so as not to hold up my customer. I ordered the same tire on line from Discounttires.com and for about 40% less with no freight charge, 2 day service..and most importantly I was treated like a customer and my CC info is fully protected!!! First we had our oil changed here and the next day our oil light came on so, we came back. The man working here said he didn't know how to fix it so he looked it up on his phone. Good prices, no waiting, and honest mechanics! I brought my car in for my free tire rotation, and an oil change. They took my car right in. They looked at everything, and told me I needed rear brakes (which I knew I did). The manager offered to take me outside to show me the brakes, which I went and inspected for myself. They also suggested the power steering flush, which I have never had changed (2005, 120,000 miles.) I let them do the work, all done for a very competitive price. Very happy with the service and the quality of work. I go to this Mavis for both my cars and all my tires, never had a problem. read more
