I will never be coming here again. First we called the store and they told us 40 min. Than we dropped off and at drop off they said 2 hours. We called after 2 hours and they said they are just getting to it now. Everything we've been told is a lie here. I came in because after 3 hours we still didn't hear back. Been waiting in the lot and I see them take off the wrong wheel and tell me how bad my rear breaks are... i went in to get the 2 front tires replaced. Why are I taking off my back wheels. After we went into the lot to wait, they went away and no one was near the car. After another 20 min of seeing no one near the car I walk in and see four young kids maybe age 20 or less all on their phones in uniform talking about movies and magazines. No ones working on the car. I tell them I have to leave and they said okay 15 min we'll be done. Needless to say they weren't done in 15 min. It took another 40 min after that. I had 5 hours to spare and I was still late to my next appointment because of Mavis. This place lost all my respect and service moving forward which sucks because I just moved into this area and needed a decent tire place. If the owner is reading this. Casseus, David, Fernando? and the other younger gentlemen working are the reasons I'll never be back here again. And you should reconsider paying these guys to sit and do nothing when cars are on the loft not being worked on. read more

Took my car to the dealership last week and was told I need substantial repairs done out of no where. I wanted a second opinion and took it to Mavis as I have had excellent experiences with them in the past. They took the time to look over every "issue" the dealership said I had and even took it for a test drive to make sure it was running ok. As I was suspicious of, the dealership was just trying to make $ and there wasn't anything actually wrong. Grateful for Casseus who was very kind and helpful through the entire process! Bought four tires from Mavis since they had the best tires, which btw you can negotiate a good price over the phone. Get there to have them install it on my Honda, took a while but they did install it. Went home to check the torque on the tires and, go figure, all of them were torque to different numbers. Some were barely hand tight, while others were over my torque wrench spec of 200ft/lbs! Basically, they don't use a torque wrench and had I been driving on the highway, the wheels would have fallen off due to inadequate torque. I brought my daughters 2020 Corolla to this shop on Saturday 6/4 and explained per my daughter,the brakes needed adjustment and she was applying more force to stop the car. I brought the car there as opposed to Toyota Service because I was quoted a price of $169 for pads/shoes for front brakes. The car has 24k miles on it. When I had it checked out the person I spoke with claimed all 4 tires needed replacing in addition to the basic brake work. I questioned how I could need 4 new tires and when I went back to the shop the technician did not adequately explain why and said the tires were "rotted". I saw one of the tires ; it did not look that bad to me. And the manager on duty said that "this is the reason you were hearing a noise". I NEVER said there was any "noise" because there was no noise. Having said all of the above I paid over $800 for 4 tires and a supposed brake job. Now for the real problem. When I drove the car home after the brakes and tires were done , on the highway, the car was shaking daily violently at 60mph. I should've turned around and went right back but I waited till yesterday 6/5 when my daughter drove on the highway and confirmed my suspicions. With my trust level for Mavis fixing the problems correctly now eradicated, and with my daughter needing the car for work, I switched vehicles with her and took her car to Toyota this morning. 6/6. They confirmed the following: 1) the car had been evaluated for routine maintenance within the last two months and if 4 new tires were actually needed, that would have been explained to me and listed as a recommended service. NOTHING was pointed out by Toyota that new tires were needed on this vehicle, which again currently has 24k miles on it. 2) The brake work that was done was inadequate because Toyota pointed out to me that rotors needed to be cut as well, which was not mentioned by the Mavis people. So now I paid Toyota $500 additional to do the brakes correctly; 3) Most important. The "shaking" issue was caused by the simple fact that the new tires were not put on correctly and no wheel balancing could have been done. I am pursuing reimbursement for my entire bill with Mavis from 6/4 and am COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED with how this was handled. If I do not receive satisfaction in this regard I will pursue this with a small claim or seek legal assistance. read more

i was already having a particularly bad day & then i got a random piece of metal wedged into my tire. i headed to this mavis location as it was most convenient for me. the staff immediately lightened my mood with their friendly demeanor. they removed the piece of metal & plugged it up within 15 minutes! one of the guys even opened my car door for me as i am currently on crutches & it can be somewhat difficult to get in and out of the car. it was quite possibly the best experience i've ever had when it comes to having something fixed on my car. i would definitely drive out of my way for great service like this. read more

Williston Park Mavis Discount Tire Do NOT use this tire store. Do not get sucked in by their quotes. You cannot trust that they will put the correct tires on. The Williston Park Mavis tire store quoted a Goodyear tire on the phone, then put on a Citytraxx tire. Then while they had the car, they called to tell me the back brakes were no good - rusty. (Definitely do NOT get taken in by any such "up sells") When asked for the price - I was told "$79." When my son got the bill (I wasn't there for car pick up), the bill was for $168. + $79 + wrong tires (and a completely different charge) + $14 extended warranty that was not requested. They stated on the bill that "customer states check brakes, check shocks, check battery life. None of these were requested. They are scam artists and misrepresenters. His boss then was obnoxious stating the cheapest tire he had was 140 and that this is what they had decided. I want to give a POSITIVE "shout--out" to MAVIS TIRE in Williston Park. Yesterday, I heard a strange clicking noise while driving. I looked at my front driver tire, and there was a nail embedded in it. On two separate occasions, my fiance and I had brought in our cars for servicing. When I spoke to the manager on the phone, he gave me their business hours and to just come in whenever I can during that time since my name is in the system. I showed up about 2 hours before closing and the manager said all their techs went home early because it was a slow day. He then gave me his business card again and told me to call before dropping by to find out if there are techs still there working. Second time, my fiance brought in his car early in the morning to rotate the tires. He was told it would take about an hour. A little past an hour later, he called them up to find out if it had been done because he needed to take it to work. They said no. We waited another hour and they were finally done. I've never had this much trouble at an auto shop. If you are busy, don't tell us to come back when it has not even been touched. At least give your customers a decent time frame if you already have a packed schedule. read more

A bunch of crooks! My car was making a noise so I stopped to have them take a look. I was told my car was in dire need of brakes and pads and that driving with them in the condition they were in was very dangerous. I got a funny feeling and when I took my keys back and said I'd have to come back Julio (the Manager) insisted I get this done right now. When I asked for my keys I got an attitude. The next day I went to another mechanic who told me I needed two tires. When I mentioned the brakes and pads they showed me that my breaks were in great condition and did not need replacing at all. This place saved me! Was borrowing a friends van and the tire blew out on the Northern State. No spare. I removed the rim from the van and a friend came and picked me and we took the rim and shredded tire to this location. I'm one of those guys that researched tires and prices before buying. After researching Costco, TireRack, Firestone, etc, I choose Mavis due to their selection and prices. I made an appointment online and one of the attentive technicians, Cassius, contacted me the next day to make sure they ordered the correct tires and any other concerns I had, such as my TPMS light being on for a year. Julio, the manager of the Williston Park Mavis, was wonderful. He had the tires waiting and took my car at the agreed upon time. He recommended an alignment, but left it up to me to decide. After researching that recommendation, I decided it was appropriate since I had not had one in years for my van. I also did not need the TPMS equipment changed....a huge savings. Well, I could not be happier. No more TPMS light or road noise and the handling felt tighter as well. I could not be happier. Thank you Mavis Williston Park. Some of the worst service I've ever received. Had to have same rim repaired twice within a two week period, questioning if it was ever repaired the first time. First visit $600+, second visit $700+ because more tire/rim issues not seen on first visit 2 weeks earlier? Oh and on the second trip, my car was there for nearly a week before it was even looked at. When I stop in to see what's going on nobody even knew my car was there. Not sure if they are reputable but it feels questionable. Will not receive my business again! Update: Turned out when I got my car back, and they replaced the tire. They didn't set up the Tire Pressure Gauge correctly. When I go in, they tell me without looking at it that it needs to be replaced. When I say I'll go somewhere else Julio becomes nasty and rude. When I ask to speak to a manager, he says he is the manager. This is the same guy who left my car sitting there for close to a week, I bring that up and he blames me! Julio is a disgrace of a manager and a disgrace of a man. Totally dishonest and not someone who should receive anyone's business. Update 2: Called the number supplied below for customer service. Was promised a call back by the regional manager, never received it. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. This location was bad, apparently it's systemic with the company. I asked a printout of what he pulled up since he seemed like he was reading it off but all he did was dismiss me. Trying to be constructive but it's very hard to do when the manager is already rude and mean and has nothing to show for it. I told him I'm coming in for his promotional road trip special (a tire rotation, 28pt vehicle inspection and oil change). I even opted out for the the vehicle inspection and told him I needed the tire rotations badly. Being a first timer at STS I labeled my tires so I knew if they rotated them or not. I leave it their for the day come back and the manager expects me to pay full price for just an oil change. He even made his mechanic come to me and lie to me. So earlier this year my car nearly got swallowed whole by a pot-hole and a tire perished from the incident resulting in me having to finally give in and get 4 new shoes for my Mazdarati. Julio (I presume the owner) was extremely busy that day and seemed crazy, not because of the amount of business but because he just seems a little crazy. (he really is not crazy after all) Never the less he took my car, I got new tires, belts, a tune up and oil change. Several months pass and my rolling beast is having some issues where the rpms get "stuck" and the car just keeps going. I am once again in the area of this STS shop, (I live 200 miles away) I call first, Julio answers, and says come on in. I do so, It seems to be an average day. he takes my car right in hooks it up to the computer runs some test and while he is at it I request an oil change. The mechanic comes out and says I have low transmission fluid. Julio calls me to the counter, (after an hour of me staring at the $95 per hr flat rate and tallying up the computer test and oil change with the "special filer") and presents me with the total $37.00 He only charged me for the oil change. I live in Williston Park but this is the worst Mavis experience I've had, I went for an inspection around 2:00 pm the guy working the desk was rude told me "they are really busy" & to come back around 3:30 pm, So I leave & come back at 3:30, the same guy ignored me for like 15 mins, he was moving around a lot going from the desk to the garage, then running outside to talk to the workers. After speaking to them on the phone, as I was insured that I would be in and out within an hour. Upon arrival, I was told my car needs to be left overnight, and the price was higher. I asked why I was told a different story and was then called an A*****E! I calmly responsed, "Sir, there is no reason for you to talk to me that way." They were going to charge me 400$ for a number of problems they claimed my car had. STS is now Mavis. I found them through the Mavis website when I was shopping around for a specific set of tires for my SUV. Instead of booking an appointment through the Mavis site (they wanted to charge $3.99 per tire for overhead fees) i went directly to the shop. Julio gave me an even better price. I Returned the following day for the install. All 4 tires replaced in less than 45min. He showed me my old tires and the uneven wear and recommended an alignment at a discounted price. Since I wasn't done with the gelato I bought across the street, I had the alignment done which took only another 25min. Best tire changing experience to date. Fast and the total price of tires AND alignment was cheaper than the quote I got from another shop for tires only. 1 star deducted because they didn't remove the blue protective paint over the whitewall of the tires. Now I need to find a bucket, soap and scrub brush. read more
