This is my favorite little coffee shop and lunch spot! They have a wonderful chai latte that is perfectly spicy, they also have a tasty earl grey latte. I love the treats available from cookies to brownies to pie! I've had their pumpkin cheesecake and it was amazing! There was also a s'mores brownie I'd love more of, as well as Oreo cupcakes! Max Porter's is hands down one of the best executed coffee shops in a small town that I've ever experienced. The small town feel of Junction City flows right into the front door of Max's, but into an open and airy layout that makes you just want to sit down and catch up with someone you haven't seen in months. The food and drink offerings are unfussy in the best way imaginable, and portions are surprisingly stout for a cafe or coffee shop. The baked goods are artisan and made in-house by the owners. The cinnamon rolls are worth the drive alone. Service has always been fantastic for me -- food quality has been consistently wonderful and the baristas welcomingly and effectively made a few custom alterations to beverages upon my request. A wonderful small cafe with friendly service. Tables not crowded together despite the limited space. The food was very tasty and non-pretentious. I ate the jalapeno popper panini, which was toasted to perfection and filled with balanced ingredients. The food was served hot for our party of four. I had the hillbilly panini, dad had one of their killer salads. Both my fruity iced tea and his coffee were perfect. I'd love to come back, plug in a laptop and enjoy the good vibe while I work. I've had multiple good experiences but the service was so SLOW on Friday at lunch. At least part of the reason was the staff were not able to work and talk at the same time. They were having a great time chatting but meanwhile our lunch took over 20 minutes to get out. It took about 5 minutes just for our order to be taken. Max's is absolutely the best. Meet up with friends? Max's. Need to get some work done? Max's. Casual coffee date? Max's. It is a catch-all hub for Junction City. And with the new remodel, there is much more seating available for all. As for food and drink, the coffee is great, the food is very tasty for a modest price, and to top it all off, the service is impeccable. The staff is always pleasant, and not once have I felt like an inconvenience. Oh! And the daily fresh baked goods are sinfully delicious. Max's is a nice cafe. If you're looking for a place that is coffee-centric, this is not it. However, the coffee isn't terrible and the chai is very sweet. I think the food is better than the drinks and it is very affordable. They have rotating specials and it usually costs $5.95. The people who work the counter are very friendly and will happily tell you about any of the food/drink items. The interior is very cute and has lots of seating for meetings and things like that. I used to have a Bible study that met up here and we never had a problem getting seats for 4-8 people. This is definitely the best place that Junction City has to offer for a place to work on your laptop or have a long conversation. read more

What an awesome spot! I initially ordered a coffee and a poppyseed cupcake with cream cheese frosting. After I had sat down I spotted that they also served soup. So I ordered potato soup with a sourdough wedge. The space was low key and had great customer service with a real home vibe. I appreciated the genuine kind service as well as the yummy treats. Very disappointed. I've gone here 6-8 times in the last 4 years when passing through. I always get the crantastic Special. This was worse than a bad deli. Not real turkey but pressed. The cranberries or cream cheese were barely evident. My side salad was old. My hubby had the same but a whole one. So sad. Maybe new owners? read more

I have only been here one time before this week. As a whole food plant based eater I have a hard time finding food at coffee places. The morning I went I did not have time to eat so I was thinking I would be eating nothing or something not on my usual intake. When I asked about getting a sandwich the barista/server was very accommodating when I explained what I wanted. I got a grilled veggie sandwich with a slice of watermelon for a mere 4.25. I have been to Max Porters several times. I suffer from extreme anxiety and fear of crowds but the atmosphere here and the layout of the coffee shop is comfortable to where I can sit and enjoy time with family or friends. You can choose from a good selection of fancy coffee or teas and if you don't feel like a fancy coffee you can enjoy a good brewed regular cup of coffee with their delicious pastries, sandwiches, etc. Great options, wonderful place! read more

There are lots of locals and young adults that were there giving the place a poplar and fun feel. Still, the environment was quiet enough for me to get some work done before a meeting. This is the place to go for lunch. They are overpriced so you end up going there more. :) Fast enough for those 30 lunch breaks and if you have more time eating there is a treat. Live it, recommend it to everyone. Staff can sometime be a little short. I know they are busy but still can not show their stress to customers. We came to Junction City for the Scandinavian Festival and when it got too hot we noticed this air conditioned coffee shop and decide it was time for iced coffee. We actually had our Æbleskiver in hand from a food cart but the barista said it was fine if we brought in festival food. Se we all ordered iced coffee drinks and sat down inside to eat. The two baristas were very friendly and the coffee shop is really neat inside, almost like a Tardis. It actually has two large rooms in the back with books and games and one room had what looked like a VHS with kid movies. Very nice brick type decor. We'll come back next year! read more

So I had a weekend full of birthday visits and this place is great!!! I was here once before using a reserved room for a bridal shower and it was fantastic! I've been excited to visit again. Friday was that time. I went there with my 6 year old and hubby to have a little birthday special time after dropping my older kid at school. They have great coffee, great desserts and pastries and actually pretty great food! One special things it that they are kid friendly, they have a VCR, movies and a cute little nook in the room we had reserved before and in that room is a basket of crayons and coloring bookds that they let kids take to other areas. So I can hang with hubby and my kid is occupied too. They also have kids books on the impressive bookshelves they have. Anyone should have no problem finding a book to read. Overall, this is just a great place. There are several areas to sit so you can have privacy or be with people. There are tables out front as well. This is a fun place that offers a lot of options. My wife and I go here regularly and we like it a lot. Their coffee is very good and they also have a nice menu. It is owned by a number of JC locals and there always seems to be an owner working, so the service is good. We also enjoy the atmosphere and feel of the place. It's in a very old building with high ceilings and lots of exposed brick...very cool. Max Porter's is also an excellent place for having a business lunch. There are some private areas in the back that make for a great meeting spot. read more
