If you arrive in Munich, especially during Oktoberfest, in search of Weissbier, Pilsner, Dunkel, Kölsch, Bock, you should round out the food you pair with your brew and have some amazing noodles at Max's. The only reason we had lunch at this spot was a table could only be had after a 40 minute wait on the curb. Feet almost never lie, especially when what drives those feet is hunger and a sharp, discerning taste. When it comes to this variety of noodles, I've spent years living in Asia and Max's brought be back to one of my favorite hawker centers. They make the noodles right in front of you. The broth, the beef, the spice.... perfection. Just for fun, I added a Fanta to my meal and then begged for another hit of noodles, which they will do, if you ate the type of person to finish them before consuming the broth, which is the correct way to eat Chinese noodles. read more

Pick a bad weather day off season, and happen to luck out passing by a bit before 5pm, if you don't care to wait 45min or so in line. Yes it's super popular. Max' is one of those few super efficiently run seated places where you don't need to feel obliged to tip or even order a drink, which makes the bill quite cheap by Munich standards. The beef soup ... is thin, consisting mostly of cheap noodles and watery broth that you need to make flavorable with the chili on your table. It's a weird niche they found here ... maybe their soupless noodle dishes are more savory, but I doubt I'll be back for more, and definitely won't wait for a spot. read more

Amazing local place. Quaint, fun, and lively atmosphere. Line out the door on a Friday night. Not a date spot get in eat your fill slurp you noodles and move along! Food is spectacular watching them make the noodles fresh right in front of you and through them in the kettle helps make the food taste even better! Plan on getting cozy we went as a couple and they sat two local guys that go there weekly at our table, which was perfect for us we are very social and it was fun to hear of some of the stuff to do from people who live there! read more

Max is great if you're looking for asian food in the area. The wait is long, about 30 minutes! They only accept cash which I did not know until reading reviews. I didn't really see a sign that said cash only at the restaurant. The food is great and fresh. I'm coming from California and it's close to being similar but more simple. One awkward scenario is when waiting in line they have you fill a white sheet what you wanted. But the problem is the menu is only the bottom of the stairs where you would be next in like to be seated. When my husband and I were next it was so quick that we weren't ready to order via paper in line because we just got to the bottom of the stairs. So the worker seated people who were ready behind us. It would have been nice to add more items while sitting down at your table vs forcing us to order while in line without the menu near us since we weren't familiar with the items. read more

Delicious, freshly made Chinese noodles! Definitely a great option especially if you're on a budget. I went here for dinner after doing an all day excursion and I definitely made the right choice. Most definitely the best noodle shop in Munich as the line tends to be quite long. The line does move and the staff tends to treat the guests waiting in line with a cup of tea which makes the entire experience better They will also take your order while you're standing in line so by the time you get seated, the dishes are brought out to you promptly. Little bit of a wait but TOTALLY worth it. Got served little treats multiple times while we waited. Had the wontons, cucumber salad with a healthy addition of chili crunch-DELICIOUS!!! Max's Beef Noodles is so good on a cold winter day like today. But also, a great idea if you're tired of eating schnitzel and bratwurst day after day in Munich. This business is efficient! The line was long but easily tamed. The environment was fast and casual. The food was excellent. I had to share a table with another couple, but I didn't mind because the line went by fast and the food came out quick. Excellent service, great food. Expect long line to be seated. The noodles are cooked just about right. Not too soggy, not too firm.

We arrived at Max's beef noodle with a little line formed outside. I want to say we waited about 15 mins to get in. They were very fast and efficient. It was get in and out type of place. In line they passed out tea and shrimp crackers for you to eat and drink while you waited. When you get closer to the front you can fill out your order on a form. They also had pictures to show you the different dishes. When we got inside it was very cramped, but I didn't mind cause we were there to eat! Our food came pretty quickly too! My husband got the Max beef noodle and i got the Mala. Both dishes were delicious and I loved the spicyness of my noodle soup. The hand pulled noodles had a good bite! We definitely will come back the next time we're in town. Don't think they take card so bring cash! read more

Max's Beef Noodles are a godsend for us when we were craving for some good Asian food in Munich. This place is a family-owned restaurant, with the owner Max hand pulling noodles on display! We got the Max's Beef Noodle Soup and the Chongqing Noodle Soup. The noodles of course were very tasty. The bone broth for the beef noodle soup was really nice and hearty. The Chongqing Noodle Soup was pretty spicy, but still really flavorful. The only thing I had to complain about was that the beef for Max's Beef Noodle Soup wasn't very good. Wish it was a bit more fatty/tender like in other traditional 牛肉面 dishes. But otherwise, would definitely recommend!! read more

My wife and I were in the area on 16th May, 2024. We found there was a long line for the beef noodle soup. We joined the line and we were immediately served with a glass of tea. While we were waiting, we found that they only accepted cash. This was the last day of our trip and we were running out of Euro. As we were leaving, the owner knew our situation and kindly offered us free meals. Even though later on we found out we still had more Euros in other pockets. We really appreciated his kindness. By the way, the noodle soup is very delicious. It is free to refill your noodles if you have a big stomach. Great portion of meat. Clean bathroom and all the servers are very kind. Tldr: delicious hand-pulled noodles with friendly service but a bit pricy for the serving size. This was such a godsend. We were hiding from a sudden thunderstorm and stumbled on this gem. The hand-pulled noodles here are delicious! They are delightfully chewy and cooked to a perfect al-dente. The owner was super sweet. We were greeted with glasses of tea and when my dad was concerned about not having enough veggies in his noodles, the owner offered to make sure they put extra in his. The tea earned huge hospitality points. Most restaurants in Europe don't offer complementary water much less tea, so this bit made everything extra homey. They even let us stay after we finished eating and offered us more tea while we waited out the rain! The soup noodles had a flavorful broth which did a great job complementing the noodles. My one critique is the scarcity of toppings. My hongshao beef soup noodle bowl came with 3 small pieces of beef and two leaves of bokchoy. Being a bit more generous with veggies and meat would be a huge plus. There's a 4€ difference in price for noodles with soup. Personally, I loved the soup, but 4€ is pushing my limit. Doesn't look like much as the restaurant is small and very unassuming. Decided to give it a try since it had great Yelp reviews and it was a station down from where we were staying. I had the beef noodle soup and my husband had the beef stew noodle soup. I watched the guy make the noodles once we placed our order. He made them from a glob of dough, stretching and stretching the dough over and over again, and soon there were the noodles for our noodle soup. Quick plunge into the steaming pot of water, and our order was ready. It offered a lot of noodles, and the broth was delicious. Everything was fresh. We ordered spinach salad, and got very fresh spinach steams or shoots which I have never seen back home in California. Everything was delicious and relatively inexpensive for the amount of noodles we received. At the end of our meal, we paid for it in cash and tried to tip our waiter and he told us no. Definitely not something you experience every day. You have to pay in cash, but well worth trying it out, especially if you like home made noodles. If you have spent time in Munich, you know that the variety of asian food is a bit more limited and really good quality is harder to find. Max's is my hands down go-to favorite asian place in Munich. If you haven't had beef noodle before then pick a chillier day and go! Its rich, flavorful broth, with tender beef, topped with beautifully fresh hand pulled noodles is beyond delicious. It is the perfect comfort food. And if you haven't had the pleasure to see hand pulled noodles being made, then this is one of the extra experiences you get here! It is wonderful to watch the master at work. It can take 10+ years to become a hand pulled noodles master in Asia and the work and skill to make the noodles just right is not something that should be over looked. Max's makes beef noodle on par with bowls that I have had in Taiwan and whenever I am missing Asia or just want a delicious meal this is where I go! I recommend trying all the soups. I ordered the fried beef noodles and was immediately hit with its authentic aroma. It's an honest dish with two types of vegetables: bean sprouts and paprika mixed with chunks of beef and hand-pulled noodles. There was chilli oil on the table and that was all I need to get the full taste. They served only fried rice, two kinds of fried noodles and beef noodle soup - their specialty.
