This place is amazing, if you have the money. It's quite possibly my favorite boutique in Los Angeles, nay, anywhere I've ever been. The stone garden you are greeted by in their lot already tells you; you are going to be wowed inside. They have everything my little beating black heart desires... including black satin heart boxes with red chocolate skulls in them for Valentine's Day. Again... if you have the money. Two pieces of chocolate ran me $90. The clothing. Amazing. This store reinforces the fact that people that love fashion, love the color black. Gorgeous black boots by Jean-Michel Cazabet and Dior Homme line the shelves. An amalgam of black shirts line the walls with matching black ties neatly folded into a tray. In truth, it's to buy me a couple of Ernte jackets from Maxfield. I mean... they're so PRETTY!!! And you know, my Mom told me to only buy something if I've thought about it for longer than a month. And let me tell you... I've been thinking about those jackets for 2 YEARS. Since I drooled over them at a fashion show involving body mod and gas masks. So. Come On. It's no biggie! This place.... so nice. You have the amusement of seeing paparazzi dudes waiting outside, and the expected insanely attentive service inside. And if you're not quite the metrosexual boy type who wants to spend thousands of dollars on clothing, they have architecture books for you to look at. Because they're sweet and considerate like that. Was SO happy to hear that Apple chose Maxfield to roll out its new Watches. My experience was much, MUCH different than some of the negative comments listed in these reviews. I decided to drive up from Orange County and do some research on the Apple Watch. I called ahead just to find out the protocol. They were polite, cheerful and encouraged me to come right away. I arrived and there was no wait. I went directly to the display. Along the way security and staff were extremely polite and courteous. I asked the main desk about the watches and they gave me a little information. They then handed me off to an extremely knowledgable employee who walked me through each model. They had no idea if I was buying the lowest end model or more pricey versions. Again, they were far more polite and engaged than staff I encounter on a daily basis. I told them my wish to buy 2 as gifts and one for myself. They politely explained the process to achieve this. It was beyond reasonable for a product that is impossible to get. The watch I chose was not in the store at the time. The cashier rang up my order and yet again explained the procedure to pick up my item. Everyone in this store and I do mean EVERYONE, was polite, helpful and in good spirits. Within 48 hours I got a call saying head on up to get your watch. The streets in LA/Beverly Hills have always been a little "complex" for my liking. The parking in front of Maxfield however, plentiful and quite reasonable for metered spots. They do offer a valet service but I found a spot with over an hour left on it. Was all of 7 extra steps. Pick up was as easy as ordering. Again, more polite staff. There IS a process but it is clearly in place to keep it orderly. At no time was any staff even remotely rude to me. My experience was exactly what I'd expect from a beautiful little boutique like Maxfield. I liked the neighborhood. I'd rather it be in Beverly Hills than in a Walmart in a seedy neighborhood. Make the protocol part of the experience of getting something really cool before anyone else. Most importantly, just ask and they'll tell you! Thank you for a wonderful experience Maxfield. Surprisingly they made a total joke of the Apple Watch ordering process. First, you have to make an appointment - but you can't make an appointment on the phone or online, so you have to drive to the store, stand in line, and make an appointment for a later time. Then you get to come back at your appointment time, stand in line again, just so you can get to the counter and preorder a watch. You then pay in full, and wait for them to call you when your model comes in - but of course they can't tell you when that will be. And all sales are final - so you cannot return your watch for any reason, and you can't even cancel the preorder. The other complaint I have is their "complimentary valet." You pull in and park the car yourself, get a ticket from the "valet", and when you come out and walk to your car and hand the ticket to the "valet," he insists on taking the ticket, getting into your car, pulling ahead a few feet, and getting out and waiting for a tip. My tip is - get a real job. When I was finally allowed into the store, and mind you there were only two of us allowed in at a time and we were assigned to one clerk, the clerk suddenly disappeared completely, and we were both left staring at each other awkwardly. After 10 minutes I asked someone else to help me and they did. Now that I've vented, and to be constructive these are issues that are easily fixed and should be addressed by management, the assistant sales manager Oliver Lee did finally step in and go out of his way to help me. He delivered a high-level and personalized level of service that I expected from Maxfield, and it is because of him that I did not simply walk out and abandon the sale completely. So while my overall experience was pretty terrible, I must give credit to Oliver for salvaging my experience a bit. I will have to go back into Maxfield to pick up my watch, and I'll try to have an open mind. read more

From the blatant building to the Easter Island'esque concrete lawn jockeys.... when you first walk in you don't know what to expect. Expect the unexpected. They carry a meticulous assortment of "noir" fashion, vintage Prada, Hermes and Gucci luggage, Subversive jewelry and much much more. I was introduced to my Blackman Cruz Skull Lamps, my hip swaggering Jean Michel Cazbat Cubans, and my Jas M.B messenger bag. It is definitely worth going to when in Los Angeles, womens and mens collections are well edited and you can always find something you leave the store with, or wishing you could have. The sales staff is nice and friendly and even though there are many incredibly special and expensive pieces in the store, they are welcoming to me, and seemingly , to everyone. In all of my visits to high-end stores, never have I been so embarrassed for the employees, as I was for those at Maxfield. Not a single associate uttered a word in my direction, yet one salesperson crept closely behind--watching my every move. If I went to the women's section, she'd hurriedly find a corner close to that section to maintain her gaze. If I sauntered over to the sunglasses, there she'd be peering over my shoulder. The level of tomfoolery was quite nauseating and in fact, it cost them a customer. Stalking about as if you are a loss prevention agent rather than a salesperson does nothing more than belittle your potential customers. Oh Maxfield if only i can give you 0 stars for the way you handled the release of apple watch and still handling it. Not only did it take you a whole day to let people in that waited all night you cant event let the people know that are lined up in line today hoping to buy the watch when you open. Instead all the workers came in at about 9:30am walked passed the line without saying anything but than it took you an hour to come out and say there are no watches today. So it would seem I'm not the only one giving maxfield a one star review..at first I was very pleased with their customer service, the security guards outside as well as the lady taking appointments were very nice people BUT here comes the part you really want to hear about. When we bought our watches(yes they take your money on the spot) they had told us that our watches would be here within 2-3 business days...7 days later(and still counting) NO PHONE CALL! I'm finding that a lot of people are experiencing this same problem. My advice buy the watch with Apple and just wait it out...at least they keep you updated as to when your watch will be coming, maxfield just keeps you in the dark and all they can say is that they get shipment every day but can't tell you when your watch is coming! read more

While waiting in line Saturday April 25 for the Applewatch, I witnessed what I call an epitome of socio economic inequality /injustice. Maxfield could have used this opportunity to showcase their store and service but they did the exact opposite by exposing a glaring, insouciant, if not berating, attitude towards their customers. One of the security guys unsympathetically quoted "If you don't like being here, you can always leave" while we were drenched in the rain. Obviously it was a blatant MISJUDGED decision to use this store for the Applewatch release and I bet you Maxfield was not too thrilled dealing with people belonging to the lower end of the socio economic ladder. But wait, these are PAYING people who are educated and deserve some decency in any business transaction. read more

The first and only time I went to Maxfield, the staff felt a bit odd. Like just standing there very oddly or running around completely and blatantly ignoring you odd. When I finally found clothes in my aesthetic one of the sales people would not stop following me like she was eyeing my every move. It was definitely uncomfortable but I found a jacket I love by Isabel Marant and they also have Diptyque candles so that was fun as well. I do plan on going back for sure but hope that now that I know where to look for my fave brands it won't feel as odd. read more

Love Maxfield. Always super helpful in the men's section, and more than willing to help you track down things that you want as well as things you might not know you wanted. Have copped a few pieces of Fear of God here recently, as well as some Off White from the pop-up across the street. All transactions have been nothing but pleasurable. If you're looking for fashionable clothes/shoes/accessories, this is the go-to spot. Be prepared to drop some coin, as these are proper pieces. If you're looking for those ridiculous (in a good way) rockstar thigh-high drapey-leather Rick Owens boots that no one else seems to carry, this is probably where you'll find them. Maxfield carries a lot of the same brands as other luxury shops (e.g. Barneys), but their selection is more unusual. Kudos to the buyers. I would give them 5 stars if the store wasn't so dang crammed with stuff. The exterior of the store is deceivingly spacious, but once you get inside, It's feels a bit claustrophobic. Everything is lined up on racks and shelves; there is something to see everywhere you turn your head. The salespeople were mellow. They didn't give the typical luxury shop attitude: follow me around straightening up everything I touched, overwhelm me in the dressing room with tons of "you might like this" stuff, compliment me effusively just to get me to buy something. read more

If you're looking for avant garde fashion you can't do much better than Maxfield in LA, the birthplace of Rick Owens. Carpe Diem and Guidi boots alongside other similarly curated eccentric labels makes Maxfield one of the original and still among the best purveyors of the dark, drapey and esoteric aesthetic. You will never find a deal and lately their stock on Rick Owens has been running quite low (possibly due to his sudden rise to popularity from the likes of goth ninjas, street goths and A$AP Rocky). The outside architecture featuring monkey statues are unique and makes them standout against other boutiques. Unfortunately the same could not be said of their sales staff or interior store layout. They could learn much from Dover Street Market or Seattle's Totokaelo. The interior design does not seem as inspired though with such an eclectic array of labels, it is worth checking out then shopping else where. You will do with what you must as this type of boutique is a rarity along the West Coast. Ignore the reviews about the Apple Watch. This is not an electronic store. In fact, it makes no sense for Maxfield to be carrying the Apple Watch. It would be hard to find someone wearing Yohji Yamamoto, Comme des Garcon, Kris Van Assche and Maison Martin Margiela wihle rocking an Apple Watch. read more

After seeing the local news go here the store looked to be pretty good! But was my experience different. I wanted to by an apple watch sport. I drove up to the store and they said we have to have an appointment even though most of the workers were available. So I came 2 hours later to by my apple watch but they said they only have this ugly overpriced apple watch. I ordered the watch there but it's been 2 weeks. Your to go "high end" fashion place to shop at. Contains a variety amount of high end brands from Rick Owens, Off White, and Margiela. Maxfield is very hard to shop unless you come in knowing what you're looking for, because there is just SO MUCH merchandise. However, they have the best selection of brands I've seen in any store in California. It's a good mix of established luxury brands as well as newer lesser known brands. I like that when you shop here, it's more about buying into a look than just a label. Also, they have Baja East which is very hard to find. The staff is nice enough. Not stellar, but very polite. At the same time though, I was in and out within ten minutes since I knew in what I was shopping for so there wasn't much of a chance for interaction. Maxfield is like a temple. The clothes, jewelry and other items the store sells sit like object to be worshiped within the stone walls. Everything feels like a glorious cross between luxurious decadence, historical Gothic and occult mysteries. You probably have to sell your soul to the devil to afford the Comme des Garcons, Undercover, Carroll Christian Poell, Libertine, Rick Owens, Tom Binns but it is probably worth it. read more

I'm literally laughing out loud at the review explaining the store to be snazzy, du jour etc... I guess this is a typical example of Maxfield clientele - not much attention towards the actual product and service, but rather the posh-factor and amount of celebrity shoppers. this is of course a shame, as the store carries some rather exquisite designers which are hard to find elsewhere. prices are more than enough on many labels - heavy mark ups compared to other retailers, and the service is mostly snotty and apathetic. I'm sure flashing your wallet or name dropping the owner helps, but thats not how it should be at a store like this. in addition, its quite evident that the staff barely knows some of the designers they carry - on a few occasions I've had an SA mix up brand names quite shamefully or provide false facts. all in all, they have some amazing stuff, you just need to ignore the bad service and all irrelevant factors. sadly the prices are what they are, if you don't mind paying a bit more then elsewhere for some of the stuff, then why not. read more
