I hired this firm after a domestic dispute in 2021 and I hired them because I was told that they were top rated for both the LGBTQ community and in DV. They post this on their website, and they also campaign for local organizations like the Pride Center and YWCA, so I'm going to assume here that they do this, because.... Well how could they treat someone a certain way, when they give back so much?!?!? I imagine, that they are compassionate, as long as you have an exuberant amount of money to pay them, and can keep the flow of money coming, because its all they care about. I was hesitant to retain and I should have followed my gut. While Kayla did her "job" she sent some emails and filled out a separation document (like the ones you normally see in a divorce), it was the lack of compassion and care. She made me feel like crap on more than one occasion. I don't feel like she listened to my concerns, in fact she argued with me and would tell me how I was wrong (kind of like my marriage). When I would explain how her words and actions were making me FEEL, I was told to get a therapist. When my husband doesn't exercise visitation or pay towards his children, I'm still then told by them that I need to pay them over $5,000.00 and should just take out a personal loan. When an individual is going through a divorce, its hard enough. When theres kids, its another layer, when there is abuse, its ANOTHER added layer and divorce attorneys know this, in fact, they are the experts in it. I really feel as though this firm charges an insane amount of money to do as little work as possible and by that I mean, they will do the basics, and then tell you to be grateful. Find another firm. Also I'm going to note here that I fully anticipate this review either being deleted by them or them replying saying how I'm just a dissatisfied client who is upset I didn't get my way. The Colwell Law Group - Mrs. Amanda Iannone Judge Hens, age 31, terrible attorney!

I am writing this to warn others: do not be fooled by the radio advertisements. My experience with…read moreColdwell Law Group was an absolute nightmare that cost me over $30,000 and left my legal rights unprotected. It started with a "marketing representative" who made grand promises. I didn't realize at the time I wasn't speaking to a legal professional. My initial $2,500 retainer was gone before I even finished submitting my intake paperwork. During the process, I was shocked by the vulgar language used by the staff; I assume they use it to sound "tough" or like they are going to "get it done," but it is actually just unprofessional and a cover for their lack of progress. The Billing: This firm is a billing machine. They forced multiple attorneys to bill for outrageous hours--phone calls and emails that I am certain never took place. The Performance: How do I know the billing was fake? Because when my court date arrived, my attorney was completely unprepared. They had: No knowledge of our previous conversations. None of the evidence I provided to prove my ex-husband was not entitled to half of my bank account (funds from my portion of sold household assets). Because my attorney failed to pay attention to the specifics of my case, my ex-husband got to keep his assets AND take half of mine. In court, specifics and evidence are everything, and this firm failed to provide either. I am incredibly bitter that I trusted this firm. They are professional at marketing and billing, but completely incompetent in the courtroom. Save your money and your sanity: stay far away from Coldwell Law Group.

I had a very poor experience with Colwell Law Group. I paid over $10,000 and felt like very little…read moremeaningful work was actually done on my case. From the start, it seemed like I was being pushed to assign work to different people "just in case" something came up, which only added to the cost without giving me confidence that real progress was being made. Over the course of just a few months, I was passed between three different lawyers. The first attorney assigned to me was going on leave only two weeks later, which made me question why she was assigned to my case in the first place. Every time a new lawyer took over, I had to spend more time re-explaining my situation, only to later get random calls saying someone else was now handling the case. It felt disorganized, inefficient, and incredibly frustrating. What made it worse was that I repeatedly asked each lawyer about a payment I was owed during my case. Every time, I was told, "I'll look into that for you," but nothing ever happened. After switching to a new law firm, that payment issue was addressed and resolved within five days. That alone made it clear to me that Colwell Law Group had not been properly pursuing matters that directly impacted my case. I eventually hired a different law firm, and the difference was night and day. They worked diligently with me, actually went to court, helped resolve my divorce case, and still charged me substantially less than what I paid Colwell Law Group. To make matters worse, I raised my concerns by email about everything that had taken place, and no one made any effort to meaningfully respond or address the situation. Based on my experience, this firm felt far more focused on billing than on actually helping their clients. I would not recommend them.

Goldin was my lawyer for my legal seperation case. I…read morehad to file charges against him with the Committee on Professional Standards due to my signing the legal seperation agreement based on what he told me it meant; when it turned out numerous other lawyers I showed the agreement to afterwards had a different interpretation of it than Goldin did In his written statements to the Committee on Professional Standards, he told some very blatent, very brazen lies, as well as 1 very stupid unneccessary lie. : First a few brief points; then will go to the major issues against him - His billing was reasonable; His office is a total mess, totally disorganized; The picture on the website is old; he doesnot have black hair now, he has white hair now ; He seems to go thru secretaries very quickly, for whatever reason. He had several in the time I knew him. Here's a narrative of my experiences with Goldin : - There was just 1 meeting with the 4 of us (my ex and I and our lawyers); and just a handful of breif conversations between Goldin and the other lawyer, call him S for short. Goldin claimed S almost never returned his calls, etc., but my ex said S told her Goldin told S that I was unwilling to do anything, which was totally false, I was the one pushing every week to get something to happen. So it appears possible one or both of the lawyers was lying on this - Finally in frustration I filed to get the case before a judge - There were 2 brief meetings with the Judge, which I was not allowed to participate in - Goldin told me the Judge said alimoney would be 40% of my gross income (around 75% of my net income) for 5 years, then reviewed after 5 years to determine whether it should be continued or modified or ended. My wife had a disability, which may or may not improve over time, which was the reason for the alimoney - S wrote up the agreement from this direction. I was not comfortable with the wording - Goldin assured me not to worry, saying it was extremely likely alimoney would end in 5 years, given the short length of the marraige (my wife left the marraige after 7 years); and this wording would not hurt me. - Goldin also assured me that if this was brought to trial, his billing would skyrocket, and assured me the judge would order me to pay all of S's billing, as my wife didnot have much money to pay him. Since taking on all that legal billing could have driven me into bankruptcy, given the alimoney amount, and given that the agreement also called for me to take on all debt from the marraige; I agreed to sign this legal seperation agreement. - A few years later, I started interviewing lawyers for someone to represent me at the 5 year review.I showed all the lawyers (around 12) the legal seperation agreement. None of them were as optimistic as Goldin that the wording of the alimoney clause would not hurt me at the 5 year review, some thought it would be interpreted to mean alimoney should continue indefinitely if conditions had not changed - Therefore I filed a complaint with the Committee on Professional Standards. This process basically consists of the Committee taking a nmbr of written statements from me and from Goldin (there isn't really an investigation, they just take statements) - Here are the lies Goldin wrote to the Committee : - Goldin wrote that he met with the Judge 5 times. There were just 2 meetings. - Goldin wrote more than once to the Committee on Professional Ethics that he didnot tell me that alimoney would likely be for about half the length of the marraige; when in reality he told me that over and over again, many times. Thats what he constantly told me. - Goldin wrote that he frequently told me that my case was a good candidate for lifetime maintenance. Thats the exact opposite of the truth, the reality is he consistantly adviced me that alimoney would likely be assigned for just half the length of the marraige (3 to 5 years). This was actually a really stupid unneccessary lie by Goldin. Stupid because all the many lawyers I have talked to (around 15 lawyers) have said that a judge is not going to assign lifetime maintenance from a short term marraige when I still have 20 years left to work and I'm not rich. Its just not going to happen. I've also studied legal precedents for my case, to know this is true. So everyone knows this, yet Goldin for some reason felt he needed to tell this lie ? Its unneccessary cause all he had to write to the Committee is that his interpretation of the wording of the agreement is it would not hurt me. Thats all he had to say, and that is what he told me; saying that would have been more legitimate than the lies he told. So I think with this lie, beyond the lie, anyone considering hiring Goldin should consider how the lack of logical reasoning this lie shows. More details are available for those who want them
