That's not to say I hadn't been to chiropractors before. I likened it to when your fingers develop that strange pain that only resolves by bending them into unnatural positions until they eventually pop. I figured having someone do the same to my back and neck might offer some relief. And it did--albeit temporarily. For some context: I worked a desk job from home for almost 10 years. Yes, I had a standing desk. Yes, I tried all the tricks: standing, sitting on a large exercise ball (that one was dangerous), using an under-desk treadmill, and probably countless other things over the years. In 2020, we started a woodworking business, which meant I became a lot more physically active. Yet, the back issues, hip pain, and increasingly frequent migraines remained. I figured it was just part of aging--the price I paid for not living in the 11th century and dying in my 30s of something modern medicine could now treat with an over-the-counter pill. What finally led me to try Transcend Chiropractic and NUCCA was my wife, Rebecca. She has a way of talking me into things. Long story short(er), she woke up one morning unable to stand or walk. She'd suffered a significant spinal cord injury called Transverse Myelitis. It took weeks of physical therapy, determination (I call it stubbornness), and a lot of work for her to regain mobility. She wrote her own review elsewhere, which you can read, but suffice to say: after beginning sessions with Transcend Chiropractic, her walking, range of movement, and overall healing improved significantly. The results were enough to make me think, "Maybe relief doesn't come from a store. Maybe relief... perhaps... means a little bit more." (Forgive me--it's post-Christmas, and I stole that from The Grinch.) Dr. Conner and Dr. Leigh have been wonderful. They explained how the spine aligns, the role of the atlas vertebra, and how its misalignment can throw off the rest of the spine. Eventually, we settled on a treatment plan involving full decapitation. I've never felt better. (If you're still reading, don't worry--no amputations have been performed, despite my wife's occasional dismay.) In all seriousness, though, the migraines are almost entirely gone. Hip pain only flares up if I fall out of alignment, which happens less and less these days. I've even canceled my "subscribe and save" orders for Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Beyond the physical improvements, what truly sets Dr. Conner and Dr. Leigh apart is their genuine care for their patients. They embody the same principles I try to follow in my own business: treating every client with kindness and respect. * * * * * Five stars--would recommend. PS. I have seen Dr McLaughlin for 8 sessions now. This is longer than most acupuncture treatments…read moreapparently, but I have multiple complex issues, not all of which can be treated at once. I originally came for my wrists and hands (pain and inflammation in joints, a serious, long-standing injury), but we sort of got interrupted by a spike in anxiety and switched to an anxiety treatment. First of all, he's very nice, experienced, scheduling is easy, you don't have to schedule far out and he's by far the most affordable in the area. I noticed modest improvement w my hands/wrists before interrupting it, but it's still very obvious he knows what he's doing. He also seems to expect quick progress, and tells me that if acupuncture doesn't begin helping more noticeably soon then we will try chiropracty. I feel confident he's treating me as quickly as possible and being honest about my disposition. I've done 2 anxiety treatments with FANTASTIC results. My anxiety dropped about 50% the first week. I had another session this morning and feel great today. If acupuncture can help your issue, Dr. McLaughlin will figure out how, and if not, he'll tell you. I highly recommend him to anybody.
