Server was the worst I have had in years. She was incredibly rude to our party of 4. She seemed irritated when first asking for our order, was annoyed as we made room for the plate of appetizers, essentially scolded someone when he kept his fork on his dirty plate she was removing the table, brought out the wrong order (ordered chicken enchilada and she gave us beef), and refused to separate our receipt. Upon asking, she replied "Yes we are able but I don't have the time. I am too busy and I don't remember what you all ordered". Meanwhile there was one other table she was waiting on and we could have happily explained the order, as I mentioned it was only four of us. It would have been helpful so we could get reimbursed for our meals. The ambience of the restaurant is very cute. Food is mid. Service is awful.

    $18 baleadas

Upscale prices with required reservations but mediocre service. Baleadas, a traditional Honduran dish are $18. The flour tortilla was not soft instead it was undercooked and gummy with a rubbery texture. The server was gone for most of the time and we had to ask other servers to get what we needed. The bill was well over $350, way too much for a restaurant that doesn't meet the basic standards for high end fine dining.

Had lunch here yesterday and i thoroughly enjoyed everything. My server was very attentive. They bring out a mango "salsa" to start. It's more reminiscent of sweet chili sauce than salsa but delicious nonetheless. I got the crab and shrimp ceviche which this dish alone will have me coming back and again and again! I also ordered the shrimp tostada lunch special which came with soup or salad. I opted for the soup which was a delicious chicken and vegetable soup. I also had 2 lychee martinis which were probably the best lychee martinis I've ever had. The foodie in me was pleased and I Ieft full as a tick. No room for dessert, maybe next time.

I'm from New Orleans, so I know what food with real flavor tastes like and Maya's is hands down the best Latin cuisine I've ever had. I've traveled to many Latin regions, and nothing compares! The team here takes professionalism to the next level. The food is always prompt, the service is exceptional, and the vibe is consistently on point. The fusion of their dishes and custom-crafted drinks is incredibly flavorful and keeps you coming back for more. I've been dining here since 2015 and finally decided to write this review because they truly deserve bragging rights. We always request Alejandra as our waitress because she's friendly, professional, attentive, and always gives the best service and recommendations. Favorites: * Seafood Tostones - 10/10 * Seafood Stack - 10/10 * Dorado - 10/10 * Fresh Fruit Red Sangria - 10/10

We are ready to have some Brazilian food in New Orleans (creole tomorrow, stay tuned). We tried another place and did not like the vibe at all, so we came here to Mayas spur of the moment. It is super friendly and inviting. The cocktails are anazing and the food is so good. We ordered the Brazilian Moquaceta and it was spectacular. Also ordered crunchy plantains , one of my favorite things, and they did not disappoint. Crunchy deliciousness. The mango salsa is so darn good! I do love spicy food and he does not, so it is always a nice surprise when we find a salsa we both like. I do want to point out that everything served is also so pretty! The drinks, the food, and the appetizers are served with aesthetics in mind. We loved this place! Thank you!

When my friend suggested that we go to Maya's, I admittedly was a little hesitant. In New Orleans, eating Latin American food I mean really how good could it be? But when I tell you, it was more than five stars. It was amazing! We started with this crab shrimp mango tower- Jumbo lump crabmeat, shrimp, spicy mango sauce, mango salsa, sweet and savory soy sauce and piri piri and the beautiful homemade tortillas...I can't even explain it. Oh rich taste of yumminess, with the tortilla that just set it off I mean really amazing. Next step was the spinach empanada. It was lovely filled with spinach, queso fresco, roasted garlic and roasted red pepper. it tasted amazing! And finally my Sopa Azteca, avocado, queso cotija, onions, black beans and corn. Topped with a smoky guajillo and tomato broth...please try it!!! If you're lucky, Jessica will serve you. She was so nice and very knowledgeable of the menu. The decor, the paintings, the colors all so lovely! It's in the Garden District so there's plenty of window shopping around. Can't go wrong with this place!

I had my birthday dinner here 1/3/2025. Love the decor, bright and colorful, true to culture. The offerings are a bit of different Latin cultures (Mexican, Nicaraguan, Venezuelan, etc). Lots of vegetarian options, but not necessarily vegan. We ordered mojitos and caipirinhas in a variety of flavors. If I had to choose, I would say go for the caipirinhas over the mojitos. For appetizers we ordered guacamole, spinach empanadas and calamari. I appreciate that the food didn't take a long time to arrive. My dish was the enchiladas rojas and it was very flavorful and large portion size. The spinach empanadas were incredible. I would go back just for that! We enjoyed our time there.

We went here for my birthday. Everything was perfect. The dining room was not too crowded and the service was great. We started with a chicken quesadilla which was Monterrey, mozzarella and cheddar cheese, sautéed poblano pepper and sweet onions. Topped house pink sauce, queso fresco and pico de gallo. It was so fresh and tasty. For our entrees, my husband had the A CABALLO RIBEYE which was described as "Over sautéed potatoes, onions and tomatoes in a savory sauce topped with fried eggs, jasmine rice and sweet plantains." I had a bite and it was so good. The meat was full of flavor and depth. I had the DORADO which was lightly fried Mahi topped with sautéed shrimp in a Thai-Jamaican yellow or red curry coconut sauce. Served over jasmine rice. I can't wait to go back and i will order this again. For dessert, we had sauteed plantains that were topped with ice cream and 151 rum and then set ablaze. Perfect ending to a perfect meal. The prices were great too.

Oh my gosh! I found this divinely delicious restaurant while attending a conference in NOLA. The drinks were delicious. My friend and I both had Mojitos which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was very tasty and so flavorful. Our server was super sweet and helpful. We had a reservation-recommend if you visit on a weekend. We sat in the front window-perfect for people watching! This was an all around pleasant experience. Definitely worth a visit! I know I will be a repeat customer.

I came to Mayas for Christmas with my family and was greeted with the most wonderful and beautiful decorations which added to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. It's very nice and quaint upstairs. The service was lacking a little but I expected nothing less considering that it was Christmas day but once the food was brought out, I was amazed by the beautiful plating and exquisite taste. I loved Mayas and I think anyone who comes in would too!

After walking up and down Magazine, this is such a great spot to get amazing food! They have a small outside seating area and both booths and tables inside. The decor is so cute, I loved it! We started off with drinks and I highly recommend the Peach Cilantro Margarita. I know, I wasn't sure about it either but it was so sweet, refreshing and tasty! For food, I wanted a mix of savory and sweet and the Bacon Maduros was perfect. I am a BIG bacon and sweet plantain girl so this was all I needed. I was very happy! My friends got the crab and shrimp ceviche and the Quesadilla con Rajas and they all tasted amazing! 10/10!

My husband and I came here for a date night recently and LOVED IT. Inside is so cute with little twinkle lights, service was speedy and personal, and the food and drink were phenomenal, not to mention so affordable! We got a Paloma and spicy watermelon margarita to drink-ingredients were so fresh, quite delicious and so pretty! To eat, we got the seafood tostones (warm yummy hearty plantains topped with a bunch of seafood and a delicious sauce!), ceviche de Mercado (holy moly this was a feast-absolutely stunning presentation and the food was just as delicious and fresh, with some crispy calamari as well; it comes with tortilla chips for dipping so we added an extra side of fried plantains/tostones), and then we tried the beef and the beans+chorizo empanadas (crisped to perfection with a perfect portion of meat, they didn't skimp!) We will most definitely be back very soon, and tell all our friends! This place is awesome!

When visiting New Orleans, we stumbled across The Rum House and got curious. With a name like that,…read moreI figured they had to know rum, so we decided to give it a try. Luckily, we arrived during happy hour. We started with the tuna ceviche, which was half off. At only $8, it was an incredible value. The fish tasted very fresh, clean, and was beautifully presented. My only complaint was that it needed a little more lime and salt to really make the flavors pop. I'd absolutely order it again at happy hour, but at full price I'd hope for a little more seasoning. For drinks, we tried several. The Rum Punch didn't disappoint. It reminded me of a Hurricane but without the heavy grenadine flavor, which I personally prefer. Next was a creamy white rum cocktail with a pineapple garnish (I can't remember the name). It was surprisingly strong, which I loved since rum is usually a softer spirit. It was just a little sweeter than my taste, so I probably wouldn't order it again. The star of the night was the Piña Colada. It was honestly one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't overly sweet, had an incredibly smooth, creamy texture, and was topped with whipped cream and a rum floater that was absolutely perfect. They told me it's double blended, and whatever they're doing works. My only complaint? No maraschino cherry! I'm sorry, but a piña colada just isn't complete without one. One thing to keep in mind is that piña coladas tend to drink more like dessert than a strong cocktail. I had two and barely caught a buzz, but honestly I didn't care because they were that good. We also sampled the White Peach Sangria, and to me it tasted very similar to Moscato. If you're a Moscato fan, you'll probably love it. Overall, I'd definitely come back. Between the happy hour deals, the rum cocktails, and especially that piña colada, The Rum House is absolutely worth a visit. The piña colada would be the first thing I'd order again.

The fried chicken was perfectly juicy and well-seasoned, and the honey butter added a delightful balance of savory and tangy sweetness. I was really looking forward to trying this place but unfortunately the menu was so limited. No jerk boudin balls, no crawfish Etoufee, fried fish, no oxtails, no Mac and cheese, only 1 order of Brussels sprouts. Still decided to try what they had available. We were told that there would be a 45 min wait for Mac and cheese. Waited over an hour and a half on food and still no Mac and cheese. Service to and from the table was extremely slow! Brussels sprouts came out over cooked. Mushrooms were great! Cooked well still had texture and moisture. Delicious. Jerk chicken was okay. Nothing special really with the flavoring, was cooked well though. Plantains were really good and cooked well. Coco curry shrimp was bussin! Great flavoring and this shrimp was fried to perfection. Pretty spicy but that wasn't a problem for me. Best dish I tasted from the establishment. Lamb chops were good. They were small I think for the price honestly. But no complains about them. The service is what would keep me from coming back here. For it not to be packed I felt like they were way too slow. We spent 2 hours just sitting there waiting. As far as the ambiance is concerned it's NOLA don't expect white table cloth dining at a local spot.
