I was at Walgreens in Mineola and their bus was parked outside. They must bring the elderly there to go shopping. As I was walking to my car I noticed the man ( assuming the bus driver ) helping them off of the bus. I had to actually stop and watch. He was so sweet and gentle to each one that he helped off of the bus. He spoke to every single one of them as he helped them down the steps. It warmed my heart so much I actually called and also told them there. In this day and age, all the crap going on and all the terrible people out there, this was honestly wonderful to see. Especially when you hear that a lot of assisted living facilities lack patience with the elderly. Mostly when nobody is looking. And he didn't think anyone was. That made it even nicer. This man looked truly special and they are lucky to have him as apart of their staff.

It was very clean. The facility she moved to in Florida was not as nice, but apparently Florida is generally less patient oriented than NY. My mother-in-law moved into the Bristal late last year after a bad fall had resulted in a long hospitalization and rehab stint at Parker Jewish, a total nightmare. We were not comfortable letting her return to her own apartment and after a reasonable search had selected The Bristal at Garden City, a new facility that had opened only a few months prior. We can only say one thing. This facility is outstanding. Dina, the general manager is a wonderful person and has assembled a team including John, in charge of recreation, and a chef, whose name I don't know, who has made my mother-in-law's stay thus far to be an easy transition into assisted living. She loves the food, and boasts about all of the staff and how friendly and genuinely interested they are in both her needs and her overall enjoyment. Whether it is the medical team, the front office staff, the housekeeping or the maintenance staff, everyone is overly courteous and nice to both the client and their families. Starting from the initial sales with Tiffany, to the gentlemen who connect the cable TV or caulk the windows, everything is handled professionally and expeditiously without a problem. If you have decided to place your loved one in the hands of an assisted living facility, this is definitely the place for you. Bingo, crafts, word games, movies, socials, educational classes, day trips, they offer enough to make their clients feel that they are important, by continuously engaging them in safe and stimulating activities.

The front desk employee was named, Sidi, he made me feel at home instantly. He helped me with my check in process and directed me to the elevator. When I got out of the elevator, I passed other employees, everyone made eye contact, spoke and was willing to assist me with locating my mom's room. This facility was nice, clean and spacious. They have 4 elevators. I observed Staff members interacting with other patients. There is a seating area on unit where you can sit outside of the bedroom but still on unit to visit your loved ones. My mom was admitted on Thursday evening and I saw her on Saturday. Other family members seen her on the previous days. My brother and sister in law meet with the OT and PT on Friday and stated how through their assessments were. They asked a lot of questions to really get to know my mom and her functional abilities prior to admission. When I saw my mom on Sat morning she was nicely groomed, her bed was neatly made and she was positioned comfortably in her bed. Her call bell, remote, cell phone etc... were in reach. The temperature was very comfortable. Her room was huge, very spacious with enough storage space for her clothing and personal items. They also had a nice clean wheelchair with supportive items for her to use. Lots of available pillows for her to use and two nice comfortable chairs for family members to sit. The lunch they served her was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas. It looked and smelled good. The staff also took time to check to see how much my mom ate before taking her tray. My mom's CNA checked on my mom often and let us know she was available if we needed anything. I'm very impressed by everything and look forward to working with them! My mom is short term but will be transitioned to long term care. This might be the hidden gem in Long Island. Also, the admission director was exceptional, she helped to make the admission process quick and easy.

Fracture has doubled in size then was admitted was spent 12 days. Got transferred to Nassau Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. Only option available. Ambulance came within an hour. Both ladies were welcoming, funny and friendly. Got to Nassau Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. No one offered e a wheelchair even though I told then I was exhausted and in pain I came with my own walker and cane. They "helped" with my bags. 100% UNPROFESSIONALISM from when I got there to when I left. I was told I must do a full NAKED STRIP SEARCH to check for "bruises". Also had to do a vaginal STD test. As they took my to my room was a disgusted mess. I called my insurance company and while the phone 1 then 2 now 3 workers in my room. I told them to give me privacy for I was on the phone with my husband. They refused a few times then stood outside the door listening. It was actually the insurance company I was talking to and the agent Teresa heard everything. I left within 30mins. NO ONE helped me with my luggage. I was told I would be there for a week then evaluation for longer stay due to my condition. 11 bags in total. 2 large rolling luggage,1 small rolling luggage, 3 Louis Vuitton Monogram Keepall Bandouliere 55 bags, 1 large bag with large triangle pillow and 4 large purple NYU Langone bags. After a couple of hours on the phone with Teresa at Blue Cross Blue Shield helping find 3 options out of the 25 she called. They had available and looked amazing on Yelp. Few moments later the cops show up at our house. The filthy Nassau Rehabilitation and Nursing Center had actually called the cops to do a wellness check on me. I showed the 2 officers the videos and pics. They both wished me well and a speedy recovery. So I and hubby go back to NYU Langone. Explained what happened to the manager. Told her I had the 3 new facilities. Contact admin names, phone numbers, fax numbers and the all the 7 documents the rehabs needed in order to review my case for admission. This rude manager basically tells me rudely doesn't matter what I have then went on still very rude about I would have to get readmitted which wasn't a guarantee for them to start the process all over again. I was just discharged less than 3 hours ago. after a 12 day stay. We go back and forth and she yells very loudly for security. Then I get loud. I had had enough. 5 security guards literally very close to grabbing and holding me. I said to ALL of the you better not lay a hand on me. I fractured my neck twice in 2 days 12 days ado so back off. I put all of them in their place and took my time walking out safely. Then some say get off hospital property when he sees a cop. I tell him I am going to sit in the bus stop bench and wait for him hubby. I called my Neck & Spine Surgeon's ofc Dr. Sanveej Suratwala. The office was closed so when I woke up the next day at 12:25pm. I felt the worst. Worse than even after the 2 neck fractures within 2 days 12 days ago. So much extreme pain everywhere, nausea, fatigue and dizziness. Had to have been from carrying all my luggage myself. I spoke to NP Vickie at Neck & Spine Surgeon's office Dr. Sanveej Suratwala and off to Syosset ER we went. The women (Jones) assisting me said of course it will start on Tuesday when you move your mother in. The care level we were paying for was high and she wasn't even getting the care she needed. When my family decided to take my mother out of the Bristal they charged us for the extra days when they said they wouldn't. This place is horrible. I wouldn't recommend this place if it was the last place on earth. If it wasn't for some of the residents that were living at the Bristal my mother would not have not eaten properly. The Sunrise of East Meadow became an extended family to us. The care provided to my father was excellent and they also notified me of any changes in his condition, or medication needed. The staff was compassionate and they all seemed happy to help. This was an experience unlike my father's prior assisted living facility, which looked more upscale and provided better entertainment, but the care was really lacking. At Sunrise, everyone was kind and responsive, from the aides to the nursing staff to the Directors. I am so very grateful to them.

He was always treated with the utmost respect and received exceptional care. They treated my mom with respect, love, and good humor. The place is clean, has lovely furnishings and decorations (which my mom always liked!), and a good variety of different places for seniors to visit, sit, and walk. There were always fun events planned for the seniors, including parties, concerts, crafts, movies, Bingo, lectures, and more. I loved receiving a daily email from the facility with information about the menu and events so I could remind mom about fun things to do. As the years progressed, mom had increasingly challenging health issues, but the folks at Brandywine scaled up their support and took such good care of her. I was able to go to work every day knowing that she was in good hands. And I also feel that Brandywine didn't just care for Mom, but they were also so supportive of our family at each stage of my Mom's decline - they were kind, caring, knowledgeable, and served as thoughtful partners in my caregiving. I am especially appreciative of Asif in the Wellness Center, Janet in Customer Care, Lisa (one of the caregivers), Jeremy at the front desk (who put up with my constant phone calls!), Toni in the business office, and everyone else whose names I missed. Each time I drive past Brandywine I miss mom, but I am thankful that she was able to spend her final years of life in the care of such wonderful people. NEGATIVE STARS BEWARE…read more Absolutely no compassion or empathy for anyone who has difficult behaviors. No support for the family, zero guidance. The social worker is extremely unprofessional and had the nerve to talk to me after hours intoxicated and tell me how bad my loved one was. But where else was she going to go. She would get upset with my LO and treat her like a child. Never once did they help me find another placement. They would just send her to the hospital to get a psyc evaluation. I stayed because I was scared and didn't know where else to go etc. I should have moved my LO out after she was beaten up by her roommate when the facility knew they weren't getting along. I felt helpless. I thought this was our life now. They never sent my LO to the hospital for that. I thankfully found a new place that is so nice and respectful and helpful. I would never recommend Amber Court in Westbury.

Anybody can just walk in to the place without having to say where they are going..... they have a face recognition machine, but don't use it. My opinion, is that this particular facility,leaves a lot to be desired. I mean, running out of dinner food??
