It appears that the club will not take responsibility for a large number of members recently defrauded out of their initiation fees (up to $2500 each). Read comments below. As this is not an isolated incident; the apparent authority of a membership services employee* and the clubs subsequent failure to take accountability for the loss of their members is extremely disappointing. Finally the change room was re-opened after almost a year of renovation in which members had to tolerate the inconvience of not having a proper change room after a fire. To my surprise, during this month of July, Mayfair was almost filled with students and swimming lessons through the day and members' right as a member are severely compromised. When I try to book a lane swimming this morning, there was almost nil openings until after 7 p.m. I think this is a serious breach of membership's rights under a contract for services with the club and someone should start a class action to seek a partial refund of the membership fees. I look forward to responses from members that will echo my grievances. read more

I've joined my fair share of gyms. As such, I've learned that commercials to the contrary, merely forking over a few bucks a month won't give you the hard body that you crave. Unfortunately, you actually have to show up, put your little short-shorts on, and work up a sweat. Preferrably, a few times a week. When I decide how a gym should be rated, I think about how likely I am to do just that. Since I judge things by their results, I turn my mind to 'before' and 'during' (I have yet to reach the elusive 'after'). I got into the best shape of my life at Mayfair during the summer between first and second year of law school. After packing on the Freshman Fifteen, seemingly by mid-term, I finished that first year miserable and out of shape. While my colleagues were scrambling for biglaw summer jobs, I decided to take the summer to work on myself. I'm glad I did. I returned to school in the Fall physically and mentally stronger than before. The gym itself is large and airy; comfy without being stiflingly warm or freezing cold. Descending the stairs from the (very clean) change room, you stretch out on the mats provided. Cardio equipment brackets the room. Ellipticals and bikes on one side, treadmills on the other. There's plenty of both, but like most gyms it can be a scrap to see who gets on when, even with a whiteboard list. Bonus for the TVs and in-machine sound systems. Points deducted for the doucher who decides to put the Food Network on while sauntering on the machine beside you. Mayfair provides an impressive array of weight machines, a gravitron (which probably does more to build your pull-up dependant ego than your shoulders and lats) and free weights for everyone. A good workout can be had in an hour, and there's enough stuff to do to ensure that you won't get bored. A range of classes is offered, including Yoga and Pilates. Classes are geared towards busy parents. Hours are less suitable for the late-to-bed, late-to-rise student population, but the environment was relaxed and welcoming even for newbies. The highlight of the gym was the pool. Whether pursuing a cooling post-workout dip or an hour long lap session, it was always sparkling clean and mostly empty except for the occadional Aquafit class. Mayfair is first and foremost a tennis club. I am last and leastmost a tennis player, so I'll just note that the courts seem nicely sprung and well-maintained. A cafe on site caters to healthy and not-so-healthy tastes in equal measure. If there's a downside to Mayfair it's that this site seems prone to flooding. My review is based on the gym before at least one catastrophic flood, so things may have changed. Trainers are very well-informed, responsive to your needs and not at all pushy. Some are really cute. They do tend to turn over quickly, so it's probably best to think of sessions as short-term relationships. read more

Please be aware: Tennis camp at this location means Tennis + Swimming and lots of other non related activities, including waiting in long lines to hit the ball for maximum 20 min ( if at all) in a half a day "tennis" program ( 4 hours). If you are looking for entertainment only, it may work... but please don't fall for the name of their programs. "Tennis camp" should be replaced by "Camp" or "daycare" in my personal opinion. My 5 years old did not enjoy, and was not willing to go back on the second day at all. When I asked for a credit ( I was willing to accept any sort of penalty and deduction), explaining that this is not a right fit for our need, and maybe we could use the credit in different form, my request was declined by several mangers involved. My personal recommendation for those looking for a tennis program is to look elsewhere. For example Mayfair East would be a much much more better option. read more

I've been playing tennis here for 4 years now and I love the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff and pros. I've been a member since 2001 and when I changed my main membership to this location I found my second home. The tennis courts are well kept and the pool is clean. The best part for a single mom is the childcare. There are lots of things for kids to do and the caregivers are nice and creative when working with their charges. read more

I have been a member for about 2 years. You get what you pay for here, yes the montly membership fee is high, but it 's so worth it. The gym is rarerly over crowded. I love the yoga classes. This gym makes me look forward to working out. read more

As a gym, the best gym I have been a member of! Pool: huge Gym and Equipment: Terrific Lots of Tennis Courts Squash available with your Gold membership at no extra cost. Day lockers, monthly lockers, and an 'executive' locker and change room for men. Totally renovated change room, with Steam bath, sauna, and large hot tub Plentiful clean towels in all areas Lots and lots of classes Great trainers Good solid restaurant and bar for both members and non-members Children area while you work out with child care Full physio services Complete Spa and Hair dresser, also Manicures and Pedicures Sporting goods stores, with not unreasonable prices. I did not give it 5 stars because it is prone to flooding. The way the city designed the street it is in a "trough" and currently the pool is being repaired until early February. The membership is around $100.00 for full access including squash and a lot of free classes. This also includes the use of day lockers. A pleasant place to work out, take classes, hang out, or have a nice meal. read more

Been a member of Mayfair for almost 10 years. If you love tennis or squash this is the place to be. Bright clean new courts and plenty of competition. It does cost more than LA or GoodLife if you are just looking for fitness. But you never have to wait for equipment, even at late afternoons. Then locker rooms are really nice with private lockers and plenty of towels. I went to LA once, left my shoes under the bench and they got stollen when I took a shower. I have been a member for about 4 years I think! For me the location is fantastic. so that is a relative to my work/home location. I am also a tennis player and Mayfair is a racquet club. If you are not a tennis or squash player, then there are a lot more options to consider. I have to say that they recently changed management that rented tennis courts to other organizations and getting prime time tennis courts has become somewhat difficult in winter months. However, I still manage to play. Here's what i like about Mayfair "Parkway" - I get to play tennis all year-round. the only sport i really love to play - it is a family club and we really have a family sense among the members - it is easy to meet other tennis player and be engaged into acitivites - they have many fun events through the year including annual dinner, St. Patrick's round robin and dinner, etc. - the staff at the reception desk and the restaurant and the spa - are all amazing. - The Spa is great and well prices and offers a full service from hair cut to pedicure, facial, massage, sports therapy, etc... - the restaurant offers healthy options and the manager, Mike, works really hard to entertain all tastes - They have amazing tennis pros - the courts are nice and air conditioned - their gym is huge - personal trainers great. they give you a program and let you decide your schedule/need - the change room, steam, shower is clean and tidy - towel service included - locker room is huge and never crowded - amazing tennis programs for juniors - maybe i should not advertise so much! read more

Squash courts are almost always available without even having to book. Facilities are well maintained and the changerooms are stocked with plenty of towels, shampoo, body gel, deodorant, everything you could need. Bistro is a bit pricey but super convenient and helps create a social aspect to the club which can't be beat. But i think the biggest plus is that unlike most goodlife or la fitness locations, the main exercise equipment and workout facilities are only lightly used - in my 2 years there i've never seen it at close to half capacity. No waiting for machines and plenty of space and empty machines to your right and left makes it a much more relaxing experience. read more

I attend Mayfair Parkway regularly and visit Mayfair East. The staff have been helpful, courteous, and professional. The yoga instructors, personal training staff team, tennis staff, squash staff, front desk staff, and cleaning staff have all provided a very positive experience for me and other customers. Through their encouragement, friendliness, and instruction, I have been able to progress in my fitness goals and lead a healthier lifestyle. The facilities are clean and are in a fairly good state of repair (there are some minor repairs/replacements required here and there, but one can tell that issues are being attended to in a reasonable time). The equipment and machines are generally available. As a professional in recreation industry, I can tell that this fitness facility cares about providing quality programming and services.
