This is a convenient place to go for quick and easy Indian food. It's a self-serve place. We didn't really interact with anyone for service other than to find a place to sit and when we had to walk up to pay. We even got our own drinks (Coke products) from the fountain. I was thrown off by the saag as it had tomatoes in it. Also the butter paneer was more sauce than anything and had to fish for the paneer. Everything tasted fine though. $20 a person for lunch seems a bit steep though. It's not in my top 5 places, but it's not terrible. Probably won't go back unless there's no other options. read more

I'm a bit spoiled and have my fair share of Indian food all over the world, buffet style or otherwise, and this place didn't meet my (very low) expectations. The selection is lacking and the taste could really be improved. The naan was dry as if it was leftover heated up in a microwave (steaming would have resulted in softer naan). Mayuri is SERIOUSLY IN NEED of an update. I first went to this Indian restaurant back in 2019. We're now in 2022. Since then, I've gone to Tallahassee on several occasions, and somehow, someway, every single time, I wind up there. Take for example this past weekend. The idea was to try a ramen restaurant in town and with only the mention of Mayuri, I asked my companion, "Am I allowed to change my mind as to where to go?" He obviously said yes, and well, Mayuri it was! With the exception of my first visit where I tried the lunch buffet, every time since has been dinner. One time or two, it was take out at home. The rest of the time? Well, we eat at the restaurant as who I believe is the owner is very kind and welcoming. We are serious creatures of habit. We always get the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. I tend to get mine spicy, he gets his medium. We sometimes get vegetable samosas, and now lately as I'm obsessed, we get Gobi Manchurian. More for me, less for him. Not the biggest fan of cauliflower, but he eats it. The chicken tikka masala is so creamy. The sauce-to-chicken ratio is sheer perfection, and the spicier it is, the more fragrant the smell. It makes it easy to differentiate between our orders whenever we go. This is accompanied by heavy amounts of rice, so if you're a rice lover, prepare for carb heaven. The garlic naan is crisp and fresh without overpowering loads of garlic. The vegetable samosas when we've ordered them are massive and stuffed to the brim with a variety of vegetables, including peas and potatoes. The Gobi Manchurian can probably feed one person alone as it has a kick with all its chili sauce. As far as drinks go, they offer Taj Mahal beer in two sizes. Last time we got the big ones as we were celebrating some good news. Honestly, the entire evening was just lovely. I mean, come on now - the portions are generous, the prices are affordable, and did I mention that the place is clean? This is my first time at this restaurant. I went at lunchtime and they had a buffet with so many delicious dishes and the drink is included in the price. I end up eating white rice with Goat Curry with bones, Butter Chicken, Andhra Chicken Curry, Tandoor Chicken, and delicious butter Naans. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very kind and professional. They have an outside space with screens all around if anyone desires to eat in an open space. I'm coming back for sure! When we order Indian food to be delivered, we always order from Mayuri. We've tried the other places in town and find Mayuri to be far more to our liking. This time we decided to eat in. And it was a great dinner. The ambiance isn't that great, as it seems that most of their business is take out. So everyone was seated next to each other in booths. One advantage of eating in is getting their amazing dosas (we don't think they do well when order for delivery). We ordered a Mysore Masala Dosa. While it is huge, the filling is really only in the middle third. The potato filling was quite tasty, but the spicy spread was not spicy at all. We also ordered Gobi Manchurian, a fried cauliflower dish with an addictive sauce. It was delicious. Dinner for me was butter chicken. There was plenty of chicken in the smooth and tasty sauce. I also tried the lamb Lorna which was equally delicious. We enjoyed these with garlic naan and onion kulcha, both hot and flavorful. They are great for delivery and fue eating in. read more

I was craving butter chicken on a lazy Monday, and Mayuri was the only Indian restaurant delivering through Uber Eats so I decided to give it a try. Boy was I disappointed. I hate leaving a bad review, but the butter chicken was probably the worst I've ever had. Very little flavor and there were some weird bites of chicken. I would put the frozen Trader Joe's butter chicken over this - seriously. I took about 5 bites and decided to call it quits. There were also two hairs on my garlic naan :/ I've tried Essence, Zaan, Aaru, and Persis. All are much better places in Tallahassee for Indian food from my experience than here. read more

First of all, thank you for still offering lunch buffet. Unfortunately, a lot of lunch buffet places have been out of business after the paramedic. However, the price has been increasing dramatically over the years, including 15% tip, we paid $24 each. The price of the lunch buffet can't be found anywhere. So we actually don't know if the tip is already included in the price. Food is still good, above average buffet quality. A bit more transparency would be nice. read more

I have had my share of good Indian food. But the food that Uber Eats delivered from Mayuri, last night was terrible. The pepper chicken was so spicy and hot that it was inedible. I would have understood if I had been forewarned that it was hot and spicy, but there was no warning whatsoever. Further, the naan tasted like reheated pancakes and was supposed to be BOGOs, instead, we received one thin pancake. We shared one thin piece of bread that tasted and had the texture of a pancake. Each dish had wonderful flavor, cooked to specified spice level. Dishes ordered mild or spicy, all were flavorful. If you like Indian food, you will like Mayuri's dishes. Serving sizes and pricing are normal, but completely worth the money. Their lunch buffet is the best deal. The service was good. They provided us extra sauce when we asked. I was craving some good Indian food, and this place hit the spot! It is pretty easy to find with a decent size parking lot. I ordered the Sambar soup, Chicken Korma, and Garlic Naan. Sambar soup is a lentil soup. I have never tried this soup before, and it was very good. It is more brothy than thick. There was a good kick to it in the spice department. I would definitely order it again. I ordered the Chicken Korma with medium spice level. It was a little on the bland side so I may order it spicy if I order it again. It was a good dish, just needed a little more spice for my palate. It was a good contrast to the spicy Sambar soup. The garlic naan was good. Covered with a ton of garlic that gave it a good crunch. Nice charred crust which is just the way I like it. The entire menu looked great. My next visit I will either try the Biriyani or lamb curry. I saw the lamb curry at the table next to me and it looked delicious!!! I am a little jealous..... I did see they have a lunch buffet. The steam table looked to be about 4 ft long. This was my first visit to this restaurant, and I am not sure yet if I will return. Though I don't usually do buffets, I wanted to give it a try so that I could get a sample of the various dishes. I am familiar with tandoori chicken and butter chicken, but weren't so sure about a few other choices in that the name of the dishes written above the entree's weren't really readable. Notably, there weren't many food item choices on the buffet. Though I enjoyed the chicken, as well as the various rice dishes and the chickpea curry (I love chickpeas), my food was rather lukewarm by the time I sat down to eat. Also, the naan bread, which I love, was rather rubbery as were the rice crepes - so my meal wasn't really enjoyable overall. On top of everything else, it seems the buffet was about $18 or may have been $20 if the drink was included. I didn't even bother to ask about the price because I was just ready to leave. It would have been nice though to post the buffet cost so customers are aware. I will say that the servers were very nice and I enjoyed the Indian dance videos that were shown on the television. Nice touch, with piping hot dosas brought table side. Loved all the choices, which is more than you'll typically see, especially so with the proteins which even though I'm usually looking for vegan-iffy-ish things was nice to see. This is my #1 restaurant for CTM in Tally. Will repeat again and try different menu items. I went back (repeat offender) and I had: Butter Chicken: 4 stars It was good... I like the curry sauce. Food is as good as ever in the new location! We are so excited about the new location, as now the atmosphere matches with the food. They now have a full bar, a lavish private room complete with chandelier, and the buffet has new additions. In particular, we love that the drink is now included with the buffet and that they serve coffee. The service is faster now that you can get your own soda or tea. They really can keep on top of busing your plate and addressing any customer questions. It is perfect for lunch hour. We are excited for the dinner atmosphere and to have a cocktail. Mayuri continues to succeed! Since it's opening at its for location, we've been steadfast enthusiasts of this downright fantastic presentation of Southern Indian fare. The old location (old-timers will remember it was the Magnolia St. Catfish pad of yore) was nice but clearly off the major surface streets and too small for the business it was getting. Mayuri is the first tenant in this new location - bigger/brighter/and with plenty of parking. For those who care, there are five screens. I suspect they're ideal for the streaming Bollywood features and cricket matches alike! Quality of food and service continues to be high and I'm looking forward to Teddy's continued success! I believe the reason why I didn't receive the correct order was because I was asian and Indians dislike chinese people. I bet they thought I was chinese and gave me the wrong order. It is super important to know that this Indian establishment does NOT serve Basmati rice with their dishes. I only wish I had seen that tiny tidbit in the reviews that I checked out, prior to ordering takeout from Mayuri during my first weekend here in Tallahassee. Unless I happened to order my takeout on one of Mayuri's rare "off and out of ingredients days," my butter chicken entree was confidently accompanied by a heaping portion of Simple. Steamed. White. Rice. Nope, not even Jasmine. Not even flavored with any of the traditional spices. Having patronized several Indian restaurants in Tampa, I guess I took it for granted, but now I know how important this aromatic staple of Indian fare is in complementing the delicious sauce-based entrees that I typically order. The butter chicken was good on its own, but not having the appropriate rice pretty much ruined the dish for me. I also ordered the garlic naan, which was served overly burnt and covered in awkwardly large pieces of garlic. At first, I was super excited about the low cost factor when dining in or ordering take-out at Mayuri, but now I realize the legit downfall in cutting costs to get solid ethnic food. After moving back I finally came back after too long of a wait for Chicken Tikka Masala. For dinner, we eagerly ordered the Tikka Masaa, medium spice level, and Lamb Pepper Fry, hot spice level, fire, and garlic naan. The Tikka Masala, my favorite, was delicious. I was craving the tomato and cream sauce, I've tried to make several times, all to fail miserably with taste, so this was as a great "Welcome back." My fiance kind of sorta liked the "Taj," the beer, they no longer serve the high potent beer/liquor/malt (whatever, lol) he loved. The Lamb Pepper Fry, SPICY, like my fiance wanted and delicious. We always enjoy our food here. For the first time, I tried the Mango Lassi, I originally thought it would have fresh mango juice, but the shake turned out fine. Wouldn't order again, but it was fine. The service, I always enjoyed the server I would always have when I came, so to find him no longer there was a bummer. What is a further bummer is the new wait staff. The waiter we had was pushy, constantly trying to get us to buy things (we did not want) on the menu. The restaurant was busy, but I have seen it busier, I constantly had to FIND water and napkins, failing to be checked on the entire night. By the end of dinner, I was annoyed and so ready to go. I've been to Mayuri a few times and I've absolutely loved it. This is actually the first time I ever tried Indian food too, and I was certainly not disappointed. The location is a bit off the normal path. I'd say most people don't go down Magnolia past Apalachee, so it can be a bit hidden. And because of that I haven't seen them too busy while I've been there. The place itself is fine. It doesn't stand out as being super unique or anything, and it's also a bit small on the inside. However, I think this gives it a very personal feel and makes it quaint. The staff is generally very professional and kind. The first time I came here my friend was short a few dollars and the staff member fronted it for him, which was awesome really. The food is truly the best part. The mixture of spices they use and the aromaticity that each blend provides for its entrée is fantastic. I personally can't handle spicy food very well, so I always get it mild. But even when I order mild, there's a little kick to it still. I personally like this, as it helps retain some of the original intent without overpowering me. It's best to pair it with a thick and creamy mango lassi, which was crazy flavorful. I've had the butter chicken, chicken korma, and chicken tikka marsala. All are excellent and creamy, and paired with delicious butter/garlic Naan you can't go wrong. The dosa and samosas are also very good. Prices are modest. You get a hefty serving of food for around $13 for the main entrée. The additives like Naan are only about $2.50 as well, so it's not bad! They also have a lunch buffet, which would be great for trying everything. Definitely enjoyed coming here, and I will certainly go back! read more
