The food here was exceptional and good. Came out fast and ordering was easy. The reason why I am leaving this review is the manager. It was lunch time, granted it was busy, the general manager was YELLING no matter if it was to her employees, to customers, to herself. It was quiet in the restaurant, and I literally could not keep a conversation with my boyfriend across the table due to the volume of her voice. Not to mention, she was scolding her employees in front of everyone in the restaurant. Every single dish that came out it was "too much sauce" or "toothpicks in the wrong place". I also noticed the way she talked to her employees running food, "this is for table 3 GO" and was not speaking with any mannerisms. Coming from someone who used to work in the restaurant industry, doing that only stresses out your employees during a lunch rush. I enjoy this restaurant regularly so I like the food. Kids that work there are fun. But the national championship football game is on and the manager refused to turn it on. There are currently closing early each night as they try to hire and train new staff, which is good as they are definitely understaffed with some rather inexperienced and attitude prone people. I get it is hard to provide good service when you are understaffed, but the manager who was a tall drink of rather scruffy looking water seemed more interested in his phone than running his restaurant. I give them four stars. Despite this however because as always the food was on point and the cooks are awesome and jamming it out like Aerosmith on their fifth final reunion tour. read more

I came in there this afternoon and ordered what was supposed to be two sweet and savory chicken sandwiches and a kids toasty ham and cheese. One of the chicken sandwiches was supposed to have black olives and cucumbers along with chipotle sauce. The ham and cheese sandwich being a kids toasty was supposed to have ONLY ham and cheese. I paid for it all and left back to Bolivar expecting the order to be made competently. I get here we open it all up and find that the cucumbers were missing on her chicken sandwich as well as the kids toasty being for a 13 year old had a lot more than just the ham and cheese that he wanted which included instead lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. All of which he absolutely hates and thus refused to eat. This in turn forced me to drive a half hour back to there after calling them to have it corrected. I get back and find out now that while her chicken sandwich was correctly made this time his ham and cheese toasty has now somehow become a grilled cheese sandwich with no ham in it whatsoever. You know, it's pretty damn pathetic when even a 13 year old kid, who has yet to work a day of anything in his life knows that you guys have but one job to do and get people's orders correct. I might take this up with corporate too even though they probably won't do much about it. Bottom line, if I could give a negative star review, I'd do that. ABSOLUTELY WON'T RECOMMEND GOING HERE... We were greeted the moment we walked into the door. We both got Smokey Pepper Jack Turkey Sandwiches which were phenomenal as always! The 1/2 and 1/2 tea with a shot of strawberry always hits the spot. There was one other person there at 11am which was nice to beat the rush and we got our food promptly. I have visited this location a lot over the years. It is generally good. However the quality has been lacking lately. The last several visits the tea has tasted off. Today I ordered a gallon of sweet tea. When I got home I discovered it was not drinkable. It was so strong and tasted old like the bottom of the container. VERY VERY disappointed tonight. My sandwich was the jalapeño turkey crunch, it was literally turkey on the jalapeño bread. One of our meals was not in the bag. Ate there last night. Nachos were not warm. It was freezing in the restaurant. My hubby ordered a bag of Cheetos to go with his sandwich. Someone opened the bag of Cheetos and dumped them on his plate?? His order comes with s pickle spear but apparently you have to tell them you want the pickle to get it?? Interesting food, made as blandly tasting as possible. There is so much potential in this concept if the food would only possess some flavor. Order at the counter, grab a number, then be seated while you await visually interesting food to be delivered to you on heavy plastic plates-I'm thinking the plates have more flavor than the food does. The side salads taste as if the staff raided the neighbouring grocery store's pre-packaged deli, and the hot sandwiches seem microwaved to (im)perfection and of a similar lineage. Took a lot longer than expected but they seemed to be putting out good food as quick as they could. Avoid ordering from this location through Uber Eats at all costs! I love McAlister's food and have had it many times from other locations in Springfield but today my co-workers and I ordered from this location to be delivered and it was a complete disaster and not a mistake by Uber Eats. We had a total of 6 food orders and 4 teas, all placed at the same time online. This location gave the driver 1 food order to be delivered. When we called the location to find out what happened the manager was far beyond rude, unhelpful and told us we had to come to the store to get the rest of our order because it wasn't the restaurants problem. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE RIGHT THERE. Long story short Uber Eats was a lot more helpful in getting the situation resolved without the help of the manager at this location. The cashier disappeared, came back and told me that they didn't have any.... It really pains me to have to rate this experience as a 2 instead of the 5 I might normally have given. The food was great, but the surrounding scene was not. I am very critical about restaurants that leave dirty tables sit for long periods of time. To begin with, we came into the restaurant shortly around or after 6:30 pm. The posted closing time was 9:00 pm, yet they had already blocked off almost half the tables, so they had a limited number of tables available for the people who did come in. I counted that there were 16 available tables for people to actually use. I then counted that there were at least 10 tables which had not been cleared, some which had stood dirty for almost 45 minutes. When a staff member finally did come by, all she did was clear the platters that were on the tables. I never saw a wet towel for sanitary wiping of the table. To me, the cleanliness of a restaurant is as important as the quality of the food. Based on the visit, I must say I was very, very disappointed. As I said, the food was good. My wife got her usual BLT on sour dough with chips and a pickle, and I got a bacon spud with extra sour cream. We weren't disappointed by the food. The staff was friendly and seemed to be genuinely mindful of the needs of their customers, like when waiting in line to get refills. The food tasted very good (as usual), and the quality of the food was up to the normal high McAlister's standards. If they were a tad bit more concerned about the cleanliness of the dining area, I would have been much more generous with my rating. I do intend to do a follow-up conversation with either the general manager or the owner of the store, so that someone in charge is made aware of the issue. My wife and I will most definitely give the location another try at a later date, and if we find it to our liking, I'll create a new Yelp post on the restaurant with an upgraded rating, if it's earned. read more

I ordered take out - that won't be happening again. 1 king club, cole slaw - 1 ultimate nachos with extra quacamole and extra chili meat - that's not what I got. I got plain corn chips - a tablespoon total of quacamole - and a half a small container of chili - whoa - in addition, I ordered two salted caramel cookies.......I got two chocolate chip.......hold the phone - the only thing they did was spell my name right. I did complain - and was told it was a corporate decision to deliver the nachos in that fashion - really???? Ok corporate - you fail. My family and I decided to grab lunch here after a morning at the zoo. I've never been a huge fan of mccalisters but the affordable kids menu was hard to pass up. The food was fine. Although, my sons pizza came out cold. There wasn't hardly a clean table in the place. For whatever reason the place was uncomfortably warm. It all added up to a pretty sub par experience.
