About two months ago, I received an unexpected visit from Child Protective Services (CPS) who wanted to see my 2-year-old daughter. After a brief house call during which the caseworker observed our interaction, she assured me that I had nothing to worry about and that I was a good father. Little did I know, this was the beginning of a series of false allegations made by my daughter's mother. A month later, CPS contacted me to inform me they were requesting no visitation, without providing an explanation. I was told to speak with the CPS caseworker. When I finally did, I discovered that my daughter's mother had lied about the timeline of events regarding our daughter's custody. I was also shown a photo of a bruise that I had never seen in person. Two weeks later, the CPS case was closed as unfounded. However, a week after that, my daughter's mother accused me of sexually assaulting our daughter and used photos of diaper rash to obtain an immediate restraining order against me. Dylan Trosper was a terrible attorney with no empathy. He showed up on zoom for the first hearing and barely uttered a word. He promised a motion to dismiss as my child has been taken without justification. Over a month later I fired him and he never handed over the motion. His boss refused to help me. I hired VernMcCray law firm, and it was one of the biggest financial mistakes I have made, and I will be paying for it for the next 3 to 5 years financially. Vern lives out east out past hood river, and is only concerned with becoming a judge and not his clients, pathetic if he asked me. Dylan Trosper was hired by his tiny little mobile home firm and Camas and as lawyers go this guy is a absolute 100% waste of time look at reviews. I'm telling you he's not your advocate. He's a puppet anyway food for thought think about it. I highly recommend you do not hire the Vern McCray law firm for any any Legal matters you'll be better off printing it up online and doing your own paperwork. After having an illigitimate DV and Protection Order placed on me in the middle of the night, I went out looking for a lawyer to represent me. After several tries, and being told to make an appointment, I came upon Vern's law firm in downtown Camas. I was speaking with the secretary, telling her my issue, when Vern popped out of his office and immediately told me he would take care of me. It lifted a huge burden off my back. Where to start... I'll spare you most of the ridiculous details and just summarize by saying DONT use their services. Save yourself a lot of time, heartache and money and go anywhere else. They will drag your case on and on with no concern for you, give you ZERO communication and just sit back and do absolutely nothing while collecting money. I was truly exhausted from just trying to understand what the heck was taking so long and trying to get information from the person that was supposed to be representing me. For me, what could have been solved in a few short months has taken almost 2 years!!! That's two whole years of my life that I've lost. Unbelievable. They have no idea what they are doing. I actually just finalized my divorce today myself and am happy with the outcome... without a lawyer. Thats just 5 short weeks after separating from McCray. Used Mr McCray several times. Polite and seems knowledgeable. Had some difficulties getting calls returned. His front office staff was a little dismissive and terse. For a divorce case Brian took the $2500 retainer which ran out immediately from the other party and her attorney leaving voice mails ($250 per vm) Nothing was done, except a judgement where the other party recives rent paid in full by me even though currtly laid off.. never received any invoices, the secretary apparently put my address in the system wrong 3x. They charged an additional $750 for yet more vm's but other party and when I finally did receive an invoice all the break down of money owed was declared as legal fees. When questioned (several times) what the fees were for the secretary kept saying she could not open her computer. Absolutely nothing was accomplished and the money was basically stolen. Will be reporting to bar association for an investigation. read more

Vernon McCray represented me in a divorce in 2009. I have since realized that my representation was extremely POOR! Mr. McCray did not look out for my interests and I feel very strongly that I did not get the service I PAID for. The dissolution did not include any timeline for my ex to refinance the property that he nows has solely deeded to him, but I have a $270,000 mortgage obligation still on my credit report. One that he has shown many late payments on. The decree also has a bit about how I would not get any retirement if he dies. I found out this was a petty GOTCHA put in by his attorney that my attorney (Mr. McCray) allowed. I was a stay at home mother of 3 boys and didn't get any alimony out of the deal either. This is a BEWARE review to those seeking his legal counsel. If you don't know much about the law, your rights or what you can and cannot get in a divorce proceeding then DO NOT TRUST THIS ATTORNEY to know it either. It is my opinion he only cared about when his check would clear. I have since spoken to other attorneys trying to find a solution to my current situation (One does not exist), but they all share the same opinion of Mr. McCray... he is NOT the brightest bulb in the shed! If only I could have made a better decision in my choice for representation. I will now carry these burdens for years to come. The Vern McCray Law firm is a money hungry blood sucking firm. I was recommended to Mr. McCray by his girlfriend who also is an Attorney. I begin seeing Mr. McCray in September 2013 as my Divorce Attorney. I paid Mr. McCray $3800.00 as my retainer fee. Let me tell you that not even a month later I was being told by his Legal Assistant that I would need to pay another $1500.00 for court filing fees and Assistance fees. This was the first surprise to me since I was told by Mr. McCray and his "Assistants" that the $ 3800.00 would cover everything until we went into court. My first court date was not until November 2013. Mr. McCray arrived and pulled me into a room and said " Okay let's see what's going on?" He had not even been reading up on anything to do with my Divorce, he latterly knew nothing until 20 Minutes before we saw the Judge. Needless to say nothing came out of that court date but Temporary child custody orders. It was not long after Novembers court date that I was sent a bill for another $1500.00. When I called the office to ask what the bill was for, I was treated like an idiot for questioning anything by the women who answered. When I requested Mr. McCray to call me back I never heard anything from him. I did receive an email from him days later saying that the $1500.00 would get us through the trial.... When I questioned Vern as to why my Divorce was going to trial? I was told because my Ex was requesting it. Vern never advised me as to my rights to stop this or my rights to Child Support orders. Whenever I questioned him or his staff my head was bit off or Mr. McCray would threaten to "With Draw" his services and leave me in a mess. So I went into the office and paid another $1500.00 to Mr. McCray and his staff and told them " I have no more money, when this runs out I am done" I even brought my father in with me when I made the payment, we both told Vern we had no more. In February Mr. McCray I and my Ex met with the Judge in a private room and came to an temporary agreement on child support and care. Vern advised me that this would all change in a few months when we went to trial since I was only getting $175.00 a month child support and my Ex-husband was a firefighter making 80,000 a year. I was told by Vern that this was just the beginning and that I would be getting $675-700.00 a month after trial. After the meeting with the judge not even a week later I was sent a bill for $2400.00. This time I called the office and demanded to speak with Vern, I was told he was not available. I received an email minutes later from Mr. McCray telling me that if I did not pay the $2400.00 I would be getting another Email shortly with his "Right to Withdraw". I refused to pay it since I had made it very clear to Wanda and Vern that the $1500.00 I had paid them was all I had left. Not even 1 hour later I got Mr. McCray's " Right to withdraw" and was still expected to pay the $2400.00 bill for services that were never done and I also never got copies of any of the court orders. I kept every email I ever got for this firm because I could not believe the unprofessional way they treated the " Paying" client. I am happy to say that as I write this review I will not only be submitting it to google, but I also will be sending a copy to Washington State law board along with every email and my bill. I hope this helps anyone willing to read and I hope that you do not go to the Vern McCray law firm like I did. read more
