It is located in the old star line headquarters, which was the offices for the Titanic ship! If you are a Titanic fan then I would recommend staying here as it is decorated and themed as the Titanic. We had a lovely suite room which had two double beds, a huge jacuzzi bathroom with a shower over the spa tub and a separate kitchen. It was decorated very lavishly in gold, very luxuriant and opulent in style with velvet and nice furnishings. Each room is named after a passenger of the Titanic ship. The seventh floor dining room has a patio terrace with views of Liverpool. We did not use this as it was shut, being December, but the views are great. This is where you eat your breakfast, which is buffet style and self service and it was very pleasant. Parking is off site, which is about a five minute walk, which with the hotel discount was 11.00 pounds for 24 hours.

They were very helpful and we managed to find our way. After standing for a little while at the "front desk" - not really much of a reception as it's just a small desk in the foyer - we were finally seen to. The lady checked our reservation and dropped the bombshell that the breakfast we had ordered in our room was in fact not something they offered at all! On this occasion (and having paid already) they said they would be able to offer a continental breakfast to our room in the morning. They recommended that we get a refund through the website we booked through to get the extra money back on what we had paid for! This said I was looking forward to seeing our room and the themed hallways added to my excitement! However on opening the door to our allocated room we found there to be a couple already in there! Completely embarrassed and slightly appalled we headed back downstairs with our baggage to the main desk. The lady was very shocked and added that they had no idea who was even meant to be in that room - slightly concerning for us. She called for the manager who was less apologetic but agreed to take up to a new room with a free of charge upgrade. The room was amazing - one of the quarters, which came with a kitchenette area, dining area, 2 LARGE (and I mean large) sofas and 2 queen-sized beds. This was all for 2 people? Slightly over bearing and I little extreme it was decorated with fancy lighting and a huge wardrobe all in the 1950 style. We decided to head up to the large bar area at the top of the hotel, which was meant to continue the theme. On ordering a couple of cocktails 2 of the ones we ordered were unavailable. This was due to their trained bar staff not arriving till slightly later - for a highly rated hotel this wasn't what I would have expected! When our breakfast arrived in the morning - in a small basket it looked cutesy but on further inspection the hotel staff didn't make it but it looked like they had been to the local supermarket to get a range of breads, juice and milk. It wasn't what I expected at all. Luckily, during our one night stay, we didn't have any other mishaps but getting rooms mixed up is a big no-no on my mind. I don't think i'll be returning my custom.

I was lucky enough to be one of a few tables in there so the service was excellent. I am learning that, many bars have you pay at the bar and sit wherever you like. Because my beloved unsweetened iced tea has proved elusive in the UK I chose a Coca-Cola for my beverage. My server asked me if I would like it with "ice and a slice", which made me laugh. It took me a moment to realize she meant a glass of ice and a lemon wedge, which of course I accepted. So I chose my entrée and paid and then sat. The girl who took my order was very pleasant. She brought my food and also checked on me a few times to make sure everything was OK and even offered to change the program on the television since I was the only person in the room. My fish and chips was piping hot and came with an assortment of sauces, including brown sauce, which I had never tried, but that was very good. I tend to read labels, so I was pleased to see that none of the nasty ingredients American food can contain were in it. The fish was cooked to perfection with the crisp of the outside and the tender inside, and the chips were really good. Peas were done perfectly. It came with an ample amount of tartar sauce or at least what I would call it. It was very flavorful. I would definitely recommend this to someone who enjoys a good meal and some live music, which unfortunately I had to miss due to my schedule. It appears they have live music often and the server said it gets busy in the 9pm hour. The cool thing too is that this place is also a hotel so you could stay upstairs as well. I regret I didn't take any additional pictures of the building because it looked historical and had some charm.

We stayed here for 3 nights chosen because of location ,CAMRA listed premises ,good value onsite parking . We stayed on the 5th floor in a standard room, which for two adults both with cases was a little small ,but ok for what we needed. Breakfast was buffet style and had the expected range of food and was OK. We would probably stay here again if visiting Chester it was handy for everything

The mashed potato-like substance they'd splatted onto the plate was covered in a gravy that had congealed to the point where you could peel it off like a chicken skin. The mash itself had the consistency of wet sand, and the sausages looked and tasted cheaper than the 'value' range of any supermarket you care to mention. I took one bite of each and, for the first time in my life, I was unable to eat a meal that had been placed in front of me. It simply didn't deserve to be called food. I have never been to prison, so I don't know what kind of food they get served, but I can't imagine it can be any worse than this, as that would surely be an abuse of basic human rights. I don't really like to leave scathing reviews such as this, but this was so bad that I was compelled to seek out this page, even two years later. This building like many others in this city is stunning and full of character. Dated from 1779 this country house is still lavish, with antique rugs, dark wooden furnishings and stairwell..the floorboards give that satisfying creak when you step on them. Anyway having checked in, the receptionist also takes £50 off your card, whatever you don't spend within the hotel they reimburse you..watch out for that. Each room is stunningly decorated, you can even watch tv while you have a dump :p we left the robes and slippers and walked down with our towels to the spa. The reception here provided us with towels and offered spa treatments ranging from £30 a back massage. We were here for the pool. ChAnging rooms were fabulous and spacious. With lockers, hair dryers and decent showers. Only dispute were old towels left behind..they should place a laundry basket here. Entering the pool was idyllic..the sun was just setting through the large conservatory windows. In the corner offers a Jacuzzi in which you activate by the switch..the pool was of decent size, overlooking the gym and the steam room was sufficient. The dry sauna was under construction though. Getting changed for dinner , we were led to a cosey room where a gent at the bar brought us our wine and a menu over. I believe it was three courses for just over £25. Bargain for Rosette quality food. Amongst the wood pigeon, I had the ricotta cheese bread crumbed balls,and mushroom risotto for main My friend ordered the pate and salmon for mains. A complimentary bruchetta was provided..making me first think the portions were going to be small. However food was spot on in quantity, and what I could taste (with a sinus cold) was divine.
