It was nice to cleanse the palate with the juicy fruit. We ended up coming back the next day so I'll be reviewing a lot of the dishes here. What we got: Maple glazed donut - 5* the perfect fluffy donut. And large to boot! I was honestly disappointed when we finished it. Avocado toast - 5* got a over medium egg on it which was really the cherry on top. It has a good amount of seasoning on it but not overbearing. My first bite was a bit saltier than I would've liked but everything else was perfect so I think it was a fluke. Biscuits and Gravy - 4.5* a tad too much pepper for my liking but other than that this was perfection! Fluffy, buttery biscuit and delicious gravy combos make my heart sing. Loaded Omelet - 4* it was loaded! Hope you like your meat because it's packed. The eggs were surprisingly fluffy though a little overcooked. Fried Potatoes - 5* delicious and complimentary to the meal. Java Breakfast - 3.5* the eggs weren't the best, the sausage was fantastic, and the pancakes were pretty good. They were thin and fluffy. French Toast - 4* the French toast was really good, the black raspberry topping not as much. It was a bit too thick and gelatinous for my taste. The syrup that comes out with the meal is good though. Quiche - 2* my least favourite. I was really excited for this one and had high expectations. Unfortunately it was a thin and chewy quiche and lacked flavor. Fried pie (strawberry rhubarb) - 2* I wasn't a fan. The syrup was too gelatinous and lacked the flavor I'm used to when you have strawberry rhubarb. The inside looked like the syrup you get when you add too much cornstarch to thicken up fruit sauces. It didn't taste like cornstarch though so no worries there. Glazed donut - 3.5* (my partner says 4*) these are half priced if they're a day old. They heat them up for you if you want, which we did. It was alright but still good for being a day old. I'd choose fresh if it was available though.

Cool spot for breakfast or lunch. And I guess coffee…read more I don't drink coffee, but my friend Bod does. I stayed in Bluefield and he lives in Princeton, but he met me here since it was on my way to Cherokee. This leg of the trip was to drop off some cash for Mr. Bob. A lot of it. No, not that kind of money. Clean money. Anyway... The staff here is super friendly, the atmosphere fits the area, and the place has some charm. It looks like the prices for the sandwiches are very fair, but I got a bagel, and the price for one bagel is too high. However, this is more of a sandwich and coffee shop; it's not a bagel store. I definitely recommend The Grind. I'm not really a morning person so I don't know what Bob was talking about half the time, but that's just me. Definitely recommended!

It is next to the Edith Bolling Wilson Birthplace Museum, so stopping here after a visit would be super easy. There were plenty of specialty drinks on the menu, and they trended towards the sugary direction. There were plenty of families enjoying the space, and options for kids and adults. My drink ended up being sugary-sweet and I probably would have asked them to dial it down if I had realized. On the plus side, they were able to get drinks out pretty quickly, in spite of there being quite the crowd. The space was clean and modern. Also, the bathroom was clean and very much appreciated on our road trip. I probably wouldn't sit and enjoy my drink here, due to the high traffic (at least when I visited). For a quick stop in, it's nice. I'll be sure to order better next time. Solid spot!
