a cheeseburger in a cardboard box

Okay so earlier today around 10am I was on my way to an event in Centralia mo and stopped at McDonald's to get something fast for myself and my daughter I got her some hot cakes and an apple juice. Got to the event and no apple juice, okay that sucks but it happens. She's just gonna have to drink water no biggy. Event ends it's around 2pm we stop by again before going home since we are exhausted. I explained how we didn't get a juice earlier that I paid for. They ring me up for 2 juices and a 4 piece nugget kids meal. I get up to the window and explain again about the apple juice since I saw 2 rang up. Got receipt and see that I again paid for 2. Go to food window they give me everything except apple juice so I explain again and they hand me two.. I say you guys still owe me from earlier.. he hands me another woot. So now I have 3 apple juices and I feel silly because of the situation and then not listening. I get home hand my daughter her fries and I go to give her a nugget and my finger dips right into what seems to be mac sauce in her nugget box.. so now with no nuggets, I've got an unhappy baby. I just don't understand. I worked at McDonald's 2 years I get it mistakes happen but not just to forget something once but twice then somehow mix up nuggets for Mac sauce.. I live an hour away. I can't just drive back a third time. Anyway sorry for the long post just needed to rant. 1 Star Centralia McDonald's

The food was typical McDonald's, but good. The place was clean and the service was good. Just a good place to catch a quick breakfast.

We sat and sat and there were only 2 other tables in the whole place. Sat and listened to the waitress tell another table loudly about her new vehicle purchase when I felt after a half an hour maybe she should have checking where our medium rare steaks were. She came by and asked if we were doing okay and my husband and I both asked why it was taking so long and her response was "I guess he didn't see your ticket" she guesses? Finally get our food and they both came with undercooked sweet potatoes and I specifically asked when I was ordering if they have sweet potatoes today. Her reply was yes. So when I got her attention and told her it was hard and undercooked I said if they have regular baked I'd take that instead. Then we were told the morning cook forgot to put them in this am. My reply was "I guess people are forgetting a lot around here today." Got the baked potato w only butter because I asked for my sweet potato w only butter no brown sugar so then her next time by I asked for it. She was then slamming things behind the counter where we were sitting and sighing heavily and at one point caught her apron on something and yelled out. Just not a pleasant experience and I just got in from Iowa today and was super excited to go to the hoof. Not so much anymore.

The decor and vibe are great for the area....it has that ranch, Missouri vibe. The only reason I am only giving 3 stars is that our burger buns were soggy and way too thin for the amazing quality beef patty and the fries were cold and "eh" -- maybe the sweet potato fries would be better? The beef patty was cooked perfectly and so juicy and thick. I'm positive our amazing server would have fixed these issues had we asked but we were tired and just wanted to get back on the road. Good value for the meal and we enjoyed it here.

Besides my family-in-law's cooking this was the highlight of our Missouri culinary experience…read more After a 3 hour flight it was a three hour drive to our destination. About 2 hours in we see signs on highway 54 for "Barnyard Smokehouse". Drooling over the signs and starving my wife start calculating by the time we arrive at our destination it'll be too late to eat with family so we follow the signs. There's no offramp, just hang an instant right off the highway onto the dirt road at the barnyard. Used to clearly marked offramps I missed it and had to take a detour. Luckily in Missouri you can make u-turns on the freeway :-D The entire property is the "Central Missouri Meat & Sausage". There's a deli, market, and restaurant called "Barnyard Smokehouse". Beef and pork is locally raised and butchered on site. Walking in the door we're greeted by warm and friendly people telling us to sit wherever. The restaurant is inside the market/deli to the right. Lots of tables. To start we order some fried pickles. They're sliced thin and battered in cornmeal and served with ranch dressing which is one of the food groups in Missouri. I wish the pickles used were more sour but they tasted really good. For dinner I had their smoked brisket with Texas toast, BBQ beans and Mac-n-Cheese. My wife had the same thing but with "bacon, cheddar, and ranch potato salad" and mac-n-cheese. When it came out I was skeptical since the tri-tip came out in paper thin slices but I shouldn't have judged a pile of meat by its looks since it was fantastic. Beef was saturated with smoky goodness and due to the thin cuts it was super tender. On the table was several made in house BBQ sauces. I really enjoyed their spicy one and my wife liked the sweet one. Side dishes were great too. Due to our odd flight times we only had a tiny sandwich on the airplane so we both devoured everything on our plates. While waiting for our food I walked over to the dessert case and perused. Another standard item in Missouri are refrigerated whip creamed based "pies". We ordered the oreo cookie one. It was gut busting rich. Thick slab of dense vanilla custard topped with crushed oreos and whipped cream. Super rich and decadent. We both felt like we were going to burst after our meals but it was a great start to our vacation. When walking around the market after we saw these giant 6 to 7 foot cured meat sticks made from pork. Since we were going to a potluck in a few days we got 4 of them and at the party cut them up into bite sized pieces. These pork sticks are AMAZING. The BBQ flavor was the favorite followed by the jalapeno. They have them in more reasonable sized pieces too that are vacuum sealed. I bought some for myself and some co-workers. If you find yourself driving on Highway 54 through Fulton, MO do yourself a favor and follow the signs to this great place!!
