I needed a decently quick meal in the area as I was attempting to get from place to place. It was after lunchtime and I honestly just went to the first place I saw. That's how I ended up at this location. Most times I would just go through the drive thru, but I had places to go after this and I wouldn't have time to eat in the car. I went inside and ordered via a kiosk. Instead of finding a seat I just waited for my food to be ready. Even though it was lunchtime the place was not crowded so I had no need to rush to find a seat. When my food was ready I found my way to a table. The service here was kind of quick. It didn't take long for my food to be ready. I don't think I need to speak on the food at all as we all know the quality of it and we all know exactly what we are getting from ordering at a McDonald's. The inside is that typical updated McDonald's design we all have come accustom to. Almost sterile, not at all inviting, but definitely does not put you on edge. The location of this is kind of convenient. It's on the way to nearby hotspots to see. Easy in and out. read more

I came here ordered a triple cheeseburger they gave me a bun with the toppings and no burgers when I went back to ask for my order they claimed I was lying and didn't help me at all. I would like to report the manager for verbally abusing the drive thru employee with Down syndrome. When I received my food he accidentally forgot my drink and I asked the manager and she said I quote "I told him to give you the drink 3 times already" and then he handed me the drink and said "I'm sorry for a delay sir" and he looked sad and disappointed like this happened before. I was visiting Gettysburg and I pulled into this McDonald's parking lot. And then I remembered I was here last year and I went through the drive-through. It was the single worst McDonald's experience I've ever had. The lady who was supposed to hand me my food yelled at me because she said I ordered the food wrong. Ok, it's McDonald's, we're not talking haute cuisine. you know what you're going to get from one store to another. In fact that is the selling point. consistency. you're far from home and you see that familiar sign and it's something familiar. So why does this one get only 2 stars? because of what is singular to a location-service. I know during the mess that is 2020 different places act differently and that is how they are judged. I know you can't have sit down service but most McDonald's I've encountered do let people in to pick up. The heading for this location says 'pick up' but when I was there the doors were firmly locked so either the heading above is wrong or they are inconsistent about opening the doors. Neither is good. The drive through was available but at 10AM on a weekday morning the line was wrapped around the building and did not seem to be moving, none of which was encouraging and should make you question the claim of 'fast food.' I'm sure for years this place has survived on it's closeness to the battlefield but as the world changes and the old visitor center is long gone, it no longer has that protection and it should give serious thought to improving it's game while it still has time. read more

We came here with a group on a tour bus. There are two kiosks for taking orders (4 total screens). Rather than be helpful in taking some orders manually (this would require actually working) the rude and lazy woman working chose to stand over us barking out incorrect instructions on how to place the orders on the kiosk. Would have been more efficient to actually assist in taking orders. She was beyond rude. Would not recommend, probably better to support a local business rather than a chain anyway. read more

This McDonalds is the closest location to the battlefield. When the old Visitors Center and Cyclorama were still in use they were within walking distance, now the overflow parking lot is. Larger location then the York Rd McDonalds. Food was edible and service was reasonably fast considering the crowd. Biggest problem is the modern McDonalds layout and its waste of space due to "modern" seating. If they replaced the footrest seats and the high tops with a few two person tables, more room would exist for customers to sit and eat. Decent location with acceptable food so aside from the seating no major complaints. read more

This has got to be the worst run McDonald's .. once again my husband drove to the restaurant, ordered and paid for two big breakfasts with hot cakes and beverages. Got home and found that he only had ONE Breakfast. I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager, Michael. Couldn't say sorry enough and come back and I'll make one up for you. I told him we were not driving all the way back, just wanted to say that we're tired of NEVER getting our order correct. I've told my husband to check before he leaves, but God love him, he's too trusting. So once again we have only part of what we ordered -- and paid for. Think it's time to stop doing business here. Pulled into the drive-through at 1:30 pm on Friday, November 20, 2020, and for a solid five minutes, the line never budged. Pulled out of line and ate at Friendly's instead. A day later, tried the drive-through at 7 pm Saturday evening. Again, the line plodded along although there was only three or four ahead of me and none behind me. When I pulled up to the speaker I was ignored for a solid two minutes. All I ordered was a millkshake. Paid the less than friendly young African American female. Proceeded to the next window where an African American male, who I guess was a manager by the way he dressed, shoved my drink and straw at me without saying one word. Their competitors at KFC, Friendly's, Taco Bell, and Arby's are more gracious and will receive my business the next time I'm in town. read more

Would give it 0 stars if I could. I waited in a huge line to order my sick boyfriend food to cheer him up. I was exhausted and slightly sick as well so I asked for a MEDIUM iced caramel latte for a slight pick me up. Well the people at the speaker were very rude. I asked for a McGriddle and they said they were no longer serving breakfast. But the car behind me ordered breakfast burritos and they ended up getting them with no issue. I got to the window and said loud and clear "is that a medium" they didn't understand me and just mumbled I don't know. The cup was the smallest cup I'd ever seen from McDonald's. I asked again and the girl behind the one at the window yelled "what is she even talking about?" Are you kidding me. I paid for a medium. I asked a third time a little bit upset, and she said yes in an annoyed way. I go to McDonald's semi frequently and I know this was not a medium. But I could no longer deal with the poor attitudes of these workers. I just wanted a coffee. Not to mention my coffee wasn't mixed at all and everything was sitting at the bottom. We've been there several times and something has been wrong every time. Today we went for Fish Filet sandwiches. Worst service ever! I went through the drive-thru to order dinner and requested two side salads. When I got home, they were not in the bag. I went back and walked in and told them that I didn't get the salads. It took them 15 minutes to make a side salad which consisted of lettuce and two tomatoes. These guys know what they are doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even when they get buses full, they still manage to get the job done with minimum wait time! We have (usually have) two McDonald's and they tore this one down, but hopefully rumor is right and it will be up and running by end of October. I will drive all the way across town to go to this one verse the one on York street which is much closer to me! This McDee's rocks and has nice people, young, old and in between...everybody says thank you and smiles. I even sat with the manager once and told him how much better his place was then the other place and he was so thrilled, he gave me a coupon booklet for my time talking to him and my input! Stopped by to get a Shamrock shake after touring the Gettysburg sites. I ordered a small and the careless and un-attentive cashier charged me for a large. I pointed out that I asked for a small, and the cashier kept saying how the shake was already made and I have to deal with it. FOH! I left the shake on the counter, didn't pay and left. The teens that are working here need to get a attitude makeover and a customer service class. Un-professional! And there were skateboards and bikes all over near the entrances, which is a huge safety hazard, but did the employees care? Of course they didn't! Typical McDs food and service in a completely new building opened in late 2012. This one has drive-thru but does not have a playground like the old one. Latest kitchen tech includes deep fryers that change oil as needed. Over counter video menu boards periodically change listings. TIP: Both Gettysburg McDs have $1 for any size soda or regular style coffee throughout year rather than national limited time promos for such. read more

I have lived in Gettysburg for over 50 years and have had so many bad experiences at this location that it's time for a review. I was house sitting for a friend and drove right past so decided to stop for a grilled chicken ranch salad and a frappe. There was no one in line at the drive thru. I ordered, paid and pulled up to the window for pickup. After several minutes, I was given the frappe. A few minutes later I was told that if I wanted the grilled chicken, it would be a ten minute wait. There still was no one there but I was asked to pull up my car to wait. 10 or more minutes past with maybe 2 or 3 cars going thru. I was considering pulling around and asking if they had forgotten me. Couldn't go in because I had my Cocker Spaniel with me in the car. Finally, a woman came out with my order. I told her that it better be the best salad I had ever eaten and left; my frappe was gone. I got home only to find that I had been given a Southwest Salad. I did get the grilled chicken and ranch dressing. Unfortunately at 79 I don't eat corn or spicy food. I immediately called and got an answering machine. I made several attempt to call and always the answering machine. I decided to post a review on their Face Book site. Corporate contacted me and ask about the problem. I told them and they said that they would contact the local franchise and I would hear from them. I lost count of the times that Corporate contacted me asking if I had been contacted locally; it was at least 6. Always with a apology and assurance that I would be contacted. By this time it had been 2 weeks and I was so done with it. I had decided that I will not go back and while I am sure they will survive without my business, I am one of the locals who sustains their business over the winter months when there are no tourist. Yesterday, a letter from the local owner Emmett Patterson saying he was sorry for my experience; how much they value their customers and that he would follow up with his employees. Now, we know that the only reason the man wrote this letter is because corporate hounded him. I don't think that there is anything that he could have said that would have changed my mind about returning but having spent time working in the restaurant business, to try and get me to come back, he could have offered a free salad(the right one). He offered nothing but an insincere apology. The good news for me is that being in a tourist town, we have many other places to eat including another McDonald's owned by someone else. I do believe that Corporate cares but I also believe they have little control over the local franchise owners. read more

I am not a fan of national franchises, but this may be one of the nicer McDonald's restaurants in the country. Attractive and airy, it is immaculately clean and the service is excellent. Also it is nicely landscaped, which is important since it is so close to the most historic part of the Gettysburg battlefield. read more
