This is a pretty good McDonald's. The staff is quick and kind. I like that they make the food when you order it, not like in the States. That makes it HOT and of good taste and quality when you receive it. It's pretty crowded in here late at night. There's security and cops in there from time to time. It wasn't rowdy. read more

They have consistently undercooked everything deep-fried since we started going there after moving to the area in November 2020. They've even managed to ruin the French fries. The chicken products are frighteningly undercooked... My order yesterday was a 6-McNugget meal with poutine and a small Coke. I had to microwave the nuggets at home just to get them to some level of edibility, the fries & poutine sauce weren't even warm enough to melt the cheese curds, my pop had no ice (NOT ordered that way) and was near piss-warm. Even for a one-off meal experience, this was even than their norm. How McDonald's allows a franchise to represent them this way ian't good business! If my first ever McDonalds food was from the Lord Nelson shop, I'd never eat there again! As it is...we'll never eat from this location again anyway. read more

Um...interesting clientele here. With that aside though, it's just another typical McDonald's, with not a lot of seating but very high traffic (at least for 8:30am). This was the McDonald's that was a 2 minute walk from my hotel. I had the Sausage McMuffin, a hash brown, and a bottle of milk. Everything tasted up to par with no complaints, although the food took a while to come. Washrooms...were not the cleanest. I would not recommend using it unless urgent. read more

Have you ever wondered what a place would look like if you combined a McDonalds with a homeless shelter? If you have, check out the McDonald's on SGR. It's really fun to go there at 7am before yoga to pick up a coffee (which is actually really good). I love starting my weekend watching people come down from MDMA or whatever. I guess all downtown McDonald's are going to be pretty sketch but damn, the manager of this store should try to at least feel a bit safe. Oh yeah, I've tried to get McFlurry's there about 10 times in the past three years and maybe twice they "had" them. I would wager quite a bit that they just don't want to make them. Another disappointing experience at the Spring Garden Road McDonald's: 14 people in line, 18 minutes until I finally got my "fast" food. It's ridiculous that a downtown McDonald's in a city of almost 300,000 only has two cash registers, but what's even more ridiculous is that they only staff one of the two on a long weekend coupon event Saturday afternoon. Why do I keep going there? Because they have the best franchise and the best location. If there was another, properly staffed and managed, McDonald's in downtown Halifax, this one would be out of business in less than a month. read more

Ordered a Bacon and Cheddar Angus, no pickle. They didn't include the cheddar. My son ordered Crispy Chicken with no tomatoes and instead they included extra tomatoes. Fries were also way too salty. Next time I will go elsewhere. read more

I wouldn't have given this location even a 1 star however that was not an option given. The staff here are very rude and lack customer service skills. The wait times are ridiculous even for a cup of coffee. By the time you receive your order it is already getting cold. Have been to this location a few times but the ignorance today was unacceptable and I will not be back. read more

A little bit of a strange layout, but otherwise service was fine and the food was what you expect. I would consider going here again for breakfast as an alternative to say Tim Horton's. Only issue is that the homeless population is kind of high on this street, but I didn't have any issues. read more

This is a very busy, small McDonalds. The location is super convenient right by one of the biggest bus stops around, but that brings with it it's own problems..especially after dark when a sketchy mix of clientele may be present. Just keep your eyes open and hide your valuables! read more

This is hands-down probably the worst place to work at in Halifax. Not only are the people who go here the times I do (late at night, highly intoxicated) but it seems to draw first years more than any place I know. The servers are patient, quick paced, and try to serve everyone as fast as they can as best as they can. People are regularly rude to the employees and they meet the rudeness with the utmost professionalism. This is also where many of the homeless and punk kids go to hang out/use the bathrooms and the bathrooms and place are always extremely clean and well taken care of. I once fell asleep here while drunk and was kindly woken up and told that I have to keep awake or else I will be kicked out. I lasted about ten minutes until I fell asleep again, was (nicely) kicked out, and promptly vomitted outside. The food is similar to any other McDonalds but this place gets five stars for having to put up with the worst Halifax has to offer. read more

I ordered a Bic Mac today and I could see the staff member put it together - tongs for the meat patty, tube dispensers for the condiments but when it came to the lettuce, onions, cheese and pickles it was fingers into each of the bins - no gloves. I thought food places had to use gloves. As usual at lunch time there is always a line up - at least 8 people waiting to order and at least that still waiting for the order to come from the kitchen. read more

Truth be told, I only ever go to McDonalds for the coffee. (Ok... SOMETIMES for chicken nuggets, but usually for coffee). It's right across from my office, and it's the cheapest cup of joe that you're going to find. That being said, at this particular location, I have had to wait 10 and even 15 minutes for one single cup of coffee. Black coffee. Cheap? Yes. Efficient,? Sweet jesus no. Was just here to get a burger, all the food is the same across all mcdonalds for the most part. For such a busy location they should have another register or two. The location is handy, food is cheap and quick, if you dont mind the usual people out front then its just about the same as any other mcdonalds. read more

What a poor McDonalds. The place is rarely if ever clean at any time of day especially the wash rooms which smell like urine, the condiments, napkins and straws are often out and the staff are very disorganized. They take way too many orders than they can handle at once causing chaos for staff and guests alike and it is rare to understand what the cashiers are saying the first time. Recently to make the place even more of a headache they introduced door codes for their washrooms so that you are forced to buy something before you can access the washroom. I like to wash my hands and use the washrooom if needed before I eat. So for those of us travelling alone we have to order , wait for your food to get your receipt to get a code and then either take your stuff in with you or leave it out on your table and hope nobody does something to or steals your food. Diabetics needing to do a blood sugar check or a parent with a child must love this new door washroom policy. NOT! If you want a better burger combo, cleaner place and friendlier staff go elsewhere. A&W is next door at Park Lane and there is a local independant across the road! On the positive side they do have a year round permanant patio out front to people watch and commune with nature ( being dive bombed by pigeons and grackles trying to steal your fries lol ). It is a nice place to sit especially for the non drinking people. I think it is the only non liscenced patio in the downtown ;) read more

It's always packed, minimally staffed, and filthy. One of the regular employees does not ask if you want your meal for there or to go, and will give you everything to go automatically. I was once asked by an employee, who leaned over the counter and muttered to me "hey, could you do me a favour and check and see if I need to refill the ketchup." Items ready for the customer are often left on the counter without being called out, leaving it sitting there while customers needlessly wait. The customer service is the worst I've seen in a fast food restaurant. Avoid. read more

A friend of mine has stopped trying to order burgers from this location. He gets just ketchup on it, but they can never get it right (multiple times wrong after returning it). Despite the "all-day breakfast" ad plastered on the door and displayed on their own menu, when I tried to order a breakfast item, I was told rudely, "...it's lunch..." Went here this morning for a Breakfast Burrito combo. First I waited about 15 minutes as several waves of people around me ordered and were served. I finally went to the counter to ask how much longer it would be, after that it was just about a minute's wait. The first burrito was hot... until I got to the center and it was cold, not room temperature, but fridge temperature. I took it up to the counter to ask for a new one, which they made really quickly and gave to me, took a few bites and had the same issue. Frustrated, I gave up and took them home to microwave. Granted, the place was pretty busy but 15 minutes to reheat something (as I know they do for the burritos, as they are pre-made) is ridiculous, especially when its not even reheated completely. I don't think I've ever left a yelp review before. I'm pretty easy to please and don't complain. I realize McDonald's food is standardized across the board, but in this case it was just oversight of customer needs and poor attention to detail. The only reason why I'm not giving this a one star review is that there is this younger man who works there who is there every time I'm there (sometimes at 4am after a cabaret or today around 9AM) and is the most helpful employee I've ever seen at a fast food place. Today he was mopping up a booth but I'm sure if he had been behind the counter, my issue would have been resolved promptly and properly the first time. I'm not sure what his name is, but he's about 5'5" tall and has brown hair and brown eyes (I think). He's not difficult to miss because he is constantly resolving issues and working hard. Went in with my Mom and my Sister for breakfast. My Mothers AND my sisters sandwiches were made wrong, and my egg round was raw in the middle. I drink decaf coffee due to health issues, they hadn't marked my cup so I verified it was decaf, was told yes. Having been drinking decaf coffee for the last 10 years I've grown accustom to the taste, it was not decaf, had to go switch that as well. Not sure if situations like this are a regular issue or if we caught them on a bad day or what. McDonalds on spring garden really needs to get there stuff together!! read more
