This was not a misunderstanding or momentary confusion. It was a complete failure of training, management, and basic human decency. Under BC law, businesses do not get to decide whether a service dog is "real enough," nor are they permitted to interrogate disabled patrons or impose arbitrary standards. The duty is clear: you accommodate, or you discriminate. What occurred here meets the definition of prima facie discrimination. It is deeply disturbing that in 2025, a paying customer was subjected to this treatment. If this is how disabled patrons are handled, then this location is not safe, not inclusive, and not legally compliant. I will never return, and I strongly caution anyone with a disability or service animal to avoid this location.
