Ongoing Concern About Hiring Practices and Service Quality…read more I'm noticing a troubling and consistent trend across several major fast-food chains, including Tim Hortons, Wendy's, and A&W. At many locations, staffing appears to rely almost entirely on temporary foreign workers, often within tight-knit groups, while service quality and basic training continue to decline. Entry-level roles that traditionally provided local Canadians with first job opportunities now seem increasingly inaccessible. This is not a criticism of individual employees. It is a concern about corporate hiring practices, inadequate training, and the apparent lack of meaningful oversight of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program at the franchise level. When businesses prioritize convenience over proper onboarding, training, and community employment balance, customers feel it -- through slower service, confusion with basic orders, and inconsistent experiences. Because of this ongoing pattern, I've personally chosen to stop supporting these chains. It's disheartening to see iconic Canadian brands drift so far from the standards and values they once had.

I ordered a Dave's Single with cheese and didn't open it up until I got home when I realized that the lettuce and tomato was missing, and the buns were stale. $7 for the worst burger I've ever had. I've always sworn by Wendy's burgers, but now I won't be going there anymore.

I am a disabled woman with a legitimate service dog, clearly identifiable and fully protected under British Columbia human rights law. Instead of being served like any other customer, I was treated with suspicion, stared at, interrogated, and made to feel as though I needed to justify my disability and medical accommodation to staff. That conduct is unlawful. Staff refused service, questioned me in an invasive and humiliating manner, and behaved as though my presence was a problem that needed to be examined or "verified." I was made to feel criminalized simply for existing as a disabled person. There was no professionalism, no apology, and no understanding of the law--only hostility and exclusion. This was not a misunderstanding or momentary confusion. It was a complete failure of training, management, and basic human decency. Under BC law, businesses do not get to decide whether a service dog is "real enough," nor are they permitted to interrogate disabled patrons or impose arbitrary standards. The duty is clear: you accommodate, or you discriminate. What occurred here meets the definition of prima facie discrimination. It is deeply disturbing that in 2025, a paying customer was subjected to this treatment. If this is how disabled patrons are handled, then this location is not safe, not inclusive, and not legally compliant. I will never return, and I strongly caution anyone with a disability or service animal to avoid this location. Corporate leadership should take this complaint seriously, as this conduct exposes the franchise to significant reputational and legal consequences. Do better. Train your staff. Learn the law. Disabled people are not criminals--and our service dogs are not up for debate.

I went here for some coffee fix and dessert back in February. It was my first time visiting Maple…read moreRidge location as I've previously have visited Langley location once. Gratia seemed like a popular cafe on weekends. There were lots of customers when I got there around 1PM. We ordered Matcha Raspberry croissant ($6.75), large drip coffee and latte. Drip coffee tasted bit bitter. I had to wait in line while staff were busy helping customers. Latte was good, but Matcha Raspberry croissant was too sweet. I didn't know the washroom was at the back at the rear side. Because the cafe was very busy, there was no toilet paper when I walked into the washroom. Staff were very nice and helpful, but my personal experience was just okay. I could've got something better than Matcha Raspberry Croissant. Besides all the staff were too busy and had no time to check or clean the washroom.

Super tasty and fresh and the side salad was also notable a nice variety of greens. My shopping partner had great things to say about her bacon & potato (Panini?) Such a variety and NO SUGAR ADDED. Tried a loaf of the rye and a loaf of walnut raisin. Both made excellent sandwiches at home. So fresh!!
