the food is the average McDonald's, but the service is horrible, wait times are ridiculous, and the management is beyond rude

Hubkins Restaurant - Two Meat Two Sides. The sides are big, the other was a full bowl of the best Beef Barley I've had.

The food tasted quite good and the service was quick. This was our second time here. My biggest…read morecomplaint is that we're in the midst of the fourth wave of Covid and the waitress wasn't wearing a mask, and they weren't checking vaccination records for dine in service like they're supposed to otherwise it probably would have been 5 stars.

We were driving through Vermillion (cute town as it turns out!) and needed lunch. I found Hubkins…read moreon Google Maps and thought we should give it a try. This place was perfect - a small-town family friendly restaurant on the main street. Picture white paper table coverings, local rural decorations on the wall, and friendly staff. The focus is their meat: lots of traditional BBQ fare like brisket, pulled pork, etc. They also have a large burger and breakfast menu as well as a few other random items like a Ukrainian plate with perogies, sausage and cabbage rolls. The soup of the day was beef barley and not only did it look like a delicious home made soup, but my friend said it tasted excellent too. The mushroom burger looked awesome with tons of gravy. I most enjoyed all the side dishes. The star was the beans - OMG they were perfect. Also the best mac and cheese I've ever had at a restaurant. It looks unassuming, but trust me - it's super creamy and full of cheesy goodness. Even the onion rings were awesome, which I find most restaurants can't seem to pull off. I'd recommend the pulled pork which is apparently the town favorite.

So in general really good. The restaurant is pleasant enough. Nice patio and a clean but unwarm…read moreplace inside. We ate ouside. Our server was friendly and helpful with the menu but based on that we were one out of three couples there, service was slow. It was super hot outside and it took awhile to get the water glasses filled. Menu was diverse with enough to make most people happy with what they are able to order. We decided on the lamb flatbread. I went with the Salmon while my husband chose the burger . I don't get the idea of sides being extra though. So the burger was 14.50 to order and I think it would have been another 3 bucks for fries. So if my husband saw on the menu , $18.50 with fries he would have chose that. However he saw $14.50 for the burger and then the fries would be extra, he chose not the side. I have no idea why restaurants choose this. Especially for handheld items that typically come with a side. We are not at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. The flat bread was disappointing. The flavours were okay but not stand outstandish, but for 17 bucks we both expected a whole flatbread and not a half of one. My husband liked his burger. I thought my salmon was really good. No complaints on the food. Service and menu pricing could have been better. We also had a few cocktails, which were good. I liked this. But I wouldn't run here.

Always delicious, one of my very favourite places to go out for lunch or dinner or even brunch!…read more The staff, the service the food all wonderful! I love that they use fresh locally grown products. They change the menu seasonally so there's always something new to try, although it makes it hard to choose what to order when everything is so good! The artwork on the walls is lovely and for sale so they are supporting local artists as well! They also sell their own jarred preserves and they are so delicious. Their prices are similar to most other sit down restaurants so considering everything is fresh and locally produced and not wrapped in plastic, frozen, mass produced and microwaved that is quite impressive as well! I always recommended Twisted Fork to anyone new to town, but it's actually worth the trip to St. Paul as well!
