My wife and I enlisted the services of McDougall Landscape to prepare and landscape our property in Schroon Lake. First, I want to state that Dave McDougall is without a doubt the hardest working individual I have ever met. Both he and his employees showed up on time and performed their work in a very professional manner. The initial landscaping included a very strategic drainage plan to keep water flowing away from the foundation. The system he designed works flawlessly. The lawn was done with sod due to the steep slope of the property. The soil was amended and rolled an the sod pinned extensively. Shrubs, plants, and boulders were arranged perfectly. We are constantly approached by strangers walking by that rave at the beauty. Th year after the original landscaping we enlisted Dave to undertake a major hardscape project. Due to the steep slope, Dave constructed 2 stone retaining walls with a matching stone staircase down to the lake. This was a MAJOR PROJECT. A large payer patio with paver walkways lined the lakeside portion of our house. A matching paver driveway and walkway with steps finishes the entryway. This projects has been installed for a number of years now and there is virtually no movement in the pavers or retaining walls. What a great experience from beginning to end. I had a project bigger than what I could afford but when David looked at it he listened to what my needs and general vision was and offered great ideas and solutions. He was easy to work with, showed up when he said he was going to and consulted with me as the project changed. (came up with better ideas) Very knowledgeable about all the perennials and and how to care for them. He cleaned up everything perfectly. I was very dissapointed in the lack of professionalism that my husband and I were shown. We had 2 or 3 meetings with the landscaper and he even brought in a subcontractor for a sprinkler system and told us he would get back to us with our quote/estimate. Mind you we had a big project that would have spanned out to several years of work. Needless to say he never called us back with the quote so 4 weeks later we called him and he basically said I won't have time for you guys this summer. Which is fine but if we never called him he would have never called us back. Not very professional if you ask me. read more
