Took them at least ten min to acknowledge me even tho they were saying hello and greeting other customers, then when they finally did , weren't welcoming at all, so pretty obvious they judge their customers on how they are dressed! Not sure what that bad review is about but I just adore the team at McGough. I can always count on great service and quality. Our wedding rings look amazing one the way in and they glow on the way out. Sam retired and turned things over to his heirs. Knowing what I know about Sam it would not surprise me if his kids learned math by counting diamonds and jewels but now I'm telling tall tales. See prior review for specifics. my boyfriend and I went in to look at sapphire engagement rings, we were priced multiple stones and the one I was most interested was priced very low. we asked the agent -Sarah- multiple times why it was priced so low verified the price of the stone and then decided to think on the stones we saw and come back. we came back up the next weekend and Stephanie provided an over 1400 dollar difference on the stone. We looked at alternate stones and said we would think about it. As we had gone out of our way to come back up and were still interested in making something work, we asked if they could review the difference and follow up with us. They said they would follow up Tuesday and then did not. When I called back up Wednesday afternoon Stephanie stated Sarah never recalled the pricing she gave on the stone and that she did not follow up due to the fact that she was going to try to find a cheaper setting in our price range. I expressed that due to a lack of trust in the company we would not be able to proceed as they were now saying that they never provided the first pricing Sarah gave and did not follow up when they said they would. We were really interested in making something work with that stone or another, but denying a conversation ever happened and then blaming it on our budget rather than the fact that there was poor communication and mis-information provided left a horrible taste in our mouth and made us no longer want to work with this company. read more

I have always loved this store and have bought from them before. I went in there about 2 weeks ago and the service I received was terrible. I was looking to get a new watchband and purchase some 14kt gold earrings. Ended up walking out, talking the watch back and will go to a different jewelry store where I won't be made to feel inferior. read more

I have been to McGough and Co many times throughout the years and have always found the staff to be very personable and knowledgeable. Large inventory on display. Change in management now, the daughter runs the place. Some of the inventory has been 'updated' (their words). It is a just a showcase jewelery store just waiting for you to plunk down your $$ and best serves the rich tourists. What I don't understand is how the daughter has over 37 years of experience as a certified gemologist. She must have been a baby when she was 'certified'! The owner, her father, on a previous exchange delivered terrible customer service and shoddy workmanship, which he claimed was his work (but I'm pretty sure he outsourced it) and I was done with that outfit. Just a block south are much more professional shops that really do their own crafting. read more
