WARNING: I have no idea how Sabrina Winters got all these amazing reviews, but this review is based…read moreon documented facts on our 7 month experience with Sabrina Winters. August 8, 2023, my wife and I met with Sabrina, and paid her $4,500 for a will. December 20, we had heard nothing from Sabrina, so I sent her an email. I said that we had been struggling with exactly what information she needed to complete our will. I provided her with beneficiary and financial information, and requested that we speak more on the phone and by email in the future. The next day I received a response email that she was out of the office for a few days, and had it on her calendar to address when she returned. We never heard from her again. March 18, 2024, I started calling Sabrina over that week, I made dozens of phone calls, resulting in dozens of disconnects and voicemails. I finally was able to speak with Sabrina's paralegal. I was told that Sabrina needed more information to complete my will, but that the paralegal did not know what that information was, only Sabrina did. Unfortunately, Sabrina was not willing to communicate with us so I had no idea when information was needed to complete our will. I told her that if we did not hear back from Sabrina by the end of the day, we would like a full refund. The money was refunded the next day. No apology, no explanation, no will. This experience was a nightmare, I strongly recommend not using Sabrina Winters.

I looked around on Yelp and chose Laura Rivers to assist us with our estate planning needs. After our first meeting with her, my husband made it a point to tell me that I had made a good choice. He couldn't believe we actually met Laura herself & not just someone who works at her office. She personally interacted with us to answer all of our questions while being sensitive to the matters at hand, never rushing us into decisions or pushing us towards any one thing. Her follow up was quick and within a few weeks, our estate planning documents were completed. I have to echo another review I read about her. Laura is definitely an estate planning attorney because she cares about people and is not just about money. Naturally, she is compensated for her expertise & services, as she should be, but we found her price reasonable and her demeanor friendly and professional. She was patient with us even though we had to bring our two small children to the appointments. (We are so new to the area that we had no one to babysit.) I highly recommend Rivers Law to anyone looking for an estate planning attorney in the Charlotte, NC area.

If you're considering filing your taxes with H&R Block, please read this entire review because it…read morecould save you from the nightmare I've been dealing with. I filed my taxes at the beginning of March specifically so I wouldn't be stressed or scrambling near the deadline. Unfortunately, H&R Block, and specifically their tax professional Marc Jacobson, managed to turn what should have been a simple filing into one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. After Marc filed my return, he told me I owed New York State over $1,000. That immediately seemed strange because I was only a part‑time resident from January to April before relocating to North Carolina. Four weeks later, I received a letter from New York State saying that information was missing from my return to confirm my part‑year residency, and that it needed to be corrected by April 27th. I went back to the office on April 6th to have Marc fix the issue. He told me he had "never seen this before" and couldn't understand why I received the letter. When I got home, I reviewed my return myself and discovered the problem instantly. On my New York return, Marc had incorrectly marked me as a full‑year resident for 12 months in 2025. This error is exactly why I was told I owed over $1,000 when in reality, I should have been receiving around $300 back. I returned to the office the same day, but Marc had already left. The receptionist asked another tax professional, Steven Buckley, to help. He reviewed my return and immediately confirmed that a mistake had been made. I left all my documents with him including my W‑2, which somehow had never been scanned into my original return and wasn't even in my MyBlock account. So at this point, H&R Block had every single one of my physical documents. Steven told me it would be a simple fix and that he would take care of it. He said he would work on it the evening of 4/9 and call me when it was done so I could pick up my documents. That call never came. Since then, I have been calling the office almost every day. No one can tell me anything. All I get is, "We'll send him an email." Steven Buckley has never reached back out to me, and as I write this, he still has my original documents. The deadline is approaching, and I have no corrected return, no communication, and no idea where my paperwork is. I paid over $200 for H&R Block to file my taxes, and they are dragging their feet to fix a mistake they made. According to their own website, if they make an error that causes you to owe taxes you shouldn't owe, they are supposed to refund the filing fee. I have not received a refund, an apology, or even basic communication. Corporate was no help either. They open a case, tell you a district manager will contact you, and if they don't within five days, the case closes and you have to start over. It's a loop designed to go nowhere. This entire experience has been unacceptable. I trusted H&R Block with my personal information, my documents, and my tax return and they failed at every step. I will never use them again, and I strongly recommend choosing literally any other tax service. No one should have to chase down their own documents or beg a company to fix their own mistakes.
