I had an appointment on an abnormal day, delays for appointment times and incredibly frustrated feelings trying to juggle all my responsibilities and appointments. The office was friendly and the staff did inform us of delays as they recognized them (they did tell some people immediately at check in). I was blown away by the response of the office to my frustrations. Everyone cares about your experience and when you feel constantly pushed around by medical staff or just another paycheck, this office tries to show you that you matter. I appreciate the time they took to explain the delays and I did not feel like my appointment needed to be rushed at all. The doctor spent plenty of time with me (honestly three times longer than I thought) trying to make sure I was comfortable with the course of action. This would have 5 stars if the new patient paperwork was easier to figure out how to fill out. Once I got it, it was challenging to navigate and I had to call the office to insure they received it. I went through a little back and forth and then it was fine. We arrived 30 min prior to the appointment and was seen right away. We did not have to wait long for Dr. Newton. He was absolutely amazing with my daughter! We had some unexplained issue that we had been to the pediatrician and ER for with no answers, and Dr. Newton got it figured out. I have been here before. I scheduled a pre-check for skin cancer that is covered by my insurance this year. They confirmed my insurance was covered. I don't know what this means because insurance covers this at 100% but they tried to charge me over $2k - which is ridiculous without insurance. My insurance shows doctors at this location are in network. I was told - because they are a specialty office they don't fall under those rules. The staff at this place are rude and have no understanding of what they're doing. I came in for an appointment and the lady at the front had a problem with collecting from me. She charged me an incorrect number at my appointment and then they blamed it on me and charged me even more than the owed amount because of a mistake on their end. When I called to understand what happened they said it's my fault and could not do anything other than give me a 10% discount on a mistake they made. Front desk staff needs a lot of help. Specifically Ms.Gracey at the front desk. Firstly, I enter the waiting room and she yells loudly "HELLO HOW ARE YOU COME IN!" it was unsettling and confusing given the waiting room was full of quiet patients waiting to be called. I arrived at 3:45 for a 4 PM appointment. She informed me that I was supposed to come in at 3:30 for my appointment since I'm a new patient. I told her I wasn't aware of that and asked if I could still be seen. She told me to wait a moment and walked away with no explanation. At this point she hasn't provided me with any check in paperwork and I am standing at the desk waiting for her to come back 5 min later. She returns at 3:51 and informs me she needs to reschedule my appointment because I should've been there at 3:30 to fill out new patient paperwork. She also informs me that she just pulled a RECORDING of the call where I scheduled this appointment 2 days prior and confirmed that I was told of the 3:30 arrival time so I should've known to come in early. I was taken aback. I asked her if I could attempt to fill out the paperwork before my appt time so I could still be seen. She said she I could try but I probably won't finish in time. I finished the paperwork at 3:59. At this point, she left the office for the day and a different staff member took over the desk. This second staff member was very nice and professional. I am mind blown that the first staff member took time to pull a recording to prove that I was provided information that I very innocently misremembered! Instead of providing me with the paperwork and using that time wisely. She is completely unprofessional and made my first experience with this office terrible. I've been going to see Dr. Mcguiness for years. The last couple of times I have visited I can see a drastic difference in Service - Customer Service. I was so rushed through my skin check the last time, I forgot to ask about a place I needed to have diagnosed. So, then I have to make another appointment to view only that one area and pay for another visit. The wait time is unbelievable. I had to wait 45 minutes before the PA finally came in. Wish I didn't have to give a single star. Went to see MD and was seen by PA Elizabeth Carter. Of course my insurance was charged for a specialty MD visit ($80 copay). PA took a scrape tissue sample from my back which cost an additional $100 copay. I was told there would be a Rx for steroidal cream called in to my pharmacy which never happened! Now today I receive an additional bill for a diagnostic from Cockrell Dermatopathology for an additional $159.46 out of pocket expense after my insurance had already paid $214.54! I'll sum it up by saying this contact dermatitis that has yet to be resolved has racked up an out of pocket bill of $339.46 to me personally and over $500 to my insurance.....12 minutes with a PA, no follow up and not even a promised prescription. Although the staff has always been friendly, I am highly disappointed with my laser hair removal experience. I purchased a package of 6 sessions for $1,500 for my legs. Due to appointment cancelations, I ended up getting 8 sessions. I understand that everyone's hair and skin are different. However, I am fair skinned with dark hair. After just 2 months since my last treatment, all of the hair on my legs are growing back in full force. I consulted other offices and was told that this was not normal. I am unsure if it has to do with the machine they use or the person operating the machine. All in all I am highly disappointed with my results. I feel like I was cheated out of $1,500. Office Staff is disorganized and low levels of therapeutic competence amongst clinical staff. McGuiness business model appears to be open a lot of offices and staff with PA's. Very few MD's available and they are not in Prosper. Coordinating care is non-existent. If you need medical treatment, I would seek elsewhere. Plano dermatology is a very clean, and has a very professional environment. I am not one to enjoy a doctors visit, but when I have gone they were able to make me feel very comfortable. Karen Lyons the P.A. for Dr. Mcguiness is really sweet, and very informative. She talks to you and not through you. Like most of my visits to a doctors office they treat you like a number, well, not there. I would recommend anyone with a child or anyone who is skittish about doctor visits to go to Karen Lyons. Also, They have a really amazing procedure called CoolSculpting by Zeltiq. It is a procedure that is FDA approved for fat loss where you are able to lose 20-30% of your fat, and it is thousands of dollars less than Lipo. I was looking for a complete service for skin cancer which is a condition I have. I believe I have found it. Ms. Snipes scraped off my cancer and had it tested. Gave me my results within 10ndays or so. In my case it was determined I had to go through the Mohs process. Been there before a few times. Scheduled an appointment and went in. The doctor I forget his name was a Chicago Bears fan. The attending nurse was a Houston Texan fan. I happen to be a Eagles fan. So we talked football during the entire procedure. I actually saw him a week later when it came for stitches to come out. It went extremely well. He checked it real quick somce I happened to meet the doctor in the hallway. All in all a great experiance and I will be back for screening and a future date for the red light test. They are a cut above some of the other care I have received in the past. read more

At the Plano location, the doctors and PAs here are super nice, sweet, and understanding, but the rest of the staff is kind of rude and unwelcoming. The only reason I come here is because of my PA! She is irreplaceable honestly. I I am currently on accutane which has a lot of emotional side effects and whenever you are in a visit and a PA's assistant is asking you follow-up questions they ask the personal questions in kind of an insincere, almost condescending way and it makes the experience uncomfortable and it makes me not really want to tell the truth about how I am feeling. read more

I saw PA Carter and was really impressed with how knowledgeable she was about my condition. The nurse that was helping with my appointment gave me a coupon for the prescription I was getting which was a real life saver. She also gave me samples of all the otc eczema lotions which was really nice. I felt like they genuinely cared about what I was going through and you can't get that type of service anymore. I am so excited that I had my Miradry procedure done. Miradry gets rid of the sweat glands and the odor glands in the under arm area. I had the Miradry procedure done at McGuinness dermatology in Plano for a permanent fix to hyperhidrosis in the underarm area. Abby Loner and Barbara delivered the treatment from prep, to start, to finish in about 1 hour. I was back at work later that day with some swelling in my armpit area. The swelling went down significantly over the course of the next 2 days and about one week later it was completely back to normal. I am now using a regular deodorant stick just for the good-smell (vs antiperspirant) and haven't seen a single drop in the area. Having done this and now understanding the effectiveness, I would do it again in an instant. It has already changed my psychological well-being knowing I never have to worry about this again. Let's just start by saying this place is amazing, the office staff was very friendly. I was seen by the cosmetics staff, I always wanted to do some lip filler and I have never EVER had any type of injections or fillers or any work done to myself, but I have always wanted to have fuller lips. So I was seen by Linda McMillan in the Plano office, and let me just say it was the best experience ever she was amazing I was super nervous at first but she took time to listen to what I wanted and it was better than I thought. She had a very light hand did not leave any bruising and I was done in no time it was not painful they did do some numbing first, it's been about 6 days and my lips look amazing I will definitely do this again but I will only go to her please if you go here ask for Linda in the Plano office you won't regret it!
