(Fill in the blank: color, thinner, more rested, etc. etc.) It had proven to be one of those things that was not going to happen until the stars aligned. I'm happy to say they did. I met Gary at a local business and he graciously shared some of his work with me. After seeing what a talented photographer he was I made an appointment to come to his studio. When at the last minute my childcare fell through, Mr. Kaplan offered to have them come along (since they're big kids now) and even put a movie on the laptop for them. I've worked with several photographers over the years and I must say his demeanor and warmth went far in putting me at ease. I actually had fun with something as straight forward as a head shot! His anecdotes and musing gave me a glimpse into his broad background in the arts. I think it must be rich life experiences that make ones photography remarkable and memorable, as opposed to simply capturing an image. I'm looking forward to bringing my children to be photographed by Gary as well.
