I wish I could give 0 stars. My mother received horrible, lazy, and even dangerous care tonight. She came in as a fall risk after suffering a significant injury from a fall at work. Never, coming in or out of the hospital, was she offered a wheelchair. In fact, when she was discharged, they watched her walk out with her arm in a sling, on morphine, to drive herself the hour back to her home. She had to beg for an ice pack while she was sitting in her room. No one that saw her offered to try and make her more comfortable by propping her arm up, which needs surgery from her fall and is causing her excruciating pain. When we took her prescription to the pharmacy, we noticed the number of pills to be prescribed wasn't filled out. When my mother called McLaren Macomb, she was told she would have to drive an hour back to the hospital to pick up a new script for the pain medication she needed (due to their error, mind you). And because the hospital, for whatever reason, doesn't use EScribe. Needless to say, the lack of attention to detail, common courtesy and compassion is disappointing and my mother cancelled her upcoming surgery there. If you're someone who cares about your own health, a friend's or a family member's, do not go to this hospital. read more

By far the worst run hospital I have ever seen. ED wait times at every step in the process are terrible. There are several good physicians and staff members that we dealt with. However, the communication, process, and quality of overall care is not worth sending your least favorite pet to. I would suggest finding another hospital in the area. read more

My dad was transferred here Wednesday and admitted to their ICU. The ICU nurse was personable and polite while answering all my questions. The bed in his room was something that should have been retired years ago, it wouldn't stay inflated and he was basically lying on the bed frame. The cardiologist on staff was so so and seemed annoyed when we asked questions and did not want to take them time to actually explain things so that my dad and step mom who have no medical back ground could even understand. He was downgraded to their cardiac unit and I was less than impressed. This is my field of care as an RN and the lack of common courtesy and compassion on this unit was appalling. I watched call lights go off and nurses and aides sat and chatted not even attempting to get up and answer them. No one bothered to change his bed that was covered in dry blood from his procedure. Over 24 hrs and still no answers on test results and they openly admitted no one had even looked at the images yet. It took over 2 days to reconcile his medications before he could get any of his home meds. I cannot believe this is the standard of care even in the most remote location. His nurse today was snarky and rude. My brother came in from Indiana and was only there 30 minutes and was asking what her problem was. I would not recommend this facility to anyone. read more

I recently visited a patient at McClaren Macomb for 6 days. No one is testing temps at the Main Entrance There is a security guard asking if you are sick,and letting everyone in. No Temp checks no sanitizer ~Yes sanitizer throughout hospital but nothing like St.John Main. When you enter the door at St. John's there is a security putting sanitizer on your hands directing you to the Depts. If I go to Dr offices they take temp checks etc... Times are not like they use to be- Covid is real and it's going to get worse as the weeks approach. Concerned!!!!! read more

I can't believe the ridiculousness of calling this building a hospital. The rooms they initially check you out in did not have a bed and there was garbage all over the floor. I was sent up to get tests run only to find a nurse had gone through my purse and removed medication and then I find out I am missing one hundred dollarsCA+. Out of all the nurses there was only one that was conginial and her name was KELLY I. It is 5:00 and I have not eaten or taken any of my daily pill medications. I can barely breathe enough to complete a sentence and I feel like my needs do not matter in the one place where my needs should matter. Jill the nurse who informed me that my purse had been gone through (I must be clear that she did not take the meds but took great joy in telling me they had been taken) has been harsh and unrelatable. I cannot believe the ineptitude that I have been subjected. I was going to discharge AMA. The nice doctor convinced me to just let him discharge me. In the meantime I started vomiting and had a panic attack and was convinced to stay on only to find out the nice Dr. Is not going to take care of me, I MAY not get my daily pills. The only good thing is I never signed a consent to treat form. I am in a lot pain so I am going to try to sleep with no pain medication. Hopefully, this will educate the way some people are treated at this so called hospital. read more

the aide named Kendra needs to get fired. I understand she's new but that doesn't mean she doesn't help her patients. She took my mothers blood pressure wrong and worried my mom about, since she's diabetic she gets worried about that. my mom, the day after her surgery asked for help to go to the bathroom. sure she walked her to the bathroom but when my mom asked help with the wiping part since her stomach was hurting due to her surgery she told her she can do it herself and just gave her toilet paper. put on gloves and your big girl pants and help your patient with wiping, your both girls it's not gross it's simply being helpful and doing your job. after that my mom's surgery started hurting more. my mother called my sister to help her the next time she needed to use the bathroom since Kendra dear can't do her job. Get better and experienced workers instead of disgusted aides that won't bother doing anything. Thank you read more

My parents went in because they were incredibly sick from COVID and the lady at the front desk told them that everyone has COVID and if they wanted to wait 5 1/2 hours to see a doctor they would only be given Tylenol and sent home. Didn't even measure their oxygen levels or check their temperature (or even to see if they actually had COVID) A couple of days later my parents went to Troy Beaumont where they were immediately taken in because their oxygen levels were dangerously low and it turns out my dad has double pneumonia as a side effect from COVID and is only getting worse. Because of this hospitals negligence my dads life is in some serious danger, he's now on a respirator. If you have COVID and have serious symptoms, do not go here please go to a real hospital where they actually want to help you don't make the same mistake my parents did. read more

Mclaren was the worst experience for myself and my 2 month old son. We entered the hospital emergency room around 8 pm on 10/7/18 due to fever. My son was eating and sleeping but as a mom of two, I felt he was warm. Upon checking he had a 101f rectal temp. My first reaction was to take him to the ER at Mclaren since he was born there, I have never went before besides giving birth to my two children. At the Er the first thing they did was come talk to us about a possible UTI, the physician ordered some standard labs,urine, CBC, culture, X-ray. This is where it all went sour. First they collected the urine sample through a catheter because he is two months which is reasonable, but he was so in distress and the nurse did do anything to console or soothe him, that's when X-ray came in and said "thank goodness your done" while crying they took him to X-ray with no empathy for this crying little life. Right after they attempted and when I mean attempted it was a poor mans excuse for the medical or professional staff to even call themselves "medical professionals ". The nurse poked him two times both attempting to put in the iv, while "fishing" . This went on for at least 15 Minutes each arm which seemed a life time for a 2 month old. After the two times they called in a so called "specialist " who also poked him two times with a failed attempt of the iv but did manage a blood sample. The news came back to a bacteria in the "urine". Waiting on the culture to come back, which they would start antibiotics upstairs in the peds unit until the results. So we went upstairs waiting on the blood work . This is when the doctor met us upstairs to tell us that we will be needing a "spinal tap". Of course I argued stating that he didn't even get the results of the blood work. He insisted and once Again I refused. He left and a few minutes later returned and informed us that the blood "clotted" and the sample wasn't any good, but there is bacteria in the urine. He again insisted on the spinal tap to check for Meningitis without the blood work. Might I add at this point that he had no fever since admission, no antibiotics was eating well same as always and his urination was frequent and bowel movements were fine. That's when I refused and asked to be transferred to Beaumont for a second opinion. The doctor was livid and spent countless minutes explaining what a wonderful physician he was And so on and so forth. After waiting for 5 hours out of spite because he said there was a liability to transport my son by myself due to possible Seizure and said signing him out was not allowed at all an cps would get involved. They didn't even check on my son in the total waiting period only 2 so hours went by if they even glanced. When I mentioned it to the nurse she shrugged her shoulders and stated that "the doctor and us escalated the situation on both parts". Soooooo here's the fun stuff and there's more to the story i will edit later since I'm Still At Beaumont writing all this down on little energy and no sleep while my mom tends to the baby. Beaumont stated that the physician at Mclaren "lost" than later said "didn't have enough " sample for urine and didn't even run the culture and the positive bacteria was a dip stick. So they ran all the tests again CBC, strep, urine. Gggguuueeeessss what ???? There is no bacteria in the urine ...none zip Ziltch Oh and did I mention they were trying to force me into signing a waiver to be transported in the ambulance. So it's a liability for me to drive my own child because they don't want anything to happen but at the same time they want me to sign a waiver stating if something happens in transport they aren't liable. I could of taken my son to the hospital there and back 10 Times in that time. Oh and no bacteria what kind of professional messed up, nasty place is this, it's disgusting, Demeaning, degrading and I'm at a loss of words. I hope Mclaren gets their "shit" together read more

I was the December 2,2022 My son drove me to the hospital I check in at the desk in the er I was in some much pain Just like the other reviews They took blood and gave you an iv and put you back in the er waiting room a doctor came after awhile and I went into a room for 2 minutes to show him were the pain was and then back in the waiting no room just this huge waiting room with other waiting too after awhile they took me to get a ct scan of my abdomen and when it was done took back to the waiting room to wait again the doctor did give me a pain shot after hours a doctor came and talked to me in the waiting room in front of other patients this is truly a Hippa violation they we're going to send me home they didn't see anything the he had me do a urine test and found out I had a bad bladder infection they gave me script for an antibiotic and told me to contact my primary doctor I was not the only patient that they talked to in front of other patients I keep thinking this hospital would get better it only seems to get worse who ever is in charge of the er needs to do so much better for the patients that need help Aroom needs to be set up to speak to the patient in private not in a waiting room full of patients I felt like it was a waste going to the er that day and having to wait hours you were not offered any water or check to see how you are doing I had to find a nurse to try and get any answers I even asked for a pain meds it over an hour and I had to ask again read more

I am currently sitting with my VERY SICK wife going on four hours with no end in sight. When my son asked the ladies at the triage area of the emergency room, he keeps getting the same answer, "six people in front of you." Though people are being continuously called, we never seem to get past six people ahead of you. On a bright spot, my wife was bothered with all the noise in the general waiting room and the nice guy running security put her in a much more comfortable meeting room. She can at least rest some. I'm not sure if it is a staffing issue or what, but this is a terrible experience and shows a complete lack of care or concern for the patient who either in cash or insurance pays a premium to be served at this hospital. The administration needs to evaluate these outrageous wait times and work to getting all people seen in a reasonable amount of time. I don't very much they will self reflect on this as it appears to go against their business model. I will be looking for another hospital to go to near my home in the future. When and if I ever get home to sleep, I'm sure I will have dreams of a being in Hell where I am in an eternal McClaren Macomb waiting room with a bunch of undead zombies that have been waiting there before me -- "... Spent four hours in the waiting room (after being told it was a 2 hour wait). Nurse violated some poor woman's HIPPA rights when I went to ask where my husband was in line. I was told he was "right after the vaginal bleeding." The poor woman who's name was called just before his would've been mortified if she'd known we knew why she was there. The staff was rude, and the wait continued for several hours AFTER we made it out of the waiting room. We regret not having just gone straight to DMC or Beaumont. This facility has gone downhill since McLaren took over. Never recommended. read more

Just had my first child here initially staff were great very helpful courteous informative and on top of the care given to my child and fiancé. Then came Pam an semi professional rude idiot who was just the opposite of all the other nurses and techs who had taken care of us. There's always at least one rotten apple in the bunch and she is to the core. When speaking to another nurse only excuses were given for her which is not professional nor acceptable time she went through an people skills training. read more

E.R. Staff and doctor were awesome!!!!!! Doctor even took the time to call me the next day to see how I was feeling. My only complaint is that the place was very outdated and dirty. The waiting room had crumbs all over the floor and old coffee cups and bottles all over the place. When I got into my room the doctors chair seat was all torn and cracked. I almost left but I had stomach flu really bad and had to stay. read more

My mother was transferred here for a brain bleed. She couldn't speak. I was told by the hospital that transferred her there that she would never be able to live by herself again. But at Macomb, I've been staying with her day and night for a week, I haven't run in to a bad nurse yet, a bad doctor, you don't feel like "JUST A NUMBER" here.. she is getting better day-by-day, they have physical therapist come and walk her up and down the Halls every day, and they're seeing to it that when she is done she is transferred to a facility for rehabilitation before she goes home. they also have the best hospital food I've ever had LOL it's not often you find REAL food in the hospital. The hospital was clean, the staff was attentive, empathetic, kind, knowledgeable and we even received a phone call at home afterward to see how he was feeling. Normally I love this hospital. All of my doctors are McLaren doctors and I have had surgeries here, as well as emergency visits before and during Covid. I have always been patient when I have had to wait for rooms and meds. This time, I was admitted at 9pm, there are no rooms available, I was not given breakfast or lunch even though I'm admitted because I'm stuck sitting in the waiting room for 20 hours and counting. I'm not given my daily meds because they have one nurse servicing the entire ER area but somehow other people have received them. People who arrived 12+ hours AFTER me are getting the rooms that I was told I was first in line for. I am here for a resting heart rate of 140 bpm's so it's definitely a higher ranking emergency than the Covid swabs and sinus infections that have since walked in. I was told that I can't have visitors in the waiting room even to bring me food, but if I had a room then I could get visitors to bring me my meds and food. Oh and when I did finally get a breakfast tray after asking four times and receiving it 3 hours after it was served, it was eggs, which is listed as my only food allergy. Had ONE SINGLE PERSON checked in on me in the last 7 hours, I probably wouldn't be leaving this review but not even a nurse has attempted to make sure I'm okay or apologize that there are no rooms or any level of customer service, and when I do ask if they can make sure I'm still on the list for a room, they say "well we don't have a system that gives us enough rooms for our patients now so things change". Worst experience ever. Definitely won't be back. read more

My mom was just in there on 25th..suggested rehab..rehab did nothing after 19days.before hospital she could walk with a walker..came home and couldn't walk.went back to hospital same day(19th).coming home because of insurance reasons.not any better.i guess hospitals only care about money and not the health of their clients.will never go there again.if something happens to my mom I will be suing both them and medilodge of Richmond. read more

The service was good when we finally got help. My wife and I went into the ER with the complaint that she was having pain in her back which she believed was kidney pain. We got there and they told us that they will place her in Fast Track, we waited in the waiting room from 9:30 pm to 12:20 am, I believe this treatment, comes from the opiate crisis that as a country we are all being affected by. We dealt with this ridiculous wait because she stated that she was in great pain and didn't want to go anywhere else. I went back to the window an hour later talked with staff he told me that there were three people ahead of her. Two hours later he told me there were five people ahead of us, I asked how is that possible, when I reminded him what he had told me earlier he looked Unapologetic, and said, "yeah it's still three." You would think having Insurance in this country would get you better treatment. I believe because she claimed back problems they automatically assume that she probably just wanted drugs, I'm sick of this and how people who legitimately need pain medications are being treated like criminals because of the epidemic. But right now the Attorney General is attempting to arrest people for using medical marijuana this country is quickly becoming a third world state. And to add insult to injury the room that they gave us, someone had been eating Mediterranean food with garlic cream. So obviously the room stunk of garlic which made my wife more uncomfortable and nauseous. When a nurse finally came in I asked for garbage bag so I could change the garbage myself. I was not happy with the service from the front desk or of the quality of cleanliness in this Hospital the staff were knowledgeable and the nurse was helpful. Once all the tests were done the doctor quickly read the results gave her steroids we were out of there at 5:30 am. read more

The Er and surgeons will treat you like addicts if your in pain and I'm clearly not an addict I've suffered a great deal after bariatric surgery and no doctor has even tried to figure out my pain other than doing ct scan and suggested talking to my pain doctor about my meds not working but yet treat me like an addict. How bout you just figure out what's wrong with me instead of me taking pain medication problems would then be solved and I'd never step foot back in the er and I wouldn't suffer no more. I was treated in the worst way ever by a surgical resident today it literally broke my heart. I've been suffering for going on three weeks with throwing up, dizzy/fainting, can't eat, abdominal pain, burning pain, blood in stool, with prior ulcer and many more symptoms and can't eat which I know I have a stricture again also might I add passed out yesterday in the hospital in the Hall and was wheeled in to sit for five hours in the waiting room only to be told today we've viewed all your prior test from almost two weeks ago when I was admitted that they see no reason to keep me today even when I'm getting worse those test were two weeks ago not from today so god knows what's changed with blood in my stool. I've been more than patient for almost a year suffering with abdominal pain and still I sit with no answers they think you just want their drugs in which of course when your in pain it helps, but I want answers as well. I'm scared and physically tired. Nobody understands what I'm going through and won't unless it happens to you after two gastric bypass surgeries and for people to get treated the way I have is awful. I just wanted help I'm truly suffering and scared. I'm very disappointed in the surgical team and if something happens to me I hope you can live with the desission of sending me home today just because nothing shows in bloodwork doesn't mean there's nothing wrong. People walk out of hospitals everyday being told their fine and die, but I'm no doctor so I'm stupid. I made the mistake of trusting and being patient with the care I received under the surgical team here, but I do not anymore. I know my body and my body has been telling me somethings wrong and it's only gotten worse. Doctors should listen to patients really listen because you can be making a mistake that can cause someone their life. I only came back to the er after my surgeon dr Carl Pesta had told me to only to be treated like trash. I can only hope to god my ulcer is not bleeding causing me to pass out and be sick and pass blood in my stool. If I could give zero stars I would. Absolutely the worst emergency room experience ever. As I'm writing this, my elderly husband is sitting in an uncomfortable chair in their ER waiting room, has been for 12 hours & will remain there until a bed becomes available for him to be admitted. It's currently the middle of the night. The emergency room does not provide beds for patients so EVERYONE sits in a chair in the waiting room, even after being triaged, getting hooked up to an IV, and receiving other tests. Most of the patients in the waiting room have IV poles, one woman is throwing up into a bag and no one is being monitored in any way shape or form. My husband is a high-risk patient with diabetes & a multitude of other health issues & he's being left to sit in a chair all night & possibly all day tomorrow. His vital signs & blood glucose are not being monitored. He has not received any of his daily medications, including insulin. This is not patient care. And no one, sick or healthy, should have to sleep all night in a chair in a waiting room. No one! In order for him to sleep & rest like a normal human being, if he survives the night, I will have to bring a sleeping bag or air mattress to the hospital so that he can at least lie down. The administrators of this hospital should be ashamed of themselves. Your job is to provide comfort & treatment to sick patients. Even animals get to lie down & rest when they are sick. My husband deserves better. We are beyond disgusted & will never, ever again go to Mclaren hospital for health care & I would advise others to do the same. read more

I have spent more time than I care to admit at this hospital - both now and when it was Mt. Clemens General. They delivered both my children here and I've used the Fast Track Urgent Care tons of times. I can honestly say that during the past 16 years, I have not yet met a doctor or nurse who wasn't incredibly helpful and understanding. Aside from the many ailments and unpleasant reasons for being in the hospital, my time here has always been very surprisingly comfortable. read more

All in all we had a great experience here yesterday. It was our first time using a McLaren facility. My daughter had out-patient foot surgery, everyone from check-in/registration, to the clerk in surgical waiting, to the doctors, nurses and residents were wonderful and could not be kinder or more accommodating. Everyone greeted us as if we were the only family there, and were so helpful along the way until she was discharged in the afternoon. My daughter, who is 23 even remarked that everyone she came in contact with was very good to her. The cherry on top came this morning... she received a call from her nurse checking in to see how she was feeling today. Now that's really special! read more

My fiancé came in with pains. Sat in a fast lane room for nearly 12 hours without anything done. No monitors or anything. Even had a woman come check his blood pressure and temperature and she was all in her persona space and she wasn't wearing a fucking mask. Terrible! You would think in a pandemic, especially with people surrounding us obviously getting testing for a virus that all medical staff would be require to wear a mask. Especially those who directly interacts with the patients. I'm beyond let down by that. Not to mention that he was there overnight to get one test done the next day that they didn't do until 3pm. They didn't give me results until 6:30. So he was there since yesterday at 1pm until today at 6:30pm with one test done. Do y'all get extra money from insurance companies for long visits??? You risked his health by making him stagger around for so long and even more so by not requiring all employees to wear a mask. You guys are not good. I wish I could give you 0 stars. read more

like My son wanted one on one psychiatric care. My family and my 29 year old daughter asked for 24 hour suicidal care. The Social Worker just ignored and pushed papers. Had to write an email why she didn't call me, the mother, when I left several messages for a return call. The Social Worker was lazy and rude. She was snarky and said he was evaluated and released instead of sent to New Baltimore for more evaluation. My son was just released in the cold, weather and said he was ready to just end it on the train tracks. When I finally got the uncaring snotty Social Worker who lacked compassion or care to call me back after much pressure from the hospital, she didn't even care. I looking to sue her and McClaren for incompetence. They sure take your insurance money then turn you out like paid trash. Don't trust your sensitive children with McClaren. The doctors can't evaluate, assess and the Social Worker was so uncaring and couldn't be professional even to return a phone call for more background information and history from a mother and the loved ones family crying: "HELP!!!!" read more

My mother had a procedure today. Appointment was at 745am. She was fasting the whole day before. Until she started complaining at 10am she became irate! Then she saw workers getting onto an elevator without masks. Im appalled that your employees don't have more concern and compassion for patient safety. read more

I had a severe mental breakdown, and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The doctors are great, but the nurses and security were very rude to me and my family. I'm a psych patient. They took away all my stuff and treated me like I was psychotic or that I did something horrible. I asked for food or water multiple times to the nurses and the only one that seemed to listen to me were the doctors. I understood that I was delusional and off my meds, but do not ever treat a psych patient like they're insane. They will just go more insane. I really hope they read this and improve. read more

Avoid at all costs! I was admitted to the hospital and was there for 2 nights/3 days. The doctor released me to go home and sent me home with no medications. 1 day later I went back to the ER and was sent home with a prescription of the same medication I was on in the hospital, except it was a pill form and not the liquid I was on in the hospital. 3 days after I was released I ended up going back to the ER and second time to be admitted a 2nd time now for 8 more days. I should have never been released and or sent home without anything. After questioning the doctor I knew I shouldn't have trusted her. My 2nd hospital stay I didn't return to McLaren... I went to Beaumont instead. The follow up care with McLaren is awful. Their billing is a TOTAL HOT MESS! I can't even tell you how many times I have called and paid my bill in full only to get a collection letter saying I never paid everything. EVEN THOUGH THEIR PHONE REPRESENTATIVES SAY I DID!! Literally 3 years later I'm still dealing with this crap. I'm tired of being lied too. Much later I learned McLaren has TWO DIFFERENT BILLING DEPARTMENTS. No one from McLaren actually told me this. I learned it on my own because I was reading other reviews. They have the McLaren Macomb AND McLaren Medical Group Billings. Two separate things. Two separate bills. Also, as many times as I updated my address with the hospital it never mattered. I never got a bill once in the mail. I pay my bills on time. I only ever got the collection notices, but never the bill. So when I called their offices and was told everything was paid in full... that was lies. read more

Would give zero stars if it was an option, a nightmare dealing with their billing and improper coding and lack of transparency on what they're billing for. A disgrace of a company. Going to Mclaren Macomb was the worst experience of my life. I had acute pancreatitis and they misdiagnosed me with heartburn. Rather than care for me, they pumped me full of morphine and kicked me to the curb like a piece of garbage, not once but twice. I was mistreated and the physicians put their medical licenses on the line and they put my life on the life. They were very deceiptful in treating me, misdiagnosed me, and gave me shoddy care at best. My husband and I purchase our own medical insurance and Mclaren insisted that I pay all of my deductibles and copays. Furthermore, I am a minority and they violated my rights which is a civil infraction. They are very unprofessional and nothing but a glorified prompt care. Wish I could give 0 stars.I had a routine pap at my dr office,lab work was sent to McLaren.It's 100% covered by my blue cross..I received a bill for $104 for the lab part..poop happens & I called McLaren and BC to make sure I was right & give McLaren a chance to rebill..Got another statement from them..Called BC who sent to their supervisor,etc..yup,a covered benefit...BC called McLaren who.....REFUSE TO RECODE my covered benefit.You would think they'd like to get paid.Apparently not.I will die bloody on the sidewalk before I give this crooked outfit 5cents & look forward to fighting over $104 till the day I die.I have to do my job correctly,so should they.Are the doctors as bad as the billers? read more

Waste of time and money. Came here to get an MRI done because my doctor told me if the pain in my back got any worse to seek out a hospital and get one done. So I did as my doctor told me. Well I get in and the staff was friendly and all. But after I get into my room, they ask me a few questions and what not. Well about 20 minutes after the doctor comes into my room and starts talking to me. Well he wants to take a few X-rays instead of an MRI, even though a week before I had a bunch done already by my doctor. The reason they wouldn't do an MRI for me because they wanted me to go to a family doctor to get checked out first before I was able to get one done. I wasted 2 and a half hours and who knows how much money to pretty much get denied want I went there for. I've never heard of any place ever doing that before. I would never ever go back even if they are the last hospital in the area. read more
