This McMenamins is located in a strip mall in downtown west linn. This is one of the smallest McMenamins that I have been to. They have about 12 to 15 tables, but the beer selection is excellent. I tried 1983 lager, and it was nice and smooth. Probably my second favorite McMenamins beer. Our server why efficient and pleasant to interact with. We spent half the time gazing at the clouds painted on the ceiling and the other half enjoying our girl dinners (two salads, side of fries, and drinks). I think that the beauty of McMenamins is that it's not a place where you go to order anything too decadent or fancy--it's a spot you pop in with a pal to catch up and lick your fingers over some greasy, fried side dishes. The fact that I forgot to take pictures of the food proves my point. I was too busy visiting with company and enjoying the pillowy, soft-yet-crunchy fries dipped in the creamy signature ranch dressing...and then gleefully washing it all down with some tangy Muscat cider. We both thought our waitress was fantastic. She was attentive, genuine, and just a sweet lady overall. In the 2 times i've dined here, service has always been very pleasant and friendly, and i've enjoyed my meal. as someone with celiac, I'm grateful that the manager reportedly also has celiac and thus precautions are taken for cross-contamination and dietary restrictions in a way that most places don't. staff has been quite knowledgeable and caring, not only for me but also for my friends and their mom, who have issues with gluten and dairy (but not celiac). GF bun is fine, good enough that I enjoy my meal, but not so good that I start to worry that maybe it's not actually GF (it does start to crumble about halfway in!) Finally someone came by. Super short with me no smile. Seemed either annoyed or having a bad day who knows. Waited 40 minutes for a small fries, Scooby Snacks, and a half salad. The food was just ok. They changed the fries from the good hand cut ones to some gross fries. I paid $20 for a chicken strip basket. It thought I would be good hand dipped strips for the $20 but I got 3 pre frozen chicken strips that you can buy at a deli. The only thing really good there are the overpriced burgers. We had a very attentive and friendly waitress! We ordered a basket of fries, but didn't realize they don't cut their own fries anymore. Major bummer! The Mystic sauce was good. The fries were crispy, warm and ok tasting. But not the same as their old fries. They also took the Roast Beef Dip off their menu a long time ago and we wish that they would bring it back. My husband had the turkey version, but it just isn't the same as the roast beef one. My kiddo had the cod mini tacos off the appetizer menu and really enjoyed them. Small amount of fish per taco, but very well seasoned and tasty. I ordered the seasonal Hogshead crispy chicken sandwich with tots. Chicken was good, but I should have read closer in regard to what spreads were on the sandwich. It was just ok. Tots were of course warm and tasty. I love that they have RC cola on tap! My date knife came by Saturday afternoon about 1:30 and Easley sat ourselves at a booth. Service was quick and friendly. I ordered the barbecue pork sandwich with tots and my date ordered the chicken gyro with fries. We both had a pint of the hoptical double IPA. Fries were excellent which is somewhat unusual for a McMenamins the tots were perfect. The first few bites of my barbecued pork was really good but it did not impress me long-term. The chicken gyro could have tzatziki sauce, and was basically a chicken breast cut up with some condiments and the sauce. Our food came out of the kitchen very quickly and overall it was a good experience we would definitely return. read more

Probably just me but after not going to a restaurant for two years I was not happy with the time it took to get our food or the temperature of the food when it arrived. There is four adults and one child and it took one hour to get us sandwiches a fish taco and a hamburger. The fries were warm and even took 25 minutes to get water and beer. So probably just me and I didn't say anything to the rest of the party but venting my frustration here. I am thankful that they are still open after so many restaurant owners have struggled through the Covid so again I repeat it's probably just me as I am a very picky person and should learn not to be when others are struggling so hard. I would probably find out that they have a hard time keeping good help and cooks available so with that I will stop. Can you try again after being spoiled at Cooperstown and maybe things will change. We go to McMenimins a lot! We love the Aztec salad, but I gotta say West linn wins the award for the least Aztec salad amounts out of any of the other ones we visited. It's like they threw it on a side plate and give you the minimalist ingredients. We've been here many times and it's never gotten better, so I feel the need to say something. It's an expensive side salad at this location and honestly it is really annoying. I wish all would be consistent with portion sizes and quality but West linn is disappointing in both respects. It's a$15 salad with chicken. Give us a little more for the money. Put it in a bowl, make sure the fixings are such that we have everything. At this place it's mainly lettuce. This is my dinner. So to me it's not a side salad! The big salad is usually too big at most places and at most mcmenimans the small salad is a perfect size, not too big and not too small. Just right. So I think this location would be as consistent as the other locations are. The service here has been inconsistent. Sometimes it is great, sometimes not so much. We keep coming back here out of convenience. Also it is always freezing in here!! Turn up the heat a little bit! It says something off they have blankets to hand out to you. That's nice but it should tell you something. Brrrr!!! read more

All McMenamins are not created equal. Not even close. My rule of thumb with their properties is to start with a three rating (since the food and service don't seem to vary much) and then grade up or down for atmosphere. Chances are, if you've heard a rave about McMenamins, people are talking about Kennedy School, Edgefield or one of the other properties where they've converted a historic building and/or have unique amenities (movie theater, golf course, hotel, spa, etc.). If you aren't from the area and stumble into one of their neighborhood pubs, I imagine there must be some disappointment and puzzlement about why someone would recommend you go there. A decade ago, the brew pubs were pretty cool, but they have a lot more competition these days and McMenamins' casual pubs really haven't changed. My family still likes their burgers, fries and beer, and they have a decent happy hour, but that's about it. This location is in a strip mall and the outdoor patio overlooks the freeway entrance. There is really no way I can recommend this place over other local restaurants and it isn't in the same league as many other McMenamins properties. read more

The food is terrible. This fish was by far the worst fish I have had in Oregon. Tried the Scooby Bites. Hot dogs with a nasty coating.. no thanks Tots were fine but forgettable. We have avoided coming here for years because the reviews are so bad. We only went because it was convenient. How do these restaurants stay in business?? Very friendly albeit slow service. The restaurant allotted only one server for the entire patio! She was overwhelmed and we felt very sorry for her. Pretzels and cheese sauce were delicious. We recommend that appetizer! Smoked Mozzarella Macaroni and Cheese had no flavor, and the pasta was overcooked. What a disappointment. Also ordered the potato cheese soup. It was VERY thin in consistency nearly like water. It did have a few shreds of potato skins in it, but overall we do not recommend either of those menu items. Other members of our party ordered burgers and one had a Reuben sandwich. Those were given "good" reviews. The beer that was ordered got good reviews. We've been a few times - a majority of the time was for happy hour. We really enjoyed happy hour. They have some good specials - like pretzels with or without a side of cheese, grilled cheese, tater tots, fries, and salads - all at good prices - like really good prices and favorable portions. We went for dinner one time, and we ordered one of their specials - the Nacho Libre Fries (or something like that), and they were great! I mean, you can't really go wrong with awesome toppings on fries, right? Right! The service varied. It was either good or mediocre; there were no exceptional experiences in the four or five times we have visited this establishment, but we haven't had bad service... so, not really any complaints. I've always been a loyal guest of Mcminamins and I just have to say, the last few times have been disappointing. This last time might be the last time. At least for a long time. We had a take home order over $120 and three minutes down the street. The food was below average and well above in price for what it was worth. I wish we didn't spend $1 but what's done is done. The chicken strips, fries, tots on all orders were old and over cooked. We had to call and go back for fresh orders of chicken strips. They were inedible and, no joke $40 in just chicken strips. We had to get what we at the very least deserved. We were told we may not get much better than what we got but she will try. I will say they were night and day better the second round. The order taker was polite and did remake our chicken strips and sides. The portioning on the sides were so small compared to how they have been in the past but she explained how they are a strict 8 ounces and weighed out. Needless to say we had to go out of our way for an additional 30 minutes to an hour where the rest of the family was done eating by the time we got home but not a big deal. The big deal here is the fact that the quality has drastically gone down while the prices have gone with the inflation we are all living in but way up. Not to mention there's no compassion on trying to make a bad experience a positive one in the end. It felt like our time was at no value to anyone in the restaurant. There was nothing that makes me want to ever go back. Super sad because I grew up with Mcminamins and have always been so loyal. I moved to AZ and this used to be one of the places I must go to every time I come into town which is several times every year. So this is a McMenamins like most every other McMenamins. Same selection of beers, typical menu (although a bit more limited than some of their larger establishments) and is located conveniently off the 205 freeway in a shopping mall next to Five Guys Burgers. I've always had excellent service here and the beer is up to snuff. No complaints, but nothing really makes it stand out from anywhere else. A lot of the McMenamins allure is their reuse of old buildings and locations, but this location is a bit confusing. In fact, it confused me until I got a chance to speak with the owner. The McMenamins Pub here is a stand alone building, and was in place before the strip mall encroached around it. So when you walk in, it's not like a storefront, it has the usual McMenamins wood booths, dark, English pub-like atmosphere, and all that stuff. Unfortunately, with where it's at, it's hard to tell that the place has a character of its own. The food is average, though, and nothing to really write home about, but that's about par for all the McMenamins I ever frequent. My usual reason for going to McMenamins is for the beer, which is always very good. read more

Came here with my dog for happy hour. Considering the passport has a stamp "have a pint with your pup". I wanted to get my stamp. I walked inside (left my dog outside) spoke to the host and asked if I could sit outside with my dog...they have a very nice outdoor seating area. She said I could, but I was only allowed to sit at one of two tables in the very front of the restaurant, completely on the other side of the building away from the nice outdoor seating area. This "dog" area was in the blaring sun. There was one broken umbrella, that i had to put up myself. The umbrella would not stand straight up, and my dog had to stay on burning hot cement, since there had been no shade. I felt really bad for him. I then sat at the table for over 10 minutes, with no greet from anyone, even though the servers knew I was there (I had just spoken to them about the dog). They walked by the window many times, and never acknowledged us, nothing. I waited and waited, until I decided to leave. I won't be coming back. SO SLOW. We sat down at 12pm. We did not leave until almost 2:30pm because it took over 1.5 hours to get our food. When it finally came out it was luke warm. At no time did anyone on staff apologize for the wait - it was as if waiting over an hour for food it the normal there. After looking at the reviews I think that might be the case. We could have eaten hot, quick and better tasting burger and fries across the parking lot at 5 guys and saved half our afternoon and a $50 tab. read more
