On a road trip across the country and found Meadowlark Brewing during our stop in Billings. When we arrived in the early evening, the place was fairly quiet but did pick up by the time we left. Plenty of seating both at tables, bar seats and upstairs had tables as well. We were helped fairly quickly as well, and our waiter was very friendly. Others in my group tried a few different beers, which they said were good. I had the slushee, which I believe was a wine slushy but didn't actually get what it is. It was delicious-- not too sweet. We also got the charcuterie pretzel which was a perfect snack for our group of four! During happy hour, it was $12. Happy hour is 4pm-6pm Monday-Friday, I believe $4 beers and three appetizers at various prices. There's also a full menu if you're looking to have a meal! If you're looking for a broad selection of beer, come here. If you're looking for a quiet, quaint, mellow place to drink beer, do NOT come here. If you have children and want them to play in the playroom (and behind the bar, in the kitchen , etc), come here. My first impression was that it was a loud, modern building with lots of families and TVs. And at first i wasn't holding my breath for good service: I came in and saw the "wait to be seated" sign, with zero hosts around, but with customers crammed in there waiting. I went to the bar and sat down, which seemed fine. Once the barmaid started serving me (Tyler i think), things got better. I got a flight of beer and Tyler kept having me try other ones as well. One of my favorite Billings breweries that I paid a visit to! Meadowlark started off as a hit right away as I spotted that they had a mushroom beer, the Fungus Shui which was a Mushroom Ale. I have had ales and beers before at breweries but spotting this beer type is extremely rare to find. So with no hesitation that was my beer of choice and it was fantastic with a well balanced mushroom and honey flavors. I also purchased a more common beer type, the Harvester which was a Cream Ale and it was phenomenal as well! Flavors in this beer were creamy, malty and clean. The beer went down nice and smooth and was light bodied. Truly a well made Cream Ale! I got some food but nothing too involved, just a basic garden salad as I was getting snacks at the breweries I was going to in town. It was extremely fresh and very enjoyable to eat along with some great balsamic dressing. I really like the space here as it's wide and open here with a sleek look inside. Definitely a good brewery experience and one I'd easily go back to as it's become a favorite for me while in Billings. read more

FANTASTIC food, ambiance, and service. This is our favorite restaurant in Billings. We recently took some friends who were visiting on a multi-state roadtrip to eat here and they said it was hands-down their favorite place they've eaten at on the trip. It's one of ours too. I love that, although it's a brewery, it's a very family-friendly environment. We don't actually drink, so I appreciate that Meadowlark doesn't slack on the quality of its food. read more

Beer is decent. Told the food is good but we did not try today. We will likely return but there is competition out there. Meadowlark Brewing is a good location, a nice building with great outdoor seating. The wow kind of stops there, though. Perhaps because they are still going through the opening phase, it's just chaotic inside. Not controlled chaos, though, just chaos. I've only been here a couple of times, once when they first opened, and then again a few weeks later. The crazy crowds have eased somewhat, but that doesn't seem to have made the flow any better. There are some good beer selections, and food choices, but getting the drinks, food, or even the check when you're ready to leave is a very slow process. The employees are all very nice, but there's always a different person refilling the drinks, bringing the food and bringing the check. It's a long wait between those. On the food -- the brussels salad is really good and difficult to finish at one sitting. Bring the leftovers home, because it's still just as good the next time. The lemon herb vinaigrette is the perfect complement. I haven't tried any of the other menu options because they all look ordinary. Meadowlark is a nice place to meet friends, enjoy the outdoor seating, and be away from the heavier traffic areas. read more

This is a giant place on the west end of town, across from the zoo. We had a big group of us and sat us down in a great place. Our server was very attentive to our group. The beer selection, I thought, was massive and most were very good. We did have some food, mostly burgers and they all looked tasty. No complaints at all.. and will be back for sure. read more

I thought that the service was pretty decent. We didn't wait more than an average amount of time for drinks, appetizer, food, or check. They weren't very busy as it was still kind of early afternoon. I found the atmosphere to be pretty cool. It's got an open, chill vibe to it. This place is probably best before the rush comes in. It's very kid friendly so if you have kids, bring 'em! If you don't, you may want to go somewhere else when the busier hours hit as it will be very loud. The beers were good. It's awesome they have the always menu and the special, temporary menu. It's nice to have the option to try something new every now and again. So why the 3 stars? The food was pretty terrible. If you're going to serve drinks and food and one of them is terrible, you have to lose stars for it. My table had the Buffalo chicken salad - the chicken in this salad is likely boneless wings. The chicken was decent enough. The lettuce was straight up light green iceberg lettuce. This is a pet peeve of mine for $16-$20 salads to have such cheap, nutrient-less lettuce. Put some dark, fresh leafy greens in there for that price! It makes so much of a difference. We also had the cheese curds as an appetizer. These were pretty good as long as you ate one of the big ones. The little ones were pretty much all breading, no cheese. The breading was very garlicky, which we happen to enjoy. Lastly, we had the Nashville hot chicken. We're actually from TN, lived there for 20+ years. Everyone who makes this sandwich thinks all they have to do is fry a piece of chicken and throw their own special hot sauce on it. Well, the chicken is also supposed to be tender and juicy and made with love. Unfortunately, none of those applied to the chicken patty. I personally find chick-fil a's spicy deluxe to taste much better than this one. Did I mention it costs half the price? The bottom part of the bun was very moist and spongy by the time it made it to my table, I set it aside. The fries were also cold as well. I wouldn't mind stopping by for a drink again and enjoying the atmosphere, especially the outdoor area when it warms up. I would not recommend wasting money on the food here. There's better food for the same price or cheaper elsewhere. read more

One of the prettiest breweries I've been to. Both external and internal decor is on point and the draft beers were so yummy! The peach and fungi ones were my faves. I went for a work mixer so we just had a few appetizers so I don't have a good food review to share. But their fried pickles were interesting - and good! I will return when back in town. read more

Out favorite place during the trip. The weather was great so the outside patio was beautiful with plenty of space for the kids to r around. They also have a small indoor play room for the kids. The inside is a great brewery feel with plenty of space and seating. Service was great. We tried several of the local brews and I liked the majority of them. We only tried a couple of appetizers but they were both delicious (garlic cheddar curds and duck wings). And the pricing was great. We will be going back for lunch before we depart. read more

What a beautiful place. We wanted to sit outside but was told we needed to order our food at the bar and it would be brought out to us. When we got there 5:45 the restaurant had just filled with people. It was loud.. really loud. We were seated by an amazing host and our waitress was quickly at our table for being so busy. Grabbed our drink order and we were still looking at the menu when she came back with our drinks.. 20 min later she came back to take our order after taking several other table orders that arrived after us. We ordered an appetizer and our order at the same time. We wanted our appetizer before our meal. 30 min later still no appetizer .. 45 min she said she would check. 1 hour still no appetizer or food. The table next to us got their appetizer with away. 1 hour and 30 min our appetizer arrived with our food being brought out 2 min later. Appetizer. Pretzel delicious. Cheese sauce was watered down and runny. Not much flavor Dinner. Bigg ass fish fry. Small pieces of fish and no tater sauce / when asked for tater sauce staff said they ran out. Husband ordered fettuccine Alfredo. Dry not much sauce. Thick curly noodles. The chicken tasted good. They were quick to bring out our bill without us even finishing our meal or clearing our plates or suggesting a dessert. Would we go back . No Would we suggest this to our friends . No It's such a beautiful place and an amazing setting. I hope other people don't have the same experience we did. read more

We were told it would take 5 to 10 minutes for a table when it actually took 20, We were there an hour and 15 minutes and still hadn't received our food so we asked for it to go. When we got it to go, there were no condiments in the bag so we had to turn around and go back. By the time we actually ate our meal it was cold. There are so many choices in Billings. Please don't be a sap like us and choose this shitty place. Oh, and when I went to complain to the manager, all I got was my condiments. read more

He also mentioned that he knew their performance was below expectation the night we stopped in and invited us back to try to remedy our experience and change our opinion. *He never mentioned or asked us to edit our review - I am doing this by choice* We came back in tonight and our experience was 1000x better. We ordered different main meals than we did the first time to try out more of the menu and were not disappointed. We also got a couple of apps and beers, which were all good. Our waitress was also great! Favorites - the fried pickles are so good and different! The Black Steer's Tookus (beer) is also good! We are happy to give our business to an establishment that made it obvious they care about their customers and their reputation. We will be back. :) read more

Great place for a casual beer & burger..we 2 asked to move to a quieter area as we have hearing issues...server Nyssa cheerfully bussed a quieter table area for us. She brought beer samples & didn't rush us to order. We had the Gettin' figgy with it" burger asked for pink) with fries & I had a generous side salad. Food came out fast and flavorful and Nyssa checked back several times...very good service. She said she enjoys serving people. This place is HUGE and has a great menu of beers both interesting and familiar. The menu is standard updated brew-pub fare, but they do it well! The pretzel was tasty and so were the wings.
