I could never get the background on a piece of meat they can provide from the guy in a supermarket. The prices are as good as the supermarkets too, and you're supporting a great local business by buying here. Their position next to a bakery and fruit shop / deli also means you can do your daily meal shopping without having to enter a big chain. Oh, and they have cheap dog bones. Love that.

There's lots of marinated / ready to cook options, and the fridge holds speciality packaged products and incredible hams. But what I saw when I walked in was the childrens drawings on the wall, the certificates of appreciation from local community groups and the butchers greeting customers by name. Give them a few days and they'll do specialty requests (boned turkey saved me a lot of effort) and they are great at making recommendations. If you live in this area you really shouldn't be buying your meat from anywhere else.

For me Cutting Edge Meats is what I think a butcher should be. The staff are always friendly and helpful, willing to prepare your meat as you request if they don't have it on display. Our experience of the quality of the meat itself is that it is probably some of the best we've found on the northside of the city and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. In particular the lamb that we've purchased has been exceptional. I quite happily stock up here and feel like I'm getting good value for money and supporting a local business in the process. These guys remind me of the butchers of old (yes I'm old to). They open the door for you, genuinely talk with you about.....anything really. Carry your meat to the car (which helps with screaming kids) and always remember who you are. The meat itself is amazing. My partner is a raving hippy so for her it has to be 'organic'. Me, I don't care, as long as its red, dead and juicy I'll eat it. But the different sorts of cuts and marinates really spices up our barbies and makes 'us' look like 5 star chefs! Mmmmm....meeeeeat.

For $7.50 you can get a big ass bowl of rice, battered pork or chicken curry and a bunch of sauce. If you're up for it, for an extra $1 you can get an extra helping. It's extreme but do it. If you're a student, live on this shit. You'll be okay, trust me, I did and I'm still alive to tell the tale. Hell, even if this stuff did kill me, I'd die a happy man.

It's also next door to a butcher which is super convenient. There are all the fruits, pasta's, cheeses and sauces you could hope for. Plus it's a pretty convenient location, on the way to the city if you're going out and need to take anyhting. I didn't notice that they cut their own meats or cheeses, but once again next to a butcher so you may have that sorted there. The staff are friendly, the shop was easy enough to get around, and I was able to buy some fresh flowers out the front. All in all a nice place to visit and next time I feel like a nice tapas plate I'll be going there.
