I was assaulted in May. I went to MedExpress to just get an overall check up to make sure I was okay. They took my vitals and took me back to a room to tell me that they cant help me, they wont cooperate with the police about how hurt I was, and also just told me to leave and go to the ER. NO CARE PROVIDED! AND STILL CHARGED 250 dollars. They are a joke. Go somewhere with actual pay assistance and a place that wont charge you for literal fake care. read more

I brought my grandson in the next morning to have his toe x-rayed and the doctor/NP was great. I still give it a one star for turning my grandson away when it clearly states on multiple signs that walk-ins are welcome and it is called urgent care. The lame grammatically incorrect response to my complaint that was not actually addressed was ridiculous. My eighty year old daughter was turn away from services due to nonpayment. They had billed the wrong insurance. They said they would have to talk to billing and if I wanted her seen I would have to pay the $2000+ . They said the account was reported to credit bureau and sent me and my duaghter out. She was very sick and shaking and was vomiting in the parking lot. I will contact their billing office to straighten this mess out, but will never use them again. read more

There is already one 'one star' review for this place that is hidden for some reason, which is suspicious on it's own. Now let me add my own one star review. I moved to Huntington about five months ago and I have had the misfortune of dealing with this terrible place twice. It's clean, it has a nice waiting room, but don't be fooled. The people working here do not care about you or your well being. They are a factory turning people in and out as quickly as possible so that they can take the cash and run. The first time I went in was a few months ago. I had a recurring intense pain in my groin and side. I am diabetic and I was deeply concerned that this might be tied into my disease. I went in and after a brief exam the doctor brushed my fears aside and proclaimed me to have a pinched nerve in my back. Now although a pinched nerve CAN explain away a variety of concurrent pains, this just didn't seem right to me, but she insisted. She prescribed prednisone. This is about the worst drug you can give a diabetic because it makes your blood sugars SKYROCKET. She told me to be careful and sent me on my way with this and a very mild painkiller (non narcotic.) I spent the next week in agony and fear. The first night my blood sugars skyrocketed, and I went into a panic spiral. For a week I barely ate, desperate to keep my blood sugars low, and that sent me into a shock one night that felt like detoxing from heroin (I am guessing.) I called the next day to find out what to do and they just said "Just keep taking it, you're fine." After the week of terror, fear, no sleep, paranoia....it did NOTHING to solve my pain. I wound up in the ER where they diagnosed a problem with my kindey that was causing the issue. So imagine my distress in finding that I felt I had no other choice but to return to this place yesterday. I have a cracked tooth that is giving me some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. I've tried to manage with over the counter drugs but it has gotten to the point where I am taking the max dose of both Tylenol and Ibuprofin, at the same time, four times a day. I have an appointment for a tooth extraction but not until Friday. In the meantime I am literally at home weeping from the intensity of the pain. So I take the bus trip to MedExpress because I figure they will look in my mouth, see the gaping hole where there once was a tooth, and prescribe me a few days of Vicodin or Percocet - SOMETHING appropriate for this level of pain. The doctor this time - I assume she was a doctor, I really don't know because she didn't even so much as introduce herself - came into the room. She asked me about the situation, which I explained. She looked in my mouth with a light, said "OH yeah that must really hurt," and then REFUSED to give me an appropriate prescription. What planet are we living on, folks? I know there are psychotic drug addicts out in the world chasing the dragon, but any doctor with half a brain knows the difference between that and someone with half a tooth in their mouth and no history of drug abuse. So what did this brilliant person prescribe me after her 20 second visit with me? Iburprofin and Tylenol, and an antibiotic. IT ISN'T INFECTED. I have had an infected tooth, I would know. My jaw/face aren't swollen, there is no indication it's infected. She said "You'll be surprised how much better the antibiotic will make you feel." Well it's been a day and it has had NO EFFECT. These people don't care if you live or die. They might as well be a veterinary office. That's how much care they give to you as a patient. I am so glad I am moving back home at the end of this month. If I could give 0 stars I would. I went in to the MedExpress on Adams Avenue this evening with my granddaughter to get a COVID test. We arrived at 5:25, someone called back at 6:06 to triage. As soon as the phone triage was finished we were told to go on into the clinic. After walking in I headed to the bathroom but our names were called so I turned around. The nurse that did our vitals also did the nasal swabs on us, in all it might have taken five minutes. She was very pleasant. When she finished she said someone would bring us our paperwork in a few minutes then we could leave. After about 35 minutes I really had to go to the bathroom so I opened the door and walked up to the counter and this woman said I'm getting your paperwork right now and I said something along the lines of "that's good, I've have to be somewhere soon" or something to that effect. I went to the bathroom and when I walked back into the area the woman called my name and handed me my paperwork. I thanked her, walked over to the room where we had been placed and told my granddaughter we could go. As we are leaving this woman says to me something along the line of "Next time you have to be somewhere you may want to make an appointment so that your visit doesn't interfere with where you need to be." I said we just needed a COVID test and she became extremely hostile started gesticulating and doing something like air quotes stating that "We had an emergency and this is a medical facility and if you need to be somewhere at a certain time you may want to think about making an appointment." "You were only in there 40 minutes." I felt like I was in the twilight zone. I didn't know what was happening. I had no idea why this woman was being so hostile towards me. At no point did I ever say or ask any member of that facility what was taking so long to get our paperwork (except my granddaughter in the room, with door closed). I told the woman that she needed to get a new attitude and she shouted "no you do!" WTH, this woman needs medication. After leaving I called back to find out her name and the receptionist pretended that she had no idea who I was speaking of and asked me to hold. She came back on the phone and still feigned ignorance. She stuttered and stammered when I asked who the supervisor was and said she didn't know. I asked who the director was and she finally told me his name. I told her she could tell that woman that I would be making a formal complaint. I then said all I did was...and she became nearly hysterical and said I don't want to hear anything you have to say and hung up. I'm sure she doesn't want to be involved for which I do not blame her at all. I am sure this woman, whomever she is must be the clinic B*@#H who bad mouths patients and co-workers, then sweet talks the doctors so they think she is wonderful. I've worked with many snakes like her through the years. Lastly, I didn't even think they made appointments at this place, I thought it was all walk-in. Doubt I'll be back as long as that horrible person works there. read more

i do not recommend going to med express for covid testing, that's where i went to get tested and it was a mess. we waited for over 2 hours to even get in, once we got in it took another hour for them to even come back with my rapid results, and the guy that told me my results acted like he had no clue what he was talking about. he basically told me that i wasn't sick and that it was all in my head and was being very weird with my mom. and the results take 4 days to even come in. read more

Every time I've gone to MedExpress I've had to wait an unreasonably long amount of time. Today I waited for 2 hours and there were 3 people still ahead of me! This place is slower than molasses in January. They should have more than one doctor on staff. I left after asking for a refund on my copay. DO NOT GO TO MED EXPRESS FOR MEDICAL CARE! I had been sick in bed for days with a severe cold and flu like symptoms. Mucinex, Flonase, rest, etc. wasn't helping at all. And then the persistent cough started. Because of a family Christmas vacation that had been planned for months, I finally had to drag myself out of bed and get us all packed to go. I was still feeling really bad and coughing and didn't want to end up in a clinic in another state, so I asked my husband to stop at Med Express on our way out of town. I've been going to this Med Express for years, but they wouldn't take my insurance card because my license (photo ID) had expired (oops). I went ahead and paid their "discounted" fee out of pocket (which is actually half as much as I usually pay after they bill my insurance twice as much and then I have to pay it because I never meet my high deductible). Oh, but there's a catch. I wasn't seen by the doctor (who was standing around outside the exam room). Only a physician assistant who ignored everything I told her, including that nothing over the counter was working and that I was leaving town for the rest of the week and desperately needed some other form of relief. She diagnosed viral upper respiratory infection, told me to continue taking Mucinex, and prescribed pills for the cough. Not surprisingly, I continued to suffer miserably and cough and cough and cough. After no relief, no improvement, and no sleep for a week by now, we finally decided to cut our vacation short and return home early so I could seek more medical attention. Thankfully, there's a happy ending. I went to Family Urgent Care (off 5th Street exit in Huntington). What a difference true medical care and competency make! The doctor diagnosed viral upper respiratory infection, but explained that there was nothing over the counter that he or his patients had found helpful with this year's strain. He prescribed a super medication that combines an antihistamine with a cough suppressant. Because it is VERY expensive, he gave me a coupon for a free trial. Walgreens, Rite Aid, and CVS didn't carry it. I finally found it at Walmart's pharmacy, and with the coupon, paid nothing for it. I've only taken one dose so far (with Motrin as an anti-inflammatory as the doctor instructed) and already feel much better! I WILL NEVER GO TO MED EXPRESS AGAIN. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO TO FAMILY URGENT CARE. If I'd gone there in the first place, I would have been well enough for my family to enjoy the wonderful Christmas vacation we had planned, and we wouldn't have had to return home early. read more

My daughter had been diagnosed with Type B flu. She tried to get through it by herself but called her Mom to her side by day 5. I took her back to MedExpress. The doctor was great, the nurse was phenomenal. After 3L of fluid the nurse offered my daughter a soda and a walk around the facility to move things along. We were there a minimum of 2 hrs and everyone was wonderful. And the best thing- no payment because this was the 2nd time she had been there. That's what I call service! read more

The first time I went there they acted really stuck up and acted like nothing was wrong then when the dr came in I was rushed to the Er for a bad kidney infection. I want to say that I have been going to med express at this address for years (since they opened). I also take my grandson there (who is now 13). I have not been given anything but the most respect from the office staff. The triage people well...they can be a bit stuffy and robotic but I didn't come to see them. The doctors have all been very courteous and they listen. I recently went there for wrist pain and after x-rays and assessment was diagnosed with tendonitis. I also had a sinus infection. Dr. Duncan whom I say is awesome! (she also saved my mom's life when she went into sudden fluid overload from congestive heart failure). She gave me antibiotics for the sinus infection and it cleared up. She gave me prednisone and a splint for the tendonitis. The splint was a big help at night but that and prednisone didn't heal it. I called and they told me to come back. I saw S.Nelson PAC who gave me meloxicam and gave me the option of taking it for two weeks and/or seeing an orthopedic doctor at Scott Orthopedics where they do a walk in clinic. Being a nurse over 20 years I thought I would go ahead to the orthopedic doctor. It is difficult to wear a splint at work and the constant movement would cause the pain to get worse as the day went on. The orthopedic doctor (Dr. Bolano) confirmed their diagnosis and gave me a cortisone injection. The difference is like night and day! Thank you Med Express for the referral. I want to address the other bad reviews: I work with a lot of diabetics who have been prescribed prednisone and it is a well know fact that diabetics are aware. If you don't like how you feel, use common sense and don't take it. They made reference to (mild painkiller, heroine, non narcotic, over the counter drugs, Tylenol and ibuprofen, Vicodin, Percocet, psychotic drug addicts (drug addicts vs psychotic drug addicts hmm). Due to the skyrocketing abuse of prescription drugs doctors have to be very careful about prescribing them. And if they weren't happy the first time why go back unless they were hoping to get another doctor or plain doctor shopping. read more

Last April my husband and I both went to Medexpress after being at our family doctor 3 days previous. I was having severe pain in my jaw and was given an antibiotic at the doctor which didn't help. I had called my dr. and was informed he would be out for the next week and I would have to wait to see him. My husband had been having problems breathing and trouble with his B/P. The doctor changed his meds and told him to be back by 5 days so he could see how the new meds were working. Well they didn't help at all and it would be 15 days before he could be seen again. By Sunday both of us were worse and rather than go to the hospital which was suggested by his receptionist, we went to Medexpress. The staff couldn't have been any nicer or helpful. We were both treated and found out that both of us had respiratory infections and were given scripts which we filled at Walmart. On Monday we were called and asked if we were better or needed to be seen again. At that point after 2 doses we both were much better. They called again on Friday to check on us. I am grateful for the attention they gave us as my husband would have ended up in the hospital if we had waited for his doctor. I am having trouble with my foot and am planning on going in to see them tomorrow and get an x-ray. My doctor said I could come and get an order to have one done at the hospital because they still don't have a tech after over a year. read more
