At first, I thought that it wasn't going to do the trick - the bottom wasn't as crusty as I usually like it. But the taste on everything was REALLY spot on. I think it has to do with their chorizo which is NOT at all spicy but very flavorful with a smoky taste. This touched everything in the dish perfectly. They cooked a set of scallop, by the looks of it, in a pan and dropped them on top. Very well seasoned and cooked, although one didn't have the nice sear as the others. One thing that I don't think is for everyone but it is for me is that there were a lot of peas. A LOT. i don't mind at all and I thought it was fine. One thing, however, kinda bugs me. We decided to do a Tapas style dinner and ordered the Papas Bravas (fried potato, mango aioli, salsa brava), Chickpea Hummus (radish, cucumber, red pepper ganoush, pita), Arancini( porcini, parmigiano, truffle mascarpone) and the Artichoke drumsticks. The potatoes were good and so was the hummus. The radish served along side the hummus, although pretty, really didn't make much sense to accompany the hummus. some fancy carrots and more cucumbers would have worked much better. Absolutely wonderful experience!!! We came here Saturday evening to celebrate Valentine's Day. The wait service was quick, very kind, and thorough with explaining and answering questions. The food came out fairly quick after ordering. But the waitress did not rush us at all to place our next course orders, so we took our time. The cocktails were delicious. I had Hello Daly and it was just the right amount of sweet/tart. The appetizers : sheep's milk ricotta and sourdough, and artichoke were amazing. The lemon garlic sauce on the artichoke was For our entrees I had the house made tagliatelle and my husband had the salmon. They were both incredible. Decent sized portions too! I could have taken half of mine home but, it was so tasty I could not stop eating it. The ambiance of the restaurant is very classy, it's not quite fine dining but it is on the nicer end. Entrees: The paella's flavor was good but the shrimp was over cooked and rubbery which was disappointing for the price . The NY strip was pretty good but nothing special. Went for lunch the other day and had a nice experience. Restaurant and bathrooms are ADA/ handicap accessible which is a huge plus. Lots of items on the menu are, or can be made, gluten free. Bit pricey for what you get- a lunch for 2 (with 1 drink each) was over $80. Sesame chicken bowl had good flavors but the chicken was overcooked and dry. Absolutely love love love Mediterra! Upscale, smart casual vibes. Locally sourced food, and great eats. We came for dinner on a Sunday night & were seated at the bar as it was pretty busy but we enjoyed our experience nonetheless. The views in the restaurant are very nice with great low lighting and a nice view outside (depending where you're seated). Ambience aside, the food was amazing! We had a pitcher of sangria that was tasty and strong, just how I like it... but my friend mentioned to me that it was more fruity the last time she dined here. Onto the food, 11/10. We filled up on appetizers (or should I say some delicious carbs!!) and they were show-stopping. The papas bravas were yummy and so tasty when paired with the sauces, which we got on the side. The bread basket with oil was perfect, and the cheeseboard was also phenomenal! Like many, I love charcuterie boards and enjoyed trying the different cheeses on the artisanal cheese board. The jam, cheese, and nutty bread combined was the perfect bite. We filled up on carbs and cheese and were too full to even try main courses which we were disappointed by!! Wow I've been coming to Mediterra for years I cant believe I never wrote them a review. I used to come here frequently to watch soccer in the afternoon and grab some wine. There are a lot of vegetarian options (although not as many vegan). They used to sit you down with some amazing break from their Bakery location, but last time I went it seemed like they stopped that and now you can buy the bread. Its right in downtown Princeton with a fountain right out front. There is ample outdoor seating and really great desserts. Come for their happy hour! Some wine and some appetizers and some desserts on sale. Things to get: Patatas Bravas: Yeah they're potatoes but yum! and the aioli is also fire Grilled Octopus: Pretty delicious and well cooked. Paella: Made to order so it takes a little while for the dish to come out but it's so delicious and filled with great seafood Any of their pasta dishes: so yummy and filling which is the best part If you do not come for the BUTTERSCOTCH BUDINO, you're kidding yourself! I can tell right off the bat that the noodles were house made; I enjoyed the thick texture. There were a few porcini mushrooms thrown in which I loved. The menu stated that there was braised chicken but with each bite I cannot taste chicken at all. the meat tasted like minced Italian sausage to me. Personally, Im not a big fan of sausage so it wasn't a perfect 10/10 in my book but that doesn't take away from the quality of the food. I do recommend and you can't go wrong ordering this pasta. We also had the burger. Juicy. For $18, I wish there was more offered. A complaint I had was that the table for two was tiny. Could barely fit if we ordered appetizers. Very disappointing place for brunch with our family. Everyone received their meal except my daughter. She insisted that we start the eat so our meal didn't go cold. The server never acknowledged her missing meal. After inquiring three times about her meal with staff, no meal or manager to tell of what the problem was. After I finished my meal, I left the table to find a manager so I could inquire again about my daughter's meal. After 20 minutes, they finally brought her meal. Zero communication from our waitress and/or management during this 20 minutes. Her meal..... Just pancakes. Nothing too difficult. Sadly, they were not worth the wait. Very dry pancakes. There seems to be a lack of staff experience & management. There is a disconnect with this restaurant. Overall, the brunch menu selections were not that great. The food is average. Came here with a party of 2 on a Friday night. Loved the ambiance and our waitress was very attentive. To start we ordered an app of grilled pears and bruschetta with cheese which was tasty. We then split the paella for our entree which was really delicious and plenty of food for the two of us! Then for dessert we got an apple pastry/donut with ice cream which was decent. I will say that other than the paella the other dishes we got were definitely on the smaller size in terms of size. It was an absolutely beautiful day this particular Sunday afternoon. We almost stopped at Yankee Doodle Tap Room but carried on down Palmer Square to here, it was a slightly better to our liking for outdoor seating tucked away out of the sun. We've enjoyed a happy hour or two before at Mediterra so I was completely comfortable make the choice to dine here knowing it might be a bit pricey. So atmosphere was perfect, hostess graciously sat my wife and I at a table for 4 as I respectfully rejected sitting at a small table for 2 next to a dog and a second one wedged in between other guests. Our waitress was genuine and personable, with her and others attentive in bussing our table as needed. Food was good, flavorful even unique in ways. Portions were definitely small for the price: appetizer, salad and side of fries all could have been a bit more generous, at pennies a pound for the ingredients and even less added to any labor to serve it. Over all we really enjoyed our dining experience with the blaring exception Of the outdoor chairs, quite honestly as comfortable as a gray hound bus station seating meant to keep vagrants from napping on them. Went here to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday so we had a room to ourselves. It was a spacious, wine room with two long tables, and comfortably fit 25+ people. There was even a both which was used as a gift/prop table but could've easily fit another 3-4 people! Brunch began with sweet breads, some sprinkled with white raisins and walnuts. But my favorite was sprinkled with sugar - light, fluffy and not too sweet. For apps, we shared hummus (the radishes added a nice bite). For the main course, the pan roasted chicken was plentiful and the combination of seasonal veggies complimented the poultry well. We also had eggs and eggplant Parmesan but I was all set with the chicken. Staff was friendly and attentive and even served us well-crafted cappuccinos to go with the birthday cake. Through the years, we have eaten at most of the nicer places in Princeton -- Mediterra should be at the top of your list. Third time here, and enjoyed it again (albeit with a couple of reservations). Menu is lovely without being overwhelming, food has been consistently terrific. Shared a burrata appetizer -- which was delicious (served with sautéed peppers)...but came with only one slide of bread...with a clearly shared app -- and request for more went unanswered. My first excursion into the Princeton New Jersey food scene. See that was a joke because Princeton New Jersey does not have a food scene. Mediterra was thoroughly unremarkable. Service: We walked in at noon and were told there was going to be a 40 minute wait for a table for 2. We ended up sitting at the bar and over the course of the next hour and a half there were probably 20 empty tables in the house and outside. Starters: Buratta that was neither fresh nor made in house and hummus that went exactly the same way. Both paired with bread that was, again, neither fresh nor homemade. Are there no decent local bakeries? Can this place not make sourdough? Mains: I have no idea what was in my bowl and frankly I didn't eat very much of it.
