Es wurde drinnen heiter weiter bedient und als ich reinging um Besteck zu holen wurde pädagogisch wertvoll mit schiefgelegtem Köpfchen referiert, dass man es schon bringen würde. Achso, wenn die Nudeln ganz kalt sind? Nix für schwache Nerven. und es wäre so einfach. Von zwei Getränken ist eins falsch gewesen. Am Nebentisch ebenso. Aber sie tut ihr Bestes. ah ja. Reicht nicht. Einfach nur die Hälfte Tische besetzen, wenn man mehr nicht leisten kann. völlig ok!

Die Suppe war dünn, und hell Braun mit kleine, oben-schwimmende Fettaugen. Grundsätzlich habe ich nichts gegen Fettaugen, wenn sie zum Geschmack beitragen. Nur diese Brühe hatte leider keinen Geschmack. Die bunten Zucchini Würfeln und sehr wenige Bohnen und Weißkohl Streifen konnten alleine die Braune Brühe nicht zum Leben erwachen. Knoblauch? Fehlanzeige, Pfeffer? Fehlanzeige, Salz? usw. Seltsam finde ich es, dass die Brühe Braun war, und scheinbar nichts (Geschmacklich) mit dem Gemüse zu tun hatte. Nein, ich habe mich nicht Vorort beschwert aus dem einfachen Grund, dass ich wenig Zeit hatte und gar keine Lust hatte auf ein Grundsatzdiskussion über der Definition von Minestrone, und verschiede kulinarische Interpretationen davon. Das Erlebnis heute war enttäuschend. Ich hoffe, dass Engelke beim nächsten Besuch besseres zu bieten hat.

They have a…read morevariety of combo items you can get, but my wife and I went for the full breakfast for 2 people: 3 bread rolls, 2 croissants, 2 hard boiled eggs, and a huge plate of various meats, cheeses, and fruits. For 16 euro, it's a great deal. I know this is a pretty standard selection for Germany, but everything was fresh and homemade. The best thing was the homemade strawberry/vanilla marmelade, it was very unique and tasty; the owner mentioned she makes several different marmelades we will have to try next time. It's a small place with maybe 2 tables inside and seating for 4-6 people, but plenty of seating outside. It's a normal bakery/cakery also, so you can get everything you would expect in that category also, but definitely come early, since things run out.

I don't know why, but the checkout lady took all my vegetables away and brought them back with individual price stickers on them. Very strange. I don't speak German so I have no idea what that was for. Note: if you're trying to cross Wandsbeker Chaussee to get to the store, just go through the Wandsbek U1 tunnel under the street since there's no crosswalk.

After about a few weeks of closure it reopened and boy is it beautiful. You don't normally think of grocery stores as beautiful but this one certainly is. You will notice when you walk in you are created with the smell of and visions of bread and sweats at the bakery. After you make your way through that distraction you are immerse in the land of produce. The vibrant colors, the smells of those green leafy things we call vegetables, the perfect amount mist on the most perfect ripened fruit. It is hard to ignore. You are then greeted with the new salad bar with a selection of the stores finest. Winding your way through the rest of the store is easy, as if you're following the yellow brick road. You will find all the fresh products on the outer edge of the store and the remaining items right in the center. When finally get through the maze of foods you will enter the wine and beverage area. Isles of wine, beer, soda and more. It is then off to the check outs. Anyone who knew this location before knew how slow it was due to the fact of only a couple of check outs. Not now, there are 7 check outs and they tend to be much quicker now. Your in and out and all with a smile on your face.
