I've since established the trust, and that plus a will, power of attorney, and health care proxy were all executed with a different law office, specializing in estate planning for $3k.

There was only one thing left for her to do for us and that was to make an amendment to our will. It was supposed to be done mid August. Late Sept. we realized we never heard from her. I emailed her twice , then I called her twice, I stopped in her office to see if I could catch her in, unfortunately she was out that day. I left my name and phone numbers (it is now early November) still no response. Of course, we paid her in full. We had to hire another attorney and had him look over the documents she created. We had our home put in trust but she never had this recorded with the county we live in nor did she explain that was something we had to do, so the house was not protected. She said Medicaid could not touch our retirement funds, so we thought they were protected, but she never explained that they would have to be spent down before Medicaid would step in. In the end she did us a favor by not returning our call, we found the right attorney who explained all this to us and what we had to do to protect ALL our assets.

He referred me to Pat Fiore at a very reasonable fixed price. The closing ground work started smoothly, and I flew out of state to start my new job. However, once I had left NY, issue began to arise. We needed some documentation from the previous close in 2012 that I did not have. Pam, who works with Pat, was fantastic about aggressively trying to track that paperwork down. By the time I called the previous attorney for the first time, their receptionist was already well aware of what I was looking for. My previous attorney was not able to get the paperwork we needed as quickly as I would have liked because it was in his off-site storage. Pat Fiore called me and was very clear and honest about what the different outcomes and options were, based on when and if we could get that paperwork. He advised me not to do anything with escrow, and postpone the closing he had already done all of his work for. Pat dealt with the buyer's attorney, who was dealing with an irate buyer after we pushed back the close date, and my previous attorney while providing me great council and service. While we did get the paper around 5PM the day before the close, Pat had already decide not to go forward with the close being handled by a paralegal, based on all the potential landmines he saw. We closed a week later than originally planned, but everything went smoothly and without a hitch. Pat and Pam definitely went above and beyond in working hard and providing great council, and I was very impressed with them. I had multiple conversations with Pat, and they never felt rushed or stressed. He was thorough, thoughtful and helpful. I would definitely recommend Pat Fiore based on my experience working him.
