Filming from inside our own buildings while someone is outside screaming threats to stab people is something you have directly discouraged people from doing because you don't want evidence that then have to act on. Footscray police are a total waste of time. I went in to report an assault on myself because they wouldn't attend the address and they somehow have no report or any evidence of me ever attending the station or making any calls even though I was speaking to police on a weekly basis. Giving them a whole building is a waste of space when they basically do little to nothing there. They certainly have an issue with keeping track of things they've written down. One star is one too many

My home was broken into and damaged. I called the police because there was an unknown person inside…read moremy house. I did not know this person. I was not home when the break-in occurred, but when I returned, the person was still there. I barricaded myself in my bathroom and called the police while trying to stop them from breaking down the door. I was extremely frightened and in shock. The police attended, but I was told the next day that I would be contacted around 10 pm. regarding the incident and next steps. They said 10 pm because they and I was and I made sure I was up and ready , I never received any follow-up call. I took photos of the damage, but no one followed through with me. This is not the first time I feel my situation has not been taken seriously. Previously, in late November (around November 24), I called police because I could hear someone trying to open my front door, and then attempting to access my bedroom window. This has happened before, and in the past I would call my boyfriend to come over, but we had recently broken up, so I was alone. I explained to the officers that I live by myself, I am a woman, and I had no way to protect myself. I told them I was very scared and asked them to please come by. I was told to get a Ring camera, which I cannot afford, and they said they wouldn't not be attending my property and that they may survey around the area later on to see anything suspicious. I do not know if this is normal behaviour, but I feel extremely lucky that nothing worse has happened yet, as the situation appears to be escalating. When my home was finally broken into, police did attend, but there was no follow-up about pressing charges, obtaining a restraining order, or any safety planning. This person could return at any time. My window is now broken, and I have limited ability to fix it. I considered uploading photos but did not want to publicly show that my home is vulnerable. I have tried calling again, as well as contacting other numbers, but my calls have not been answered. I am requesting that this situation be taken seriously and that I receive proper follow-up, protection, and guidance on how to proceed.
