We had learned about the starter issue on the day I picked up the car to drive it home. The salesman reassured us that their mechanic had said it wasn't an immediate problem; that we could possibly "get another 10,000 kms out of it" before the starter would need to be replaced; and that when it did eventually need replacing, the cost of doing so would probably be covered by the National warranty we had purchased with the car. Less than 100 kms later, the car wouldn't start. Thankfully, the starter was indeed covered by the National warranty. However, we had to pay out-of-pocket for both a new battery (which needed to be replaced because of the faulty starter) and the associated labour costs, because these services weren't covered. Upon learning the car had been towed for repairs only a few days after being sold, the Carpath salesman had offered to help with costs if not covered by warranty. When told the warranty covered the starter but not the battery, Carpath did not offer to reimburse us.

We visited a few used car importers at the time and this particular one was the most helpful and informative. We had visited on the recommendation of a friend, and I have since read other favourable reviews about them on another forum. The owner Peter Evans believes that if you treat people honestly you can sleep well at night and he likes to do that. It's hard to find a used car dealership you can trust, but I believe you can trust this one! We had a couple of electrical issues with our Estima and took it back there to have them fixed under warranty, and were very happy that they were fixed promptly with no hassles. I am happy to recommend Southern Special Vehicles to anyone.

If I could give 0 stars I would…read more I was told the car had one owner -- it had three. I was told it would be serviced -- it wasn't. Shortly after purchase, the engine light came on. I was told it was emissions, then a few weeks later "bad fuel". A mechanic later confirmed a replaced fuel pressure sensor was under the bonnet and the car had underlying fuel pressure issues. Two independent mechanics (including VW) also confirmed the timing chain is worn/failing causing the fuel pressure issue -- a major repair likely costing close to the value of the car. When I raised this, the dealership declined to properly address it and referred me to a warranty with very limited cover. Based on my experience, I strongly do not recommend buying from this dealer.
