We ordered a medium pepperoni pizza (6 slices), could have gone with a small, a lil' house salad and the lil' caesar salad with the applewood smoked bacon it was BLISS. Portions were perfect, with the salad we had two left over piece's of pizza to take home. My companion and I were staying about 45 minutes from this location in Boone, that during a visit down to Charlotte we decided that making the 100+ mile drive back to the Boone Location was absolutely reasonable if only for the salads, bypassing closer locations along the way. I am a big fan of the Mellow Mushroom chain. I first visited one in Raleigh NC with my daughter that was going to NC State. I have also visited the location in Wilmington NC on a few occasions. I have to say that this location in Boone did not disappoint at all. I would say that they were above the quality of the other Mellow Mushrooms that I have visited, and Mellow Mushrrom is definitely head and shoulders above any other pizza place that we have tried! Four of us ate there Sunday evening April 27. We ordered a large pizza, beer and salads. The pizza crust was burned We complained about it and were told that it would take too long to make a large pizza would we mind getting a small pizza. We said ok. After waiting another 30 minutes the manager came out and told us that the small pizza crust was burned. Since we were waiting for someone to get back to Boone we were not in a hurry but we were hungry so we told him to make us a third small one. The third pizza FINALLY came and it was ok. We finished and got our bill. They had the audicity to charge us for the large burnt pizza. No discount, voucher or apology. We complained but our waitress would not get the manager. Sorry place. I love the Mellow Mushroom chain - always very reliable! This place is no exception. Very cozy restaurant and bar. Not as many taps as other locations but it did have hard to find beer. Service was awesome as usual - super nice bartenders and hostess. The pizza is excellent here but at this location I specifically had the meatball trio. Served as an app the plate comes out with 3 huge meatballs on skewers. Covered in parm and dripping in delicious marinara sauce. Very filling and delectable on this snowy day!! Stopped here today for a late lunch on my Blue Ridge Parkway adventure . Watched the NCAA tourney on large screen TV and had one of their 25 beers on tap , Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Bartender was very nice and gave me suggestions. Ordered a Meatball Calzone that would have fed 2, so I took a doggie bag for my hotel that night and heated it up there for a late snack. Well let's see now. I love Mellow Mushroom and there was an excellent one in Raleigh. I decided to try this one out with the boyfriend a few weeks ago. It took almost two hours for our food to come out from the minute we arrived! It wasn't until later that we found out that a part of 30 people had come in before us... The wait made the food worth it though. Even if we'd gotten the food a few minutes after we had ordered, it would still be phenomenal. No question, a great pizza pie. This chain has become pretty prolific across the South--there's one in Boone and Blowing Rock just eight miles away! Each store has its own personality--this one had a mountain feel to it, of course. Had a short wait on a Tuesday night. Waitress was friendly but not overly. Decided to branch out and try one of the specialty pizzas for a change. Buffalo chicken seemed up our alley considering our affinity for wings. We asked to add blue cheese crumbles to the pizza. Mistake. Cheese was way too strong and drowned out every other flavor. You got the heat from the buffalo sauce but not even the vinegar could blast through. Occasionally the bacon made an appearance. The crust was a bit dark and hard--as if the pie was left in the oven a few minutes too long. The hardest thing for me to get over at the Shroom is the prices. A large pie will set you back close to $25. Fresh, quality ingredients, yes, but that's a lot. We had a couple beers a piece and split a small salad and a medium pizza. Bill with tip was close to $50. Good but not that good! read more

After dining at Mellow Mushroom Blowing Rock, we had dinner at the Boone location on Saturday night the 5th. The layout in this location is a bit different, more seats, but maybe a bit TOO open in floor plan. It appeared to me that tables were moved around, chairs were everywhere, just looked a bit unorganized in the main area. I really can't add much from the previous Blowing Rock review. Service here was good, and she was very pleasant. Moved things at a good pace, but non rushed. Food was good and well prepared. Even had tortilla soup again, and noted how they put the sour cream in the soup was the same way as in Blowing Rock (much better presentation at these locations with the soup than in Atlanta when they just throw a dollop of sour cream in the soup, or worse yet, bring it on the side). Resort prices prevailed again here in Boone. I fully expected that. Another four stars, and I would come back again, but if I have my choice, I would go to Blowing Rock over this location (exception might be when students are here if one is into coed viewing). read more

One of the best places to visit in Boone. I say visit because of the great location and decor. Great food, service and staff. Beer selection is also very good. Of my two sons I have one very finicky eater and the other not so much. They both loved their food. We had an extra large booth next to a large window which over looked the main strip so we had a great view of all the locals and tourists. We have visited almost all of NC's Mellow Mushrooms and this is by far one of the best. Recently went to the new one in Cary, NC and was disappointed. Staff in Boone is made up of ASU students who all were extremely nice. This was our first visit to their new location and we will be back. read more

A group of friends came up here to celebrate a birthday celebration and it was a great atmosphere . The radio that was on played some of my favorite tunes . I had a specialty cocktail named Pineapple Express . I'm willing to taste new things and this drink had a kick to it . It was absolut vodka with chipotle and it was very well put . My friend had a specialty drink called the dreamcicle and it tasted just like orange Popsicles . He enjoyed it very well . For my appetizer I had a dish with spinach portobello mushrooms and artichoke hearts it had drizzled balsamic vinaigrette . It was an interesting dish but I enjoyed it . Just because it looks strange doesn't mean it won't taste awesome !! For my entree I had the Boone goon . I'm not much of a pizza fan but it was a must have at mellow mushroom . Our server was too busy hanging with the bar tender, we had to track her down about 3 times..she sat us, then she went to the bar area to hang with her co workers. We had to walk over there to let her know we were ready to order..shortly after we ordered, she gave us our appetizers and 2 minutes later out came the pizza..like give us time to eat our appetizers, especially since there was no room on the table for the pizza..so we asked her to take our pizza back until we were done with our appetizers..once we were done with our appetizers, again we had to find her at the bar area chilling with her co workers, how frustrating!! She checked on us maybe once to see how everything was, but believe we had to hunt her down again at the bar area to get our check..I'm sure we'd be able to walk out of the restaurant too, how carefree their staff seems to be. I do plan on coming back here when we visit North Carolina again, but next time we will be sitting at the bar, maybe we'd get better service that way, lol. Decent food but on a recent trip we tried to use a gift card given to us by a family member. The card was supposed to have $50 dollars on it but when we went to check out it only had .81 cents. There obviously is fraud or theft happening and management said it's basically our problem. We paid and left. We contacted their corporate office and no call backs. They don't seem to care. We came here at 7pm on Sunday eve with a party of three people. Ordered hummus with balsamic reduction appetizer for starters which was excellent. They served it with soft warm pitta triangles and small slices of garlic bread. Very fresh ingredients bursting with flavor. Then we ordered half large size chicken teriyaki sun dried tomato banana pepper pizza and half ceaser salad chicken pizza. I must admit Ceaser salad chicken pizza sounded like a weird concept, but somehow it worked on pizza bread. I liked it because I love Ceaser salad( the dressing that they made reacked anchovies, which I love) and they put fresh sliced tomatoes on the pizza along with real parmigiano regianno cheese shavings and fresh romaine lettuce. I even loved the pizza bread, although the bottom of it was a little too dark for my taste. The other pizza half was OK. I thought there were too many flavors nor suited with one another going on. It was just an ok flavor. Nevertheless, all in all, the ingredients were fresh, the service was very good. The server, a young girl( unfortunately, I do not rememeber her name) was very attentive and courteous. I am giving the place 3 stars because of the decent fresh food and very good customer service. First time coming to a Mellow Mushroom and the Pizza, Calzone and the cheeseburger was aaaamazing. I tried a little of each from my family. I ordered the chicken salad on a sandwich. That wasn't great... but I hear thats not there go too. If you go there you must order the pizza. The local beer was fantastic. The place is cool... and the waitress was very helpful, even when asking about the town etc and places to see and things to do. They had a swing at the bar.. so of course I had to swing while I drank my cold beer. I would return for sure. read more
