Excellent fresh made pizza. I live in NC and have always been to the MM in Raleigh and now the one in Cary. This one in Lexington/Columbia is very consistent with the quality of food as the others, which is fantastic. The wait staff at this one was also very friendly and helpful. Yes! Spartanburg send your staff down here to learn what a real sandwich looks like. This location has an amazing vibe and the covered patio with the living wall of bicycles is so wonderful. My tempeh hoagie with vegan cheese and no green peppers was a vegan dream meal. My husband got a fantastic looking Italian sandwich. We both stopped just short of licking the plate. If we are ever back in the area I'd eat there again in a heartbeat. read more

Had lunch on Thursday. Restaurant wast busy around 1pm and we asked if we could wait at a table outside until they were able to get to us. Kobe obliged and was honest telling us he'd be to us as soon as possible. We waited maybe 7-9 minutes and he was there with water and menus. From the start, Kobe was amazing. Funny and quick and had recommendations for food. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. He even convinced my picky friend to try a pizza that had a garlic mayo sauce! One of us had gotten a salad with a Looooooong Green hair. Yuck. He was horrified for us and made sure he replaced it and removed it from the bill. Very apologetic. We ended up having a phenomenal time and enjoying our food very much. As a group of four we already decided we can't wait to go back and ask to sit with Kobe's section. In a day and age of craziness in the service industry I'd causation the manager of this establishment to not lose this kid. He's top notch. Despite being busy he treated us like we were his only customers. He even saved us from a lizard that was creeping up on us outside! Have him train your newbies! read more

Where to start.... terrible, first and last time we will go here. The pizza was so undercooked and my husband ordered a calzone to go that still wasn't ready by time we were done eating when we ordered it with the first of the food. He asked for it to be taken off our order because we had a screaming baby so we needed to leave and the manager refused and said 'because he can't' the food was nasty service was terrible. We are trying to eat well, so we ordered a take out salad. We figured we would spilt a large Greek salad. I took 2 pictures, because you must see it to believe it. I could woof this down and want more. Total cost was $9.80. Almost $10 for this little salad? And no meat to boot. I feel like an idiot !!. My boyfriend and I had the BEST experience at this Mellow!!! Our server, Jeremy was absolutely fabulous. He was very enthusiastic and made it hard not to smile with every interaction. Not to mention he didn't miss a beat in meeting all of our needs. The food was also DELISH!!! We ordered pretzel bites with spicy beer cheese, which we'd never had before and I definitely recommend. I always get a lil' Greek salad and that was great per usual. Last but not least, the star of the show, the PIZZAAAAA!!!!! Dogumm that thing was good. We love Mellow Mushroom as it's our favorite. We went in tonight and not only amazing pizza but service was impeccable!!! No one can keep up with my tea guzzling husband... but tonight, our server was one step ahead. Not only that, I came in with a very hungry and crying 6year old. The server didn't hesitate to quickly offer some chips to get something in his tummy to make him more comfortable while we got seated... then she proceeded to come check on him. She was absolutely amazing and we never finished a drink before she was refilling. Service is a dying art but not at Mellow Mushroom in Lexington. Love coming to just about any Mellow Mushroom restaurant. I liked this one and decided to try it out again. Everyone loved the food and the service was excellent. The only bad was the dead roach at the entrance mat and the old bruschetta bread they used. Other than that I would say give it a try and see for yourself. Beer selection is good and cold. This place is a joke. Got sat right away, but that was the end of anything good. Our waitress took out order, then came back and said they didn't have any dough for medium pizzas. Sat and watched waitresses take orders from each other to fulfill their own tables. Overheard that it was going to take a minimum of an hour to an hour and a half to get a pizza. I knew as soon as we walked in the door...service was going to be rough. We had a 30 min wait for 6 people..no biggie. When we were seated, our drink orders and appetize orders were taken. Appetizers came out 45 minutes later. Then my salad 15 minutes later with no silverware. When we flagged down the waitress she brought back a fork an a prepackaged plastic knife. She told us the silverware was being washed. So I ate my dinner salad in front of my family while they waited for their pizzas to come out. Finally after an hour and twenty minutes the pizzas came out. By then everyone was frustrated and just ready to leave. The waitress kept telling us the kitchen was backed up with their ovens. Our waters were never refilled. We didn't care at this point bc my two children had had enough. I'm not sure what's going on...but other reviews are very similar to mine. I do love the food and the servers are always sweethearts. However, we are going to limit our visits due to the very long waits and high cost of the food. If you have small children, waiting this long is just too much of a hassle. I have been every week since I have moved here. Even when the restaurant was dead, our pizza took a very long time. Stopped in for a salad for lunch. First let me say that I eat out, a lot. I eat salads, a lot. I am willing to pay a lot of money for a really good meal anytime of the day. I just spent $50 at Cafe Strudel yesterday and I'd much rather give my money to a local business anyway so it was probably a bad idea to come here in the first place, but I had heard great things and knew the wife of the owner so since I was in the area I decided to stop by since Lexington isn't exactly a melting pot for local flavors. I was excited to have one of their build your own salads since I detest the sauce they use on their pizza and have never enjoyed their pies at any other location. So I start building my salad: $3.49 for the base of spinach and spring mix. $.79 each for the 5 veggies I wanted. $1.79 for each of the "premium" fruits and veggies I wanted (times 2). $2.79 for avocado. $2.79 for applewood smoked bacon. And here's the kicker: $4.99 for grilled chicken. I don't know about you, but I can go to Jason's Deli, build my own salad (that I know tastes good), add a chicken breast on the side, have free soft serve and get out for $10. So next time I want a quick salad for lunch that's exactly where I will go. The service wasn't stellar. They do have the Free Times and the patio fence is made of recycled bikes which looks neat so that's what earned them one star. While I think their menu is awesome, they've messed up my order each and every time I've been there. :( You wait so long for the food, you pretty much just want to eat it at that point no matter what. Even when I've gotten carry out (and again waited long past my designated pick up time) my order was wrong. One thing is for certain, they are not good at transcribing custom order. If you ask to substitute this for that, or leave off this or that, they just can't execute it correctly. And the vegan calzone doesn't list cheese in the description, but it comes with cheese. After three times, I'm done. But I'm still giving it 2 stars, because the service personnel is friendly, I like the uniqueness of their menu, and they cater to those with gluten intolerance and vegetarian diets. read more

First and last time at this place. Called and ordered two pizzas: bayou blue and Thai pizza. They said forty minutes. I waited the allotted time and drove to pick up the pizza. Was shocked on the bill ( didn't realize each medium pizza which equates to 6 small slices of pizza is $20). Paid the amount and then was told it will be a while like 15 minutes and they are speeding up the process since I was already here. Went and parked where they told me and a woman came out to tell me they were out of shrimp on the bayou bleu so would I like to change my order... That would have been nice to know before I paid because I would have told them to just give me the one since they were making my pizza when I arrived... I told them to double the sausage that already comes on it. Brought it home and the pizza didn't even taste great. Save your money and order somewheres else. The food at Mellow Mushroom has the best Pizza so far in Lexington, the flavors were exceptional, but the flavors have remarkable depth. Presentation of the food was great. A host of items on the menu, offering something for the whole family. The shop is both clean and tidy, having plenty seating space and a nice bar. The hostess/ waitress was attentive at all times. Staff members there greeted us in/ out when we left. The small pizza was more than filling, loved the mushroom soup!! I know I'll certainly be returning soon and would recommend this facility. read more

I'm totally a fan of this place but the parking situation is terrible even during lunch. I found an old dirt lot behind the building today after work to meet some friends. If your thinking about making a left and heading to Columbia when leaving be prepared to wait awhile. So my only suggestion is to get here early and carpool to save yourself a headache. Our server, red hair and tattoos on both thighs (sorry don't know her name) was very strange. She totally ignored me. I like the pizza here. I really do, but why do all Mellow Mushrooms take so long to make their pizza? I came here on a rainy Saturday with 6 family members. We were seated in one of the large booths next to the psychedelic wall (which my Great Aunt Charlotte really enjoyed). As soon as we sat down, one cousin realized she had to run an errand, so she told us her order and left. When she got back 40 minutes later, our food had still not arrived. Four of us split a large pesto pizza which is my personal favorite. It comes with an olive oil and pesto base, cheese and tomatoes. The large is plenty for four people. The other two split a small pepperoni pizza. On the weekends and at night, they do not serve individual slices. Their crust is a highlight for me. Typically I think crust is edible cardboard, but Mellow Mushroom's is actually enjoyable. Our waitress was not the most attentive. It took a while for her to take our order and bring our drinks. If a restaurant is really busy, this never bothers me. The day we were in, the restaurant was maybe half full. Also, I would like to note that their floor is VERY slippery. I recognize that I am a really clumsy person, but everyone was seconds from tumbling over especially since it had been raining all day. Moral of the story, I much prefer Mellow Mushroom as a take-out place. read more

I have had Mellow Mushroom before in Savannah, GA, however was visiting a friend in the area when we decided to go to Mellow Mushroom in Lexington. We were going for lunch a little past the lunch hour (around 1PM) and so we were seated in a timely manner in a booth which was perfect for the three of us. Looking at the menu we were ravenous, so we got the pretzels with the beer cheese dip to share as an appetizer. They were quite good, however the beer cheese dip is at an extra cost so be aware that it doesn't just come with the pretzels. I ordered the House Calzone and added the artichoke hearts to make it a hearty meal. It was quite good! My only complaint here was regarding the service due to the limited number of wait staff and also the amount of time it took to get the waitress's attention each time we needed something. The waitress we had in particular also was rather forgetful and needed to be asked a couple of times for things which only aggravated the already frustrating inability to get her attention at our table. This could be one person, however it unfortunately had an impact on our lunch. Otherwise the food and company were great! read more

So I know after ordering from this location before that you always arrive late for a pick up order because that they always are. However the LAST time I went drive through I waited ten minutes in a line only to be told their computer is down. I said no big deal I have cash. The window attendant said left me check if we can do that?! She came back and said I can't do cash because we don't know how much it is. So you can pay with a card and we will charge it when our computers come up. I have been in two restaurants before where this has happened and they decided to give the food to customers without pay. Not here where costumer service is optional. I am not sure why they couldn't calculate the cost by adding tax to a menu price manually. Not to mention everyone smart phone on earth has a calculator on it. So no I am not trusting anyone with my credit card with an unknown blank total when they can't do simple math to pay cash! read more
