I've been all over Italy, Asia, and No America...and this is easily the best pizza I have ever had. The small pizza is still huge, even my 15yo couldn't finish the four slices. The service was attentive and wonderful. Our server was kind, helpful, and interacted really well with our kiddos. I will say that it's a little loud, so that could be overwhelming for some people. But the restaurant is super clean, the decor is fun, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect at a busy pizzeria. I cannot recommend this place enough. This is a very busy spot. We stopped by twice and told a 50 min wait, but the third attempt was a charm and we were seated immediately during late afternoon. The ambiance is like a dim lighted factory. It's connected to a few other eateries and brewery with restrooms in the lobby of all facilities. Ordered the pretzel bites with a beer cheese. These were good in the sense of being soft, chewy dough balls to dip in cheese. I don't believe they tasted like pretzels at all. They tasted more like the pizza dough, but still a good appetizer. Ordered a pepperoni pizza. Dough was fluffy and airy. It seemed a bit over proofed. The pepperoni overcrowded the top and made for a very greasy topping. Sauce is sweeter than my liking. As you walked in through the French double doors that are prop open, hostess stand and a small colorful waiting area. I ordered 4 items: 1) Spinach Artichoke Dip 2) 10 Bone-In Wings 3) Steak and Cheese Sandwich 4) Avocado Hoagie. All the sandwiches were delicious, the bread were soft and steaks were tender and juicy. The avocado hoagie is a vegetable only type of hoagie and it was still good. The two appetizers were on point. First, the spinach artichoke dip that arrived to the table with seasoned baguette slices were lightly toasted on the outside and soft inside. Take a scoop of the dip and spread on top of the toasted baguette, you won't be able to just take one bite. Now let me tell ya about their honey sriracha 10 bone-in wings. You can also get them boneless too. The wings were juicy, tender and those flavors .. wow! It was well seasoned and with each bite, your palate just wants more and more. You have a choice of blue cheese or ranch. Because it is so well seasoned, by dipping them in the selected sauce, you will ruin the flavors and your taste buds will hate you lol. Apparently this is a chain, we don't have one where we are from so we were excited to try! The pizza was delicious, the buffalo chicken pizza was some of the best I've ever had. They caramelized onions on-top added the best flavor. The crust is a sweet wheat, really delicious. Our food took almost 45 minutes to come out, we didn't think anything of it we just thought they were busy, but they comped us for the delay without us asking. We love Mellow Mushroom! This spot is in a great location and always very lively. Our food and drinks were good! We've been here a couple of times and have had good experiences with every time. The cheese bread was some of the best cheese bread I have ever had. Not the sauce with it tho. It was a little bland. I got the white pizza with half grilled chicken and half shaved ribeye steak and this was probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had. My kids Mac n cheese was cold, but she is a kid and was ready to eat so she didn't mind... but I did because it could have at least been a little warm. We started with the Pretzel Bites, which we got for free by signing up on their website. The bites were more like pizza ends. For pizzas: We enjoyed the Kosmic Karma, which reminds me of an elevated Margarita Pizza, with pesto replacing basil leaves. We also had the Steakhouse Pizza, which contained steak, mushrooms, peppers, onions on a garlic and olive oil base. As a group of four, both pizzas were plenty for our table, and we took some home. Pies are more expensive than at a neighborhood pizza joint, but you're paying for creative food and a neat place to eat. The Mellow Mushroom is located in the Colonial Williamsburg area across from William & Mary, so it's always busy. We were lucky to get a table on a Tuesday evening in early December. After a good day with our grandchildren in Williamsburg it was time for dinner. We were in search of some local fare but the long waits were prohibitive so with MM close at hand it won. Finally, the waiter came to us and said our pizza had been delivered to another table. No apology. She said they were making another and we'd have it in 5 minutes. 10-15 minutes later, no pizza. We shared: Regular classic salad without cheese- good size. Loved their dressing options- tried the champagne vinaigrette (two sweet for my liking) and the balsamic- fabulous, great flavor! Medium thin crust pizza with sausage, mushroom, artichoke, and dairy free cheese. Flavors were on point- the sausage was excellent. Although the crust was cooked properly, it was too soft. We love Williamsburg for a lot of reasons. Mostly because the food here is amazing. Whether it's small local establishments or chain restaurants the choices are great. With that said we don't have a Mello Mushroom in Maryland around us, so when we're in town this is a "Must stop" for Pizza. Normally I'm a "Pacific Rim" pizza guy but I figured I'd try their specialty limited time pizza the Taco Nirvana. Sometimes these kind of pizzas are overdone with flavor and toppings but at Mello Mushroom it lived up to its name as I was daydreaming bite after bite of this amazingly flavored pizza with just the right amount of enchilada sauce.
