Raspberry chip on a waffle cone
Iris X.

I'm a sucker for a sweet treat and when my husband and I visited Salem for the first time, I had to have my daily dose of ice cream! Cute quaint little local shop, with unique flavors like butter popcorn and goat cheese with fig jam. Very patient employees who allowed me to take my time trying samples. I went with the raspberry chip eventually, which is not usually a flavor I reach for, but I was feeling adventurous! The perfect blend of sweet and tart with the occasional chocolate chips. No regrets or complaints here. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town.

Banana Nutella with Reese's cups frappe

Super tasty, homemade ice cream. I got a banana Nutella with Reese's cups milkshake and it was DELICIOUS!!!! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, as well community welcoming with a Pride flag hung up. Despite only #2 staff working, they trucked thru the line and everything coming out looked yummy af!! The merch inside the store was adorable as well

My friend and I were craving something sweet before our evening ghost tour. Not many ice cream places that were open on a Monday. This place was open until 9 or 7pm. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have no indoor seating for. It's all outdoor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They offer gluten free options. I do wish they had dairy free but it was tasty. I tried the minty chip in a small bowl. Friend had cookie dough, which had barely any in hers. Staff is friendly and you can add different toppings. Prices range from $6-$$. They do have waffle cones if you don't want a paper bowl.

Melt is the stop for sweet treats in Salem! The ice cream is great, service is ok, [[HIGHLIGHT]]vibes are stellar[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Be sure to grab a t-shirt before you go. Their cookie dough ice cream is excellent!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is a good size and service is quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The texture of the ice cream is pretty stretchy and also a bit grainy. The flavor of each was very good. The herbal tea was very subtle but helped calm my headache.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a lovely cozy ice cream shop in Salem, MA![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was fast, smooth. The staff are kind and welcoming. I tried the vegan pumpkin Oreo ice cream flavor...YUM! I highly recommend that flavor to anyone seeking a cozy, autumnal vibe with their treats in Salem MA.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Adorable little ice cream shop with delicious flavors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the Salt caramel Oreo. It wasn't too sweet and I had a nice amount in cup for a small scoop. They will be closed for the winter starting December 1st

Delicious homemade ice cream waits for you at Melt Ice Cream. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is spacious with window seating, as well as a standing area with a raised table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great. We got to chatting with the employee who works there and she was so friendly. She gave us some recommendations on places to check out while in town. I appreciated her hospitality. The star of the show is the ice cream. Melt offers a wide variety of flavors, as well as a rotating batch. I was very excited to try a delicious flavor called Matcha Munchie Madness. Matcha ice cream with chocolate chips, m&m's, and Kit Kats. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. Perfectly captured the Matcha flavor.

1 scoop of oatmeal cream pie on a sugar cone

Yum!!! I hadn't been to Melt in a few years, last time I went I wasn't a huge fan of the flavors that I got. On a whim while walking around town over the weekend, I decided to give it another shot. I tried the oatmeal cream pie (1 scoop on a sugar cone) and I was pleasantly surprised! For 1 scoop, the portion was generous and there was a ton of oatmeal cream pie chunks in the ice cream. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute tshirts, I love the logo.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The employees were also very friendly.

My uncle lives local and so I took the chance to walk around being a tourist. As I was walking around, I wanted something sweet to eat or sip and came across this ice cream spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outside was cute and was on a fairly busy street.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I walk inside and there was no line. I couldn't decide between the Cookie Dough or Salted Caramel w/ Brownie bites. I ended up sampling both flavors and the worker told me that their Salted Caramel was their popular flavor. I was still indecisive and ended up wanting a scoop of each in a medium cup but then last minute decided to get the Salted Caramel w/ Brownies bites in a milkshake instead. I was not disappointed as it was the perfect thing for me to sip while walking around and exploring the sites of Salem. The next time I visit my uncle here, I will definitely be back and will probably get the Cookie Dough to try something new.

We came here to try their vegan ice cream flavors. The day we went, they had vegan coconut and vegan Oreo flavors only. We got a medium sized cup to be able to get both flavors, which cost about. $7.50. The ice cream is sweet enough without being overly sweet, which is more to my liking. The people working were nice and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There were definitely people coming and going and eating on the patio, but there is one little bench and a high bar table inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, we enjoyed the ice cream and would definitely come back to try other vegan flavors.

Pineapple sorbet
Lisa M.

I love ice cream, and ice cream by any other name: gelato, frozen custard, sherbet, sorbet, you name it. I love it all. Because I love it so much, I've eaten A LOT of it in my day. This place wasn't open when we started our day in Salem BUT we kept it in mind with the thought that we could get some at the end of the day, on our way back to the train. It's along the route. This particular day was HOT and when we stopped back by, there was a little hesitation on our part: There was a long line, a sign stating that the a/c wasn't working, minimal seating due to all those reasons, and the door handle was visibly sticky from someone else's ice cream. Ew. We werent deterred, though. My friend got just a single of vanilla with sprinkles (yawn) but said it was good. I went for one of my favorites: coconut and paired it with what I think was a pineapple sorbet. I don't remember the second flavor because the coconut was, hands down, the BEST coconut ice cream I've ever had. If I have ever said some place else had the best coconut ice cream, I take it back. My friend took a sampling and said "oooh, that's good!" As I said, it was a hot day so I had to eat it fast, hence the poor pics. If you're ever in Salem and craving ice cream, go here! A little more about the place, straight from the babes' mouths and their website: the ice cream is made in-house with fresh, local ingredients. They make their waffle cones and whipped cream daily. They try to use environmentally-friendly products; the bowl was a No Tree brand which is certifiably compostable. They also have dairy free and gluten free options for the folks who need those. I appreciate all of those things, and because they served the best coconut ice cream I've had to date? 5 stars.

Good ice cream but I found a hair in my ice cream at the bottom of my two scoops. A little off putting.

We love Melt. Ice cream tastes natural and doesn't have artificially bright colors. Milk shakes are delicious.

They also sell chocolates and gifts, adding to the "fun little shop" feel as soon as you walk in. I went specifically for ice cream because I was looking for a nearby ice cream shop, and this one caught my eye. It wasn't too crowded when I visited, and the staff was relaxed, friendly, and helpful while getting my scoop ready. I ordered a cookies-and-cream-style flavor with a blue base and cookie crumbles, and it was exactly what I needed on a hot Friday afternoon during a Massachusetts heat wave. I got the smallest (pixie, 4oz) size, and it was plenty for me. Overall, it's a very cute, kitschy little shop that's easy to pop into if you're in town. I wish I'd had more time to explore the gifts and chocolates, but even just stopping in for ice cream was a fun treat.
