I came here for the first time for the Hitchcock Expo, which was truly amazing. It was so well done, incredibly well-organized, and I thought it was a great value for the price. I came here a few weeks later for a showing of The Shining with a live band and that was a really crazy unique experience as well. I'd never been to a movie showing with a live band before and it was so intense, especially in a movie like The Shining. I recommend the MIS to everyone. Check out their website and see what special events are happening and make sure you go to at least one of them! There was a little market in the front courtyard of the museum when I went for The Shining and they were selling lots of artesanal foods and crafts. Eu amo esse museu! I remember I needed a book that they didn't have at that time, so they offered me the option to import a copy of that book. It's ease to get lost inside this place, since it's one of the largest Bookstore in Latin America. Sometimes they use the space for artists to sign autographs or do a performance. There's also a coffee shop inside it. The staff is very helpful, and are always there to assist you in finding a title for you or a gift idea.
