This park is just the perfect size. Not too big and not too small. It sits on the St John's River so that you can see beautiful views and sunsets! There are benches to sit on to relax and rest. There are beautiful trees to sit by on a blanket and maybe bring a basket of food and wine to share with a friend or family. There is a nice view towards Jacksonville and the Fuller bridge. There are also bicyclists enjoying the park. You can bring your dog on a leash if you clean up after him. You can go for relaxing walks or walk as fast as you want. The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens is next door for a peek at wonderful pieces of art and the beautifully designed garden. The Memorial Park celebrates its 100th Birthday this year. I recall the first time that I visited this park was in 2019. This is an awesome park that's adjacent to the Saint John's River. Any given day you may see a dolphin in the river. I love the iconic fountain that really stands out as you stroll along this very attractive park. This is the perfect park if you just need to unwind for the day and watch a sunrise or sunset. If you love nature and parks like I do, then I highly recommend visiting this park when time and weather permits. read more

Memorial Park is an extremely nice park located just off of Riverside Avenue in Jacksonville, Florida. While not an overly large park, it was pleasant nonetheless. My one complaint here is that parking is somewhat of an issue. I enjoyed walking this park and they have a nice memorial statue for those who fought in World War I. We need parks in our communities. We need an area where we as a community can gather in respite and recreation, a place that helps us turn a bunch of apartments or homes into a community. Memorial Park was a great place to spend a bit of time. I would definitely recommend a visit to this wonderful park. It has a nice walkway, the cool memorial statue and a nice view of the water. This park possesses a good-sized open grass circle, a waterfront view, and some interesting architecture. It was reasonably busy on a summer eve, and was walkable to the nearby shopping center while also having a bit of free parking on the side. There are some private apartments and such in the area, and it's a bit disappointing that the city did not preserve the full uninterrupted riverfront for public use (there are riverwalk areas closer to the downtown). Still, a pleasant place to sit. read more

I truly enjoyed my morning walk/ run at Memorial Park. This park is one of many hidden treasures. As it sits along the banks of the St. John's River. It's at the corner of historic Riverside & Avondale. It's a great place to just clear and free your mind from the heaviness of the day. The breeze from the sea is refreshing. I was able to sit and spend time with my dear sister. As we talked, we saw mothers pushing their little ones in the strollers. Friends walking and talking story. There were parts of me that felt that it's allure would fade away and never return to its original stature. Wrong I was. Memorial Park is in tip top shape, dare I say pristine! The park's crown jewel sits right along the St. John's River -- the statue honoring the Floridians who sacrificed their lives during World War I over 100 years ago. Memorial Park is a place to check out if you need to, ya know, check out. Bike riders, roller blades, dog walkers, etc. fill its home. Did you know they offer free salsa lessons every Saturday? Well kept park, open lawn, sidewalk path, and a water front view. It was a nice small park, nothing outstanding for me. The statue was really nice and pretty deep symbolism of life if you read the plaque. The trees with the Spanish moss gave a real southern feel to this park and it was great to just walk around. Nice park by the water. It has a big green area in the middle of the park to walk around and other spaces with park benches around it too. It has a beautiful monument in honor of those who fought in WW1. Also, some fishermen try their luck too. Good for a walk, enjoy the breeze by the water, and jog. read more

It's a spacious park located in between the St. Johns River and a collective community of condos, historic homes, restaurants, grocery stores, and local vendors. This park is great for all kinds of activities: Walking, Yoga, Picture taking, Soccer, Biking, Frisbee throwing, Picnics, and any other activity promoting self and community comforts. Parking is a little difficult at times, so avoid parking near the stores and look for parking on the side streets located on the east and west ends of the park. This is a cute little park right in the heart of Riverside. It's gotten very popular because there are a whole bunch of PokéStops here now. They keep it pretty clean and it is on the water so there's always a nice breeze. From the park you can walk to a Starbucks and numerous hip little restaurants in Riverside. Park is located right off the banks of the St John's River in the Riverside-Avondale Historic District. The walkways are lined with mossy oak trees and the focal point is a very cool and iconic World War I Memorial sculpture. It's currently going through renovation as the center lawn area of the park is fenced off, so it seems like the park is smaller than it really is. My youngest complained that it wasn't a real park since there was no playground, so this definitely wasn't a park that she enjoyed. Since this is a Memorial park, it doesn't seem to have a whole lot of amenities that a regular park would have, but it seems like you can get creative like some of the other people there. There were people doing yoga and some were even doing aerial silk / hanging on a fabric from a tree. If you want to stick to the basic, it's a nice park for walking / jogging, walking your dog, or even dolphin watching if you're lucky. read more

The weather was perfect. The park was full of every type of person. I went to read and get some fresh air. I didn't expect to get so much more than that. So many experiences to soak in at the park. It's clean, it's large enough for a lot of people and it has a lot of shade. Group exercising, runners, walkers, bikers, families, couples, dog walkers, weirdos like me - they are all there. My only complaint is that the amazing statue sits above a neglected pool of brown water and some water logged trash. read more

Memorial Park is one of best parts of Riverside. It's a beautiful space right by the water and the other side of street has an array of eateries and a few dessert and coffee shops. This is definitely one of the best parks in the city. Even though this waterfront park is not large, its a great place to exercise or have an afternoon picnic. My wife and I come here to exercise and play Pokemon from time to time (lame, I know lol). The only negative is the parking is EXTREMELY limited on the side street next to the park. I remember as a kid, coming to this park to fish with mt Father. For whatever reason, I haven't seen a lot of people fishing in recent years, but im sure the fishing is still good here at the park. The park usually has a good number of people, but never over crowded. All in all, this is a great park! read more

I was coming to dinner with a group of people and I was about an hour early. I pondered around this park for about 45 minutes. It was so serene and peaceful. I watched the dogs run and play, the babies walking with mom's and dad's. I watched some older people in a group chit chatting with each other. When I think of Memorial Park~ I think of the iconic picture from one of the previous hurricanes~ the flooding that consumed the area! This park has been open since 1924, just a beating heart of the area~ great space for walking, biking, just enjoying the view of the river! The trees provide ample shade from the Florida sun and just a wonder of calm in an otherwise bustling area. I have made this a must stop when in the area. Parking along the side of the park in my go to. They have bathrooms on site, although not always the freshest. This park is also adjacent to plenty of restaurants and shops as well as wonderful historic homes in the Riverside community! Just a real pleasure to visit. read more

It's a super family-friendly place along the St. John's River to have a picnic, relax, do running exercises, laugh together, or just walk around and talk about the grand old times! I believe this is my favorite park in Riverside. No bathrooms, no playground, but still beautiful and historic and a fantastic view. Perfect for picture taking, fishing, picnicking, or just chilling. Right now, the center green is fenced off for maintenance but should be opening soon. It's a great place to lay out in the sun. It's even big enough to fly a kite on a windy day. Lots of benches to sit on and trees for shade. The side walk encircling the green is wide enough for walkers, strollers, and joggers. For the Pokemon GO players, there are 2 gyms and many PokeStops. read more

Stumbling across Memorial Park was pure coincidence. We were walking around Riverside, aimlessly going down one road after the other while enjoying the killer sunshine, when we noticed the entrance to the park. I was immediately hit by how calm it was in the park. It's such a serene patch of green. The breeze off the water and the beautiful memorial were the icing on the cake. You couldn't tell that there was a bustling shopping area just across the street. It felt like you were in your own pocket world. I'd love to revisit this park with a nice book and spend an afternoon soaking up the atmosphere. read more

It's a smaller park, but it makes up for its lack of space with being ready for multi-purpose uses: you'll see active young professionals seeking a space to start a pickup game, families flying kites together, and locals walking their pups. The large, clear space in the middle is perfect for those with frisbee or picnic plans, the shady paths are great for walking or rollerblading, the riverfront path provides a fishing spot and there are plenty of benches to stop at and catch up on your reading list. This is one of my favorite parks in Jacksonville, partially because I asked someone to be my girlfriend hereabout 12 years ago whom is now my wife and our oldest dog came from this park . More importantly it's in a great location because you can either grab a cup of coffee from the Starbucks a short walk away or you can grab a Publix sub for a nice picnic. There's parking on both sides, although I prefer to park on the side closer to the shopping plaza. It's dog friendly but make sure you bring you own doggy bags to clean up their mess. Fishing is also allowed here although I'm not sure how great the catch is. Every time I see someone fishing I ask how their catch is and it's usually nothing spectacular. There's no swings or slides so maybe not so great for the little ones that's looking for a play area. Oh, there's also three Pokestops and a Pokemon gym here. read more

Love this park as it has so much history and being right on the river you get atleast a small breeze during incredibly hot summers in Florida. A magnificent statue is the epicenter of the park which memorializes lives lost in war. There's a huge field in the center for sports like frisbee, soccer etc. and pavement circles it for walking, jogging, bike riding etc. Great place for a picnic and to bring your furry friend. The huge and incredibly old trees provide ample shade and a scenic place for photo shoots. On any given day you'll find locals fishing out of the river, joggers, dog walkers and families having picnics in the shade. I've also attended peace rallies here since as of late there's been so many tragedies around the world. read more

What a gorgeous spot along the river in gorgeous Jacksonville! I was staying at The Riverdale Inn right across the way and decided to walk over to Starbucks and wandered into the park. Best idea I had to start my morning. It is a small open park right on the river and the sun was shining, people were laying on blankets, families playing and people exercising. It was gorgeous. So many trees around the circle and the sunshine glistening off the water and the gorgeous statues, so awesome. If you are in the area, definitely stop here, relax and soak up the gorgeous surroundings. read more

This park is so peaceful and tranquil. Even though the water is choppy with boo boo brown hue. I still enjoy sitting by it! Everyone gets along in this park except for the occasional lil dog yapping at a big dog who ignores him .
